None of the cats were interested in the Paper-Paper Fruit, so Xie Wen could only hold on to it for now. Devil Fruits had no expiration date, anyway.
Whether he sold it, traded it for another Devil Fruit, or waited until he summoned a cat like Konan Meow and gave it to her was something to consider later.
After enjoying a feast Sanji Meow had made with ingredients unique to the North Blue, Xie Wen took Klee Meow and Hua Mei Meow ashore again to explore Lighthouse Town's night market...
Although they had already revealed the map, they were in no hurry to leave. Whenever they came across a city worth exploring, they would stay a few extra days, leaving only after taking all the cats to the places that interested them.
And this little outing turned up a bit of a problem.
As mentioned before, besides navigating and keeping the Little Furball Cats in line, their head housekeeper Hua Mei Meow also handled intelligence gathering. After striking up conversations with the townspeople a few times, she brought Xie Wen some rather unwelcome news-
"That Paper-Paper Fruit was something one of the Shichibukai, Heavenly Yaksha, Donquixote Doflamingo, wanted, meow." Hua Mei Meow jumped onto Xie Wen's shoulder and murmured into his ear, "The people who got the fruit don't seem to belong to the Donquixote Family, but there's no guarantee they won't come looking for trouble over it... should we notify Law Meow?"
Xie Wen had long since told Klee Meow about the feud between Trafalgar Law and Heavenly Yaksha as a story, and the other cats had listened along. Naturally, Hua Mei Meow knew about the agreement between Xie Wen and Law.
*To think Doflamingo could still extend his reach into the North Blue after leaving it so long
