Power Progression
| Stage / Realm / Level | Chapter | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Tier 2, level 6 — Squire | 2 | Begins with 165 external spiritual power and no internal spiritual power. His notable attributes are 98 charisma and 89 comprehension. |
| Sacred Awakening — Divine Shelter Constitution | 4 9 | Han Qian performs his awakening. Comprehension becomes 89 innate inner spiritual power, establishing his rare Divine Shelter Constitution. |
| Third tier | 6 | Reaches 281 total spiritual power: 165 external and 116 internal. Gains three free attribute points, but remains an apprentice knight until passing the examination. |
| Charm increased to 100 | 7 | Spends two advancement points on charm and reserves the remaining point for innate inner spiritual power. Delays changing his constitution to avoid questions and preserve his mount-selection options. |
| Fourth tier — Grand Knight | 12 19 | By this stage, his internal spiritual power is nearing 1,900. He retrospectively reveals that all four attribute points from the fourth-tier advancement went into mental power. |
| Fourth tier, level 9 | 17 | Introduces himself to Long Haochen at this rank during their encounter with Gui Wu inside Knight Sacred Mountain. |
| Fifth tier — Earth Knight | 18 | Compresses his spiritual power with the Starshine Unicorn King’s assistance. At this tier, his internal spiritual power becomes liquid, strengthening his skills 31. |
| Fifth tier, level 5 | 18 | Reaches 3,000 spiritual power before leaving the mountain. The unicorns take turns gathering light element for him, enabling this growth over twenty-five days. |
| Child of Light Constitution | 23 | Raises his innate inner spiritual power before contributing blood to Haoyue’s transformation. His new constitution is confirmed, but its exact numerical value is not stated. |
| Fifth tier, level 7 | 46 | Natural spiritual-power growth carries him to this level after he prioritizes coordination with Sol over cultivation. He deliberately avoids rushing into the sixth tier because it would interfere with later plans. |
Background / History
Yue Shen entered the closed-beta game expecting to use an expensive “High-Class Demon save,” but instead found himself inhabiting a twelve-year-old beginner knight account. Unable to locate a logout option, he concluded that he had been transported into the game. His interface and inventory remained accessible, and the account’s memories supplied his new identity 2.
In those memories, both of his parents were knights who died fighting demons shortly after his birth. The Demon-Resisting Sub-Temple adopted him and raised him as a knight trainee. Han Shu had guided his training, while Xia’er served as an assistant instructor 2 3.
Rather than join Long Haochen’s future group, Yue Shen resolved to find a powerful teacher and eventually lead his own Demon Hunt Squad. His awakening attracted Han Qian’s attention, securing a move to the Holy City and instruction from Long Xingyu. Long Xingyu taught him his personal techniques but explicitly declined to accept him as a formal disciple 3 5 8 10.
Appearance
- Hair and complexion: Black hair, later neatly cropped, with fair skin and well-defined features 12 26.
- Eyes: Pale gold because of his exceptional affinity for the light element; this coloring was acquired rather than inherited at birth 12 26.
- Build: Initially somewhat scrawny, he becomes taller, sturdy, and well-proportioned through improved food and medicinal baths in the Holy City 12.
- Clothing: Wears a white knight’s uniform early in his training. Later uses a black cloak and a street-bought mask to conceal his identity 3 48.
- Disguised eyes: His eyes turn azure blue while Sol shares his vision, helping prevent Long Haochen from recognizing him 48 49.
Personality
Yue Shen approaches his new world with a gamer’s pragmatism. He treats sparring with powerful knights as an opportunity to obtain rewards, uses skill points to bypass lengthy practice, and carefully conceals sudden improvements. He also manages his presentation: after unlocking Nine Dragon Steps, he deliberately avoids immediately maximizing it in front of Long Xingyu 6 9.
He is ambitious without being eager to grind endlessly. Once he acquires the skills he wants, he favors efficient meditation, exploration, and developing combination attacks with Sol. His insistence on learning both knight paths reflects his belief that an ability can remain unused but should still be available 9 10 23.
Despite his sarcastic internal commentary, Yue Shen repeatedly helps others. He protects Long Haochen from Gui Wu, contributes blood to save Haoyue, and offers his savings when Long Haochen needs an auction item. He dislikes Gui Wu but does not regard that dislike as a reason to attack him indiscriminately 17 23 41 45.
He is also vain and competitive: he raises charm to one hundred, privately compares his looks with Long Haochen’s, and recognizes that their eventual tournament clash could affect his standing within the Knight Temple 7 14 36.
Abilities & Skills
Player Interface and Attribute Allocation
Yue Shen retains game functions after transmigration, including status and skill panels, an Identification Tool, and unlimited inventory access 2.
- Gains free attribute points through tier advancement and can assign them directly 6 7 19.
- Uses skill points to unlock techniques and rapidly increase their proficiency, including shield skills he has scarcely practiced 9 29.
- Obtains substantial rewards from challenging stronger opponents in sparring 9.
- Uses the Identification Tool to inspect people, equipment, and pills; sufficiently powerful targets can return mostly unknown information 7 28 40.
- The system can raise innate inner spiritual power only to 99; attaining a divine physique beyond one hundred requires more than system allocation 7.
Meditation and Light Affinity
His player constitution lets him enter meditation at will without losing awareness of his surroundings 5 6.
- Cultivates while traveling and can replace sleep with meditation 5 13.
- Benefits from environments rich in light element, particularly Knight Sacred Mountain and the unicorn herd’s assistance 13 18.
- As a Child of Light, his blood helps cleanse Haoyue’s dark constitution and supports its evolution 23.
- His sacred-light attribute reduces the disadvantage against a demon with greater spiritual power 34.
- Prolonged meditation is not endlessly efficient; Yue Shen notes that its cultivation efficiency declines over long sessions 10.
Retribution and Guardian Knight Training
Although registered as a Retribution Knight, Yue Shen insists on acquiring both offensive and defensive techniques 9.
- Masters early knight skills sufficiently to withstand Long Xingyu’s initial skill-only test 7.
- Outperforms Wei Ping in sparring when neither uses internal spiritual power 12.
- Uses his panel to make an unfamiliar shield feel effortless after increasing the relevant skills’ proficiency 29.
- Faces unequal access to the two paths: the Inheritance Ring’s Retribution material is open, while its Guardian material is incomplete and restricted by spiritual-power thresholds 29.
Nine Dragon Steps
Long Xingyu’s self-created footwork initially defeats Yue Shen by disrupting his reading of an attack’s path. Yue Shen learns to recognize successive movements, then unlocks the technique through skill points 8 9.
- Acquired through Long Xingyu’s instruction and later raised in proficiency 9 10.
- Yue Shen’s growing familiarity lets him defend against more of Long Xingyu’s sequence, but does not make him a match for the instructor 8 9.
Holy Sword
A fifth-tier Retribution skill that turns his swords into blades of light and greatly strengthens their attacks 32.
- Deals double damage against dark-attribute creatures 32.
- Shatters the Di Ke Clan assassin’s weapons and severs its hands 32.
- Combines with Divine Guard Block and Lightning Thrust against the near-sixth-tier Twin-Blade Demon 34.
Defensive Techniques
- Divine Guard Block: Holds back the charging Twin-Blade Demon despite its superior spiritual power 34.
- Spirit Light Shield: Protects companions during the Luke Race Stalker ambush. Its fifth-tier-powered version withstands longer than Long Haochen’s, but eventually breaks under sustained attacks 31.
Sword Techniques
- Lightning Thrust: Sends rapid thrusts toward multiple vulnerable points; Yue Shen uses it to strip armor from a damaged demon limb 34.
- Star Radiance Cross Slash: A combination attack empowered by Sol that destroys the Skeleton Mammoth’s tusks and skull 33 34.
- Slaughtering Circular Sword and Seal Character Art: Listed among the techniques he raises with skill points after Long Xingyu’s training 10.
Coordination with Sol
Yue Shen devotes much of the six months before the tournament to developing teamwork with his companion 23.
- Sol channels blue power into Yue Shen’s swords for combination attacks 33.
- Sol’s Spatial Teleportation creates openings, including tearing away the Twin-Blade Demon’s damaged limb 34.
- They communicate through thoughts and share Yue Shen’s vision 48.
- Sol assists Yue Shen’s escape from Chen Ying’er through an azure-light disappearance 50.
- Channeling too much of Sol’s power through Holy Fire and Blazing Sun risks damaging the swords 33 34.
Limitations
- Early awakening leaves Yue Shen with lower external spiritual power than typical knights of his rank, making him comparatively fragile despite strong offense 8.
- Long Xingyu initially judges his mental power insufficient for dual-path cultivation 9.
- Fighting the near-sixth-tier Twin-Blade Demon nearly exhausts his spiritual power; Sol’s assistance is crucial 34.
- Sol cannot cultivate using the Holy Demon Continent’s available elements and cannot return to his original plane 23.
- Yue Shen considers a fully committed Sheng Cai’er a genuine threat rather than a guaranteed victory 49 50.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Holy Fire and Blazing Sun — Repaired Spirit-Demon Grade twin swords formerly belonging to his parents, entrusted to him by Long Xingyu. Yue Shen regards them as his most precious possessions 10 33.
- Inheritance Ring — Black ring containing Knight Temple techniques and Long Xingyu’s self-created skills. Its Guardian Knight contents prove less complete and accessible than its Retribution material 10 29.
- Spatial Bag / inventory — Stores supplies and equipment; allows him to replace his uniform immediately after the awakening burns it away 2 4.
- Dark-gold round shield — Approximately 83 centimeters across. Resists impacts below 400 spiritual power before reinforcement; its Spirit-Concentrating Stone amplifies spiritual-power reinforcement 28.
- Light-attribute Knight Heavy Sword and fire-attribute full-body armor — Selected from Haoyue City’s gifts for their resale value rather than personal use 28.
- Emerald Protective Pills — Obtained from Lin Xin. The Great Strength variant increases defensive external spiritual power by 500 for half an incense stick’s burning time 40 41.
- Spiritual Recovery Pills and Crimson Pills — Given to him by Long Haochen while traveling toward the Holy City 43.
- Magic Crystal Card — Acquired through Lin Xin without a handling fee; initially receives 6,000 gold coins from his demon-corpse sale 39.
- Black cloak and mask — Used for anonymous outings and his encounter with Chen Ying’er and Yang Wenzhao 48 50.
Relationships
- Aurelion Sol — Equal-contract mount companion and combat partner. Yue Shen trains their coordination, restrains Sol’s anger, and values his comparatively inexpensive upkeep 21 23 31 49.
- Long Haochen — Friend, beneficiary of repeated assistance, and anticipated tournament rival. Long Haochen insists that Yue Shen use his full strength—including Sol—if they fight 17 23 36.
- Long Xingyu — Instructor and source of his advanced Retribution techniques. Declines formal discipleship, initially discourages dual cultivation, and later gives him the Inheritance Ring and his parents’ swords 8 9 10.
- Han Qian — Patron who conducts his awakening, brings him to the Holy City, arranges teachers, and protects his confidential status. Yue Shen addresses him as “Grandpa Han” 4 5 12.
- Han Shu — Childhood temple master and early training guide at the Demon-Resisting Sub-Temple 3 5.
- Xia’er — Assistant instructor who looks after him before the Sacred Awakening and buys the bread Yue Shen forgot 2.
- Wei Ping — Later instructor, sparring partner, and escort to Knight Sacred Mountain. Yue Shen calls him “Uncle Wei” 12 13.
- Starshine Unicorn King and herd — Assist his breakthrough and cultivation. Yue Shen ultimately declines their offer to accompany him 18 22.
- Haoyue — Saved through Yue Shen’s contribution of Child of Light blood; later shows affection toward him 23 31.
- Lin Jialu — Assessment leader whom he protects from a demon assassin; later accompanies him to the auction house 30 31 38.
- Lin Xin — Purchases his demon corpse and magic crystal, helps arrange his Magic Crystal Card, and trades pills for tournament information 39 41.
- Gui Wu — A disliked fellow knight. Yue Shen helps drive him away from Long Haochen but later avoids starting an unnecessary fight 14 17 45.
- Sheng Cai’er — Potentially his most dangerous tournament opponent. An encounter involving Sol makes Yue Shen reassess his confidence 49 50.
- Chen Ying’er and Yang Wenzhao — Encounters them anonymously, stops Yang Wenzhao from forcibly carrying Chen Ying’er away, and leaves without revealing his identity 50.
Story Role / Major Arcs
Holy City Training
The Knight Temple cultivates Yue Shen as a confidential talent, keeping him away from locations frequented by other temples. Long Xingyu’s departure to duel Ananda ends his initial instruction, after which Wei Ping becomes his instructor. A top-three tournament finish is promised to earn Yue Shen a spirit furnace 10 12.
Knight Sacred Mountain
Yue Shen initially struggles to navigate the forest, then befriends a Windrider Eagle and helps Long Haochen escape Gui Wu’s intimidation. After cultivating with the Starshine Unicorn herd, he chooses the teleportation array instead of taking a unicorn mount. The resulting summon is Sol, recorded as the array’s second Starry Sky Divine Beast 15 17 18 21.
Before leaving, Yue Shen intervenes when the elders consider stopping Long Haochen’s blood ritual. His contribution allows Haoyue to survive, shed its dark aura, and develop a second head 22 23.
Demon Hunt Squad Assessment
Sent to Haoyue City for his assessment, Yue Shen joins Long Haochen’s party while retaining a separate requirement to kill a fifth-tier demon. He protects the group during ambushes, disables a Di Ke Clan assassin, and defeats a Skeleton Mammoth and a Quasi-Gold-Patterned Twin-Blade Demon with Sol. His performance shakes the other contestants’ confidence 29 30 31 32 34 35.
Aimei City Auction
Yue Shen sells his demon corpse and magic crystal to Lin Xin for 6,000 gold coins. When Haoyue wants an auctioned stone ball, he offers those savings to Long Haochen; Lin Jialu ultimately pays the winning 10,000-gold price herself 39 41 42.
Tournament Preliminaries and Anonymous Outings
Registering as a fifth-tier contestant grants Yue Shen byes for the first two elimination rounds. He leaves the early matches after finding them uninformative, disguises himself, and encounters Sheng Cai’er before becoming involved in Chen Ying’er and Yang Wenzhao’s argument 46 47 48 49 50.
To stop Yang Wenzhao, he invokes chivalry and fabricates a “Temple Alliance Citizen Protection Act.” He then escapes Chen Ying’er’s questions with Sol’s help. His own tournament matches remain unshown in the supplied chapters 50.
