Background / History

Dan Heng joined the Star Rail after a past marked by imprisonment, forced detransformation, and resentment toward being the reincarnation of Dan Feng. Welt, Himeko, and Pom-Pom accepted him without dwelling on that past, allowing him to build a new life as Dan Heng aboard the Express. 49

On the Express, he serves as both guard and archivist. He maintains the archives, cleans the train with the Cloud-Weaving Technique, and repeatedly assists March 7th and Stelle despite habitually calling each favor the “last time.” 2 13

He returns to the Xianzhou Luofu with Stelle before the Express's planned warp to Omphalos. During the visit, he avoids discussing his history with Jing Yuan, becomes visibly unsettled by Jing Yuan's attention toward Stelle, and is sent away while Stelle meets the General alone. Though troubled by Stelle's secrecy, he chooses not to press her for answers. 14 15 18 24

Dan Heng is selected with Stelle as the Express's advance scouting team for Omphalos. When their booster-equipped carriage is struck by a spear and crashes, he shields her, finds her apparently dead, and desperately attempts first aid. Driven by his fear of losing her, he resolves to use the Dragon-Transforming Art despite rejecting Dan Feng's legacy for much of his life; a falling rock incapacitates him before he can complete it. 46 48 49

After recovering, he reunites with the living Stelle amid the wreckage. The two treat their injuries, fail to contact the Express due to Omphalos's lack of signal, and leave the unstable crash site together. 50

Dan Heng is a young man with a dark-green presence and a cool snow-cedar scent. The faint red at the corners of his eyes is especially striking. 13
