Background / History
Wang Ming comes from the Warrior Temple’s Immovable Wisdom King Lineage. His ancestor died fighting the Fourth Demon God Pillar, after which the family declined. At twenty, Wang Ming identifies himself as the lineage’s only surviving member 106.
He inherits the Immovable Wisdom King Shield, a family weapon he dates to the Glorious Era more than eight thousand years earlier. Its embedded magic crystal was destroyed during his ancestor’s battle, leaving the damaged shield at glorious level 37. The opponent is later identified as Samigina, the Fourth Pillar Demon God 183.
Appearance
Wang Ming has a towering, muscular build and a rugged face; his stance behind his giant shield is compared to a small mountain 36 66.
- Hair: Short and upright, resembling steel needles 184.
- Face: Thick eyebrows, large eyes, a straight nose, and a square mouth 184.
- Shield: Stands as tall as he does and is described as wider and thicker than his body 66 183.
- Awakened manifestations: A faint bloody glow surrounds him and his shield during enlightenment; his Sixth-Order breakthrough produces ochre spirit wings 135.
Personality
Despite his rough appearance, Wang Ming is meticulous, thoughtful, and exceptionally steady. Jiang Feng trusts him with both the squad’s defenses and its spellcasters’ safety, while his caution leads him to retain protective armor even after his physical strength makes it less necessary 76 177.
His apparent reluctance to attack in the selection tournament comes from restraint rather than cowardice. He fears that Mingwang Cannon could kill or cripple another contestant, yet privately finds attacking more exciting than endless defense. He accepts his defeat by Jiang Feng wholeheartedly 37 46.
As vice-captain, he sets an example by stepping forward when his companions hesitate before Holy Guard No. 12. His usual composure can give way to fierce anger: after A Bao kills a human mage, Wang Ming repeatedly attacks despite being knocked away 135 160.
Abilities & Skills
Shield Defense
Wang Ming’s original specialty is holding the frontline with the Immovable Wisdom King Shield. Jiang Feng considers his defense stronger than that of guardian knights at the same rank 37.
- Blocks Jiang Feng’s Holy Radiance Cross Slash head-on without being pushed back 36.
- Raises a barrier that prevents three Beta Flying Demons from reaching Jiang Xinran 79.
- Plants the shield in the ground to bring its defensive capability to its strongest state 131.
- Combines his defenses with allies’ shields and an earth wall to withstand an eighth-order attacker’s projectile 143.
- Limits: Spiritual-power exhaustion undermines his defenses, and frontal blocking alone cannot handle sustained attacks from several directions 36 159. Exceptionally powerful blows can knock the shield from his hands or overwhelm layered protection 131 160.
Mingwang Cannon
A built-in skill of the Immovable Wisdom King Shield that releases a concentrated earthen-yellow beam. Its destructive power increases with Wang Ming’s cultivation and the shield’s restoration 39 132 204.
- Shatters Lin Xin’s eighteen Elemental Fire Shields in one attack 40.
- Destroys a skeleton knight and its mount while pulverizing half of a second knight’s body 132.
- With the restored epic-level shield, kills a seventh-order Golden Bird Demon outright while Wang Ming is still Sixth Order 204.
- Strikes an invisible ninth-order Di Ke Clan attacker after his spirit furnace locks onto the target 258.
- Limits: Initially has a long cooldown and nearly empties his spiritual power, leaving little capacity for further defense 39. His later mastery lets him retain some fighting strength after firing, but major attacks remain costly 132 141.
Immovable Wisdom King Bloodline
His inherited bloodline awakens during a spar with Holy Guard No. 12, earlier than Jiang Feng expected. The awakening improves his aptitude, physical power, shield control, and offensive combat instincts 135 137 141.
- Raises his innate spiritual power from seventy-three to at least eighty 106 137.
- Provides inherited techniques and instincts that emerge naturally during enlightenment 135.
- Can be deliberately activated to raise his combat strength in later battles 257.
- Limits: Immediately after awakening, he has mastered only thirty percent of the inherited techniques and cannot freely reproduce his enlightenment performance 137.
Shield-and-Blade Combat
Greater physical strength allows Wang Ming to hold his shield one-handed and attack with the Glorious Berserk Blade. During enlightenment, the two weapons function as an integrated offensive and defensive pair 124 135.
- Shield Bash Counter: A low-ranking counterattack that displays Fifth-Order might in his hands; crushes lesser demons and can knock back and stun a Fifth-Order Jade-Green Twin-Blade Demon 104.
- Shield Bash: A Sixth-Order offensive skill used to press Holy Guard No. 12 after a saber strike is deflected 135.
- Shield strikes and throws: Crushes a skeleton knight’s shoulder and throws his epic shield hard enough to cave in a seventh-order demon’s chest 132 207.
- Aerial combat: Three months of Eternal Tower training make spirit-wing flight and difficult aerial maneuvers familiar to him 177.
Heart of the Earth Spirit Furnace
A fused spirit furnace incorporating a Holy Guidance Spirit Furnace. It supplies earth-element support and retains a pulling ability useful for protecting allies 206 258 264.
- Draws hostile spells toward Wang Ming, relieving pressure on Murong Xian’er and Feng Li 206.
- Pulls Wang Yuanyuan out of a lethal attack and into his protection 258.
- Locks onto an attacking invisible enemy, allowing Wang Ming to locate him after he disappears again 258.
- Helps sustain his spiritual power during prolonged melee combat 206.
- Limits: Forcing an immense influx of earth-element spiritual power through his body causes bloody cracks across his physique when he reaches his bodily limit 264.
Physical Strength and Recovery
Wang Ming’s external spiritual power supports both his close-combat attacks and his ability to endure injury.
- Causes a mountainside to collapse with a palm strike, burying hundreds of approaching zombies 194.
- At 100,000 external spiritual power, can stop his wounds from bleeding faster than ordinary professionals, though his healing remains far below Jiang Feng’s Undying Body 257.
- Limits: Attacks exceeding his physical defensive capacity can still tear through his body 258.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Immovable Wisdom King Shield / Ming King Shield — An exceptionally heavy inherited weapon with defensive capabilities and the embedded Mingwang Cannon. Initially peak glorious-level despite its damage; restored to epic level by fitting a Heaven-Defying Demon Dragon’s magic crystal 36 37 183 204.

- Earth Armor — Peak glorious-level heavy armor restricted to earth-element professionals with innate spiritual power above seventy. Power of the Earth improves spiritual-power recovery by forty percent while grounded; Earth Wall Technique provides an instant Sixth-Order defensive skill at the wearer’s expense 124 160.

- Storage Ring — Used to carry and draw his Glorious Berserk Blade 160.
Relationships

- Wang Yuanyuan — Romantic partner and fellow shield warrior. Wang Ming is captivated by her battlefield courage, saves her from a ninth-order attacker, and becomes her partner during a month at Southeast Fortress. Before leaving, he supplies pills and commissions a weapon for her 255 257 258.
- Yao Li — Long-standing teammate and teasing friend who calls him “Second Wang.” Their coordination lets Wang Ming occupy a ninth-order demon while Yao Li delivers the killing attack 229 249.
- Jiang Xinran — Teammate whose safety falls within his defensive responsibilities. He shields her from flying demons and helps her kill a seventh-order Golden Bird Demon 68 79 141.
- Murong Xian’er — Teammate and healer who restores his spiritual power and treats his injuries after difficult battles 97 132.
- Shangguan Yan — Teammate who arranges the repair of his shield and acquires his legendary inner armor 183.
- Holy Guard No. 12 — Training opponent whose superior techniques force Wang Ming to develop his offense and trigger his bloodline awakening 135 137.
