"An opening, meow!"
A sharp gleam flashed in Sanji Meow's eyes as he enjoyed Xie "Catto" Wen's attentions. He suddenly sprang out of Xie Wen's arms and launched a rising kick at his chin.
Xie Wen leaned back slightly, dodging the little brat's sneak attack, while raising his right hand to catch a pebble flying in from the side. Immediately afterward, he sharply ducked his head to avoid a wooden staff sweeping in from behind, then rolled sideways, letting Chinjao's bald head smash into the ground where he had just been.
"So this is Observation Haki? What a strange feeling."
Blindfolded, Xie Wen sensed the "colors" that had suddenly appeared both within his field of vision and beyond it, and marveled in surprise.
At the very instant the wooden staff swept toward him, his Observation Haki had suddenly awakened. There had been no particular warning signs or reactions; he had simply learned it naturally.
Then he experienced what Klee Meow had meant by "hearing" other people's emotions.
Perhaps because his hearing was inferior to the cats', or perhaps because humans relied primarily on sight, Xie Wen felt that, compared with Klee Meow's "hearing," his Observation Haki was more like "seeing." Meanwhile, Sanji Meow, as a chef, had Observation Haki that leaned more toward "smelling."
He could "see" the rough outlines of various living creatures beyond his field of vision, along with the "colors" representing their emotions and presences. When he focused on a single target, he could even sense the "flaws" in their body, or rather, their injuries, such as Chinjao's flattened head.
Moreover, Xie Wen's Observation Haki had a different emphasis from Klee Meow's and Sanji Meow's.
Klee Meow's Observation Haki focused on sensing others' emotions, which was probably because Little Plushie had a relatively pure mind. Sanji Meow's
