Beside an uninhabited island in the West Blue, Explorer One had furled its sails and bobbed gently on the water, while Xie Wen took Klee Meow and Sanji Meow ashore on an island that was not even on the Navy's maps.
It was a coincidence, really. This island had not originally been on their route. While fishing, Xie Wen had suddenly hooked a Sea King, which had kept its jaws clamped on the hook and dragged Explorer One all over the place. When Xie Wen finally killed it with a single slash, they happened to stop not far from this island.
The island was not particularly large, either-roughly the size of his university's sports stadium. They did not even need to land to light it up on the map; sailing a lap around it would do.
They had not landed because they had discovered anything good there. On the contrary, the entire island consisted of dark rock, with nothing except a little moss and some barnacles around the edges.
Rather than an island, it was more like an enormous black reef.
The real reason they had landed was that Xie Wen and Sanji Meow both intended to try Klee Meow's method of awakening Observation Haki.
They could have tried the previous method of towing a dinghy, but that was too inefficient. There was also the constant risk of falling into the sea, and going back and forth would waste quite a bit of time. It really was not suitable for awakening Observation Haki. Finding an island where they would not be disturbed, as they had now, made a better training spot.
After landing on this nameless Black Reef Island, Klee Meow quickly pulled out her bomb-making materials and tools. But she had barely begun tinkering before she started squirming as
