For example, had he cultivated both the Retribution Knight and Guardian Knight legacies, just as Long Haochen had? Long Haochen wondered, though he already had an answer in his heart.
After all, when he had wanted to pursue both punishment and protection, his father, Long Xingyu, had supported and encouraged him. There was no reason Yue Shen, a cultivation genius even more gifted than he was, would be restricted to a single path.
Come to think of it, though, I really don't think I've ever seen Brother Yue use a shield. Long Haochen watched Yue Shen, who stood ahead of them, releasing his sacred light attribute aura as he soothed the black gorilla alongside Long Haochen's Light Elemental Spirit, Yating.
The Calming Mind Mantra was incredibly effective at soothing frenzied magical beasts. In just a few breaths, the gorilla's eyes regained their clarity, and it no longer showed any intention of attacking them.
Yating, who was responsible for communicating with the magical beasts on Long Haochen's behalf, clearly had not expected such swift progress either. She glanced at Yue Shen in surprise before floating over to the black gorilla to explain that they meant no harm and would not hurt any of them.
Whether it was because the black gorilla understood Yating's Ancient Elvish or because Yue Shen's Calming Mind Mantra had worked, it hesitated only briefly before nodding at Yue Shen beside it.
As though it knew he would not harm it or the other magical beasts, the black gorilla beckoned to them with its large, black-furred hand, signaling for them to follow before turning and heading deeper into the forest.
Yue Shen exchanged a glance with Yating
