Background / History

Aha once traveled aboard the Star Rail as a disguised Nameless alongside Akivili, the Aeon of Trailblaze. Akivili recognized Aha’s identity but chose not to expose it, allowing the two Aeons to travel together and enjoy the journey. Aha regarded Akivili as the only Aeon capable of truly sharing its sense of fun. 36

Their friendship fractured when Akivili planned to explore an uncharted and dangerous world. Unable to dissuade Akivili, Aha threatened to leave the train, then secretly destroyed one of the Star Rail’s carriages in an attempt to stop the journey. The damage only delayed Akivili, who repaired the train and departed anyway; Aha never saw Akivili again. 36

Inside the Simulated Universe, Aha appeared before Stelle as a talking ant and revealed that Stelle was allegedly a virtual game character. When Stelle refused to believe it, Aha forcibly chose her as its Emanator, placing the red clown-face Mark of Elation in her palm and instilling an overwhelming trust in the Aeon. 1

Following Stelle’s awakening, Aha claimed that becoming an Emanator had made her a genuine being with self-awareness, free to follow her own desires rather than a player’s control. Aha then began directing Stelle toward “conquering” others in exchange for Scripts that could help the Astral Express survive the dangers of Amphoreus. 2 3 12

Haunted by Akivili’s loss, Aha resolves not to lose Stelle as well. Although it warns her of her approaching death near Omphalos, it becomes unresponsive after the carriage attack, leaving Stelle to assume it is occupied with saving her. 36 46 50

Appearance

Aha’s true appearance is not clearly shown. Its manifestations vary between the Simulated Universe and Stelle’s dreams.

It frequently treats Stelle’s life as a source of Elation, encouraging her romantic pursuits and commenting on them in real time. Aha compares itself to the “system” from a system novel and grants rewards whenever Stelle’s actions generate sufficient Elation. 7 27 34

Beneath its teasing, Aha is capable of seriousness and attachment. Its behavior toward Stelle is influenced by its former friendship with Akivili, and it is determined to prevent a repeat of the loss that followed Akivili’s final journey. 2 36
