Whenever explosions weren't involved, little angel Klee Meow was very considerate. Knowing Xie Wen had serious business to attend to, she willingly handed over the Den Den Mushi after a little wheedling.
Actually, Xie Wen didn't think it was much of a problem. Perhaps the Marines were too confident in their jamming equipment, or perhaps their main force was busy preparing at the real ambush site. In any case, throughout his circuit of the island, no one had been watching out for them making calls.
That worked out nicely. He wouldn't have to be so cautious while chatting on the phone with the cats, either.
"...That's how things stand, so there shouldn't be any problems on my end. If you have time, you could start keeping an eye on Big Mom and the Marines."
Once Hua Mei Meow took over the call on the other end, Xie Wen immediately told her about the situation here and his analysis.
"Uh..." The little tabby mulled it over for a moment, then asked quietly, with a hint of hesitation, "Admiral... did you only just figure that out, meow?"
And Xie Wen could hear Ai Haibara Meow's mocking laughter mixed in...
You don't need to transmit that sound!
Xie Wen shot an irritated look at the Den Den Mushi diligently doing its job in his hand, then asked helplessly, "So you already guessed what was going on here?"
"Yes. Isn't it obvious, meow?" Scarlet Tiger-sama answered matter-of-factly. "How could the Marines possibly trust the Shichibukai? Keeping things from us and throwing up smokescreens was inevitable. I thought something this simple wouldn't need pointing out to you, Admiral, meow."
Xie Wen: "..."
The little tabby seemed to realize that saying it that way hurt her Sapphire Star's pride, and hurried to make up for it.
