Background / History

Before becoming a Nameless, Stelle traveled with the Stellaron Hunters. Kafka expected to awaken her at Herta Space Station, after which Stelle would lose her memories and join the Astral Express. Bооtie also recalls a possible earlier identity as a Space Ranger, though the memory is explicitly uncertain and may be a parallel-world illusion. 23 29

During a weekly Simulated Universe test, Aha appeared to Stelle in the form of a talking ant and selected her as an Emanator of Elation. The selection branded her palm with a red clown face and left her unable to fully disbelieve Aha, despite her anger at being forced onto the Path. 1

On leaving the Simulated Universe, Stelle received fragmented visions of a higher-dimensional world in which people controlled her as a game character. Aha later claimed that accepting Elation had awakened her self-awareness and made her free to act on her own desires. Stelle accepted this explanation reluctantly, then decided to pursue relationships with people she found attractive while continuing her Trailblazing journey. 1 2

The Elation Switch later gave form to a sharper, more domineering side of her personality. After the Omphalos carriage was struck and the Trailblazer lost consciousness, this side appeared independently as “Elation Stelle,” calmly guiding her other self through a flower-arranging lesson until she awakened. 7 46 47

Stelle is a gray-haired young woman with golden eyes. Her usual presentation combines a short skirt, black gloves, and a dark-green garter or leg ring; removing her glove exposes Aha’s mark in her palm. 1 2 43

Personality

Outside Elation Mode, Stelle is impulsive, playful, and easily distracted by food, games, gifts, and gambling. She can be reckless—such as jumping from the Express into the Outlying Snow Plains without a parachute—but is also quick to help others, rescuing Sampo from the snow despite their troubled history. 3 26

She treats her romantic pursuits as sincere rather than merely assignments from Aha. Although scripts motivate her to approach certain people, Stelle insists that she would not pursue anyone she did not genuinely like. 28

Stelle is deeply protective of the Express Crew. Aha’s visions of March 7th frozen, Dan Heng severely injured, and Stelle herself dying motivate her to seek scripts that might change their future. 10 14 45

Elation Mode heightens her confidence, directness, and mischievousness. This version of Stelle is calm under pressure, enjoys teasing others, and can become intimidatingly controlling—even toward her own Trailblazer self. Despite this severity, Elation Stelle is organized, patient, and skilled at arranging Jade Lotus flowers. 16 32 47
