Early the next morning, Xue Ge took the invitation Shisui had given him long ago and headed to the Uchiha Clan Compound.
Having been there once before, Xue Ge easily passed through the Uchiha Clan's gates and made his way to Shisui's home.
Danzo watched all of this.
Standing atop a tall building far from the Uchiha Clan Compound, Danzo watched Xue Ge enter from a distance, his face expressionless.
When Shisui had rushed to visit Xue Ge at the first opportunity, Danzo had sensed trouble. Sure enough, because of Shisui Uchiha, Xue Ge's relationship with the Uchiha Clan was growing closer and closer.
Danzo regarded the Uchiha Clan with hostility. Xue Ge growing close to them left him somewhat uncomfortable.
At the very least, Xue Ge was nominally his stepson-
Unlike the other children, although Danzo often tried to brainwash Xue Ge as well, Xue Ge's indifference toward everything left Danzo unsure whether the brainwashing had actually worked.
Thus, Xue Ge was also one of the few children on whom Danzo had placed a Self-Karma Binding as insurance.
He could not let Xue Ge side with the Uchiha without his knowledge. Being friendly with them was tolerable; he might even obtain some information about the clan's internal affairs through him. But everything had to remain under Danzo's control. There had to be a limit.
Suddenly, Danzo thought of a good idea. An idea that could kill two birds with one stone.
After meeting up at Shisui's home, the two headed toward the Uchiha Clan leader's residence.
As they drew close, Shisui whispered to Xue Ge, "Don't be nervous when you meet our clan leader. He looks stern, but he's actually very kind. When we talked, he had quite a good opinion of you."
"..." Xue Ge glanced at Shisui.
