By then, Xiao Yan had used twenty-nine Safari Balls and caught Bulbasaur, Psyduck, Gible, Eevee, Pidgeotto, and Rhyhorn. Gible alone had cost him eleven Safari Zone Poké Balls. Just then, a Bagon snatched the hat off Xiao Yan's head and put it on its own.
"Bagon, give me back my hat!" Instead, Bagon happily danced on the spot when it heard him.
I only have one Safari Zone Poké Ball left. I really want to catch this Bagon, but I'm also interested in that Dratini in the photo.
Just then, a huge silhouette appeared in the sky, flew over Xiao Yan's head, and headed toward the nearby Grand Canyon.
"Come out, Charizard! Let's follow and take a look." No one noticed Bagon quietly jumping onto Charizard's back to go with them.
"If I remember right, there's a place called Dragon Valley in the Safari Zone. Maybe there really is a Dratini there."
"But I already have Dragonite-a really strong Dragonite that can grow and shrink on its own. What would I even do with a Dratini?" While Xiao Yan was puzzling over this, the person ahead of him riding a Salamence suddenly landed. Xiao Yan and Charizard stayed in the air to watch, and he spotted an injured Dragonair lying on the ground.
"Salamence, bring that Dragonair over."
Xiao Yan couldn't just watch someone take away a Pokémon he wanted. He decided to put up a fight.
"Charizard, Flamethrower!"
A stream of fire descended from the sky and struck Salamence. Dragonair tried to flee, but its injuries kept it from moving quickly.
"Dragonair!" Kaiser, the warden, suddenly rushed out and wrapped his arms around Dragonair.
The person with Salamence looked up and saw a young boy riding Charizard against the light.
"So it's just a kid. Salamence, Hyper Beam!"
"Charizard, Fire Blast!"
The two moves collided in midair, triggering a massive explosion that caught everyone in the blast. Just then, Xiao Yan discovered that the Bagon from earlier had secretly tagged along and was about to fall to the ground. Bagon clutched Xiao Yan's hat tightly in its hands (Xiao Yan's hat).
"Charizard, save Bagon!" Charizard folded its wings and plunged toward Bagon at high speed. After catching Bagon, it spread its wings and glided down to the ground.
"That was close! But Bagon, what are you doing here?"
Bagon waved its arms and danced happily when it heard him.
"Never mind. I need to deal with the enemy in front of me first."
Salamence still hadn't fallen, and its owner was standing just fine too.
"Brat, do you know that anyone who gets in my way is bound for hell?"
"All I know is that I'm going to win this battle."
Both Pokémon took up fighting stances, waiting for their trainers' commands.
"Charizard, Dragon Pulse!"
"Salamence, Fire Blast!"
The two moves collided again, creating a cloud of smoke. A slight smile curled Xiao Yan's lips.
When the smoke cleared, Charizard was up in the sky.
"Dragon Rush!" Charizard slammed into Salamence at tremendous speed, but Salamence still didn't go down.
"Flamethrower!" He had to follow up quickly and finish it off.
Bam! Salamence finally fell. Warden Kaiser hurried over, pulled out a gun, and aimed it at Salamence's trainer.
"You little bastard! You dared to go after Dragonair? If it weren't for the law, I'd have shot you dead already."
Bagon ran over and returned Xiao Yan's hat. A thought suddenly flashed through Xiao Yan's mind, and he took out his last Safari Zone Poké Ball.
"Bagon, want to come with us?" Bagon nodded, then touched the Safari Zone Poké Ball itself. After Bagon went inside, the Safari Zone Poké Ball rocked a few times before settling.
"Bagon, here's to getting along from now on."
Just then, Warden Kaiser walked over.
"You're not done yet. You still need to transfer the Pokémon you caught in the Safari Zone into Poké Balls."
"Will Dragonair be okay?" Xiao Yan asked worriedly as he looked at the injured Dragonair nearby.
"Thanks to you protecting Dragonair, that Pokémon Hunter didn't get away with it." This was the first time Xiao Yan had seen Kaiser act so gently, without pointing a gun at him. He felt indescribably touched.
"It was nothing. I'll go transfer my Pokémon into Poké Balls first. Take your time catching up." It was best not to disturb their reunion.
"Dragonair, you've grown up."
Dragonair gazed affectionately at Kaiser.
Watching their backs from a distance, Xiao Yan felt that even the sternest people still had some warmth in their hearts.
"All right, everyone, make sure you get along. Let's continue our journey."
After saying goodbye to Kaiser, Xiao Yan left with the Pokémon Balls he had on him. However...
"Why do any Pokémon beyond the six I carry get forcibly sent to Professor Oak?"
In the end, he reached a conclusion.
"The professors are forcing trainers to give them Pokémon to research so they can write their reports."
Xiao Yan currently had seventeen Pokémon: Charizard, Arceus, Ho-Oh, Entei, Riolu, Pikachu, Squirtle, Gyarados, Umbreon, Eevee, Psyduck, Pidgeotto, Bulbasaur, Bagon, Rhyhorn, Dragonite, and Gible.
