Chapters 126–150 Vol. 2 Read

Ch. 126Trial of the Iron Fist, Master Rank 3

Xie Wen tested his strength against Garp, first in a brief fist clash and then with his strongest combined technique, Scarlet Sky's End. Garp revealed Conqueror's Coating to stop the attack, and Xie Wen, Klee Meow, and Meow Jūshirō continued fighting him together.

  • Xie Wen traded punches with Garp, who sent him through Dadan's cabin wall without injuring him.
  • Xie Wen resumed bargaining for a Devil Fruit or sword, but Garp refused and challenged him to fight.
  • Xie Wen invited Klee Meow and Meow Jūshirō to join him, and the group moved to an open area on Mount Colubo.
  • Xie Wen used Scarlet Sky's End, forcing Garp to coat his fist with Conqueror's Haki before knocking Xie Wen back.
  • Klee Meow bombarded Garp with explosives and flame rays while Xie Wen and Meow Jūshirō attacked with Haki-coated blades.

Ch. 127Perfect teamwork between the Sapphire Star and his Palicoes

Xie Wen, Meow Jūshirō, and Klee Meow coordinated a barrage of attacks against Garp, managing to leave him with two small cuts but little other damage. After Sanji Meow explained Haki to Luffy and Ace, Garp, embarrassed by his battered uniform and annoyed that his plan to impress them had failed, prepared to hit harder.

  • Garp dodged Klee Meow's bomb and fought off Xie Wen and Meow Jūshirō, but their combined sword technique cut him twice.
  • Klee Meow dropped Jumpy Dumpty on Garp as Xie Wen and Meow Jūshirō kept him in place, then joined their attacks with fiery Rathian and Rathalos.
  • Luffy worried that the group might defeat Garp, while Sanji Meow reassured him and explained the three types of Haki to him and Ace.
  • Garp emerged from the smoke with only superficial wounds, tore off his ruined uniform, and launched Fist Bone Impact in a foul mood.

Ch. 128Have you seen Klee's little bear, meow?

Garp struck Xie Wen unconscious, prompting Klee Meow to attack him with a flaming Dodoco Bear before Garp stopped her. After Xie Wen recovered, he refused Garp's offer to join the Marines but negotiated maps, Seastone, and a Log Pose.

  • Garp's punch overwhelmed Xie Wen and sent him flying, so Xie Wen lost consciousness before hitting the ground.
  • Klee Meow summoned a flaming Dodoco Bear and attacked Garp, but he extinguished its flames and grabbed her.
  • Sanji Meow woke Xie Wen with a healing rice ball, and Klee Meow and the others rushed to check on him.
  • Garp praised Xie Wen and again offered him a place in the Marines, but Xie Wen refused and Klee Meow apologized for attacking him.
  • Xie Wen asked Garp for maps and Seastone, and Garp agreed to provide them along with a Log Pose.

Ch. 129The Sapphire Star really was talented (deadpan)

After Garp left Foosha Village, Xie Wen trained Ace and Luffy while Klee Meow created a flame puppet that appeared to show Devil Fruit Awakening. Xie Wen explained Devil Fruits and the Shichibukai, and the chapter ended as a News Coo arrived with a parcel from Garp.

  • Garp settled the details of his trade with Xie Wen, ate with Ace and Luffy at Dadan's place, and left after promising to send supplies by News Coo.
  • Xie Wen began training Ace and Luffy in physical conditioning, Observation Haki practice, and sparring with Sanji Meow and Hua Mei Meow.
  • Klee Meow animated her flames into a bear puppet called Dodobear, prompting Xie Wen to suspect she had awakened her Logia ability.
  • Xie Wen explained the Devil Fruit categories and awakening to Ace and Luffy, then warned them about the strength of the Shichibukai.
  • Ace reacted intently to hearing about Whitebeard, while Luffy declared he would beat everyone and become Pirate King.
  • A News Coo carrying a parcel flew up to Xie Wen.

Ch. 130The Four Emperors

Xie Wen tested Seastone on Luffy and Klee Meow, then read news announcing the Four Emperors and showed their Wanted Posters to Luffy and Ace. Luffy learned that Shanks was one of the Emperors and rushed off to train, while Sanji Meow wondered whether he would miss lunch.

  • Xie Wen received Seastone and a Log Pose from Vice Admiral Garp, and showed Luffy how Seastone weakened Devil Fruit Users.
  • Xie Wen let Klee Meow touch the Seastone briefly to begin helping her overcome her weakness to it.
  • Xie Wen paid the News Coo's shipping fee, then used his Press Pass to get a newspaper for free.
  • Xie Wen read that the Red Hair Pirates and Beasts Pirates had clashed, and showed Luffy and Ace the Four Emperors' Wanted Posters.
  • Luffy recognized Shanks, learned he had been on Pirate King Roger's crew, and rushed outside to train.
  • Sanji Meow asked whether Luffy had forgotten lunch, and Xie Wen reassured him that Luffy would return soon.

Ch. 131We're all ability users!

Xie Wen left Foosha Village after ten days of training with Ace and Luffy, and told them that their brother Sabo had survived the Celestial Dragons’ attack. Ace and Luffy set out with renewed hope to find Sabo, while Xie Wen and his cats headed for Shimotsuki Village.

  • Sanji Meow complained that feeding Luffy was exhausting, so Xie Wen offered to grill extra meat for the hungry boy.
  • Xie Wen used his Hunter’s BBQ Spit to make grilled meat for Luffy, who devoured it and demanded more.
  • After about ten days in Foosha Village, Xie Wen said goodbye to Luffy and Ace and planned to continue training in Shimotsuki Village.
  • Ace promised to master Haki before their next fight, and Luffy joined him in challenging Xie Wen; Klee Meow also invited them to try her bombs.
  • Xie Wen told Ace and Luffy that Sabo had survived and been rescued, though he did not know where Sabo was.
  • Ace and Luffy thanked Xie Wen, and Luffy tearfully called him a great guy.

Ch. 132Isshin Dojo

Xie Wen reached Shimotsuki Village and asked Isshin Dojo’s master, Shimotsuki Koshiro, for guidance on his swordsmanship. After discussing Xie Wen’s simple view of the sword, Koshiro proposed a spar so they could learn through their blades.

  • Xie Wen and the cats arrived at Shimotsuki Village after searching across the East Blue for a dojo known for its swordsmanship.
  • Xie Wen politely asked Koshiro to assess his swordsmanship, while the dojo’s children mistook him for a challenger and called for Zoro.
  • Koshiro recognized Xie Wen as the Cat Swordsman and asked what a sword and swordsmanship meant to him.
  • Xie Wen said a sword was a weapon and that he used one because it suited him, though he wanted to improve.
  • Koshiro suggested that they spar so Xie Wen could understand more through the sword.

Ch. 133Swordsmanship was a philosophical question

Xie Wen learned from sparring with Shimotsuki Koshiro that swordsmanship could grow through understanding the will behind a blade, though he remained unsure how to find his own path. Meow Jūshirō quickly revealed exceptional swordsmanship talent, and the group stayed at the dojo hoping to meet Zoro, who failed to arrive before dinner.

  • Xie Wen sparred with Koshiro and used Observation Haki to sense the will infused in Koshiro’s ordinary sword.
  • Xie Wen realized that advancing along Koshiro’s path meant understanding why he wielded a sword, but he decided not to rush that self-discovery.
  • Meow Jūshirō sparred with Koshiro and quickly showed that his sword had become powerful, astonishing Koshiro with his talent.
  • Koshiro ended the spar and told Meow Jūshirō that his talent and established path needed no further guidance.
  • Koshiro invited Xie Wen and his companions to stay so they could spar with Zoro, but Zoro remained lost until evening, so Koshiro suggested they eat.

Ch. 134Wager Duel

Xie Wen used a fabricated claim that he had won Isshin Dojo to provoke Zoro into a wager, hoping to borrow Wado Ichimonji long enough to register it in his catalog. Zoro accepted the sword as his stake, setting up their duel.

  • After Zoro failed to return to the dojo, Koshiro learned that students had told him Xie Wen was there to challenge the dojo, and Zoro had run off in the wrong direction.
  • Zoro arrived the next morning and challenged Xie Wen, while Xie Wen spotted Wado Ichimonji and considered how to obtain it.
  • Xie Wen claimed he had won Isshin Dojo from Koshiro and demanded that Zoro put up a wager to win it back.
  • Xie Wen threatened to turn the dojo into a restaurant and other businesses, with Sanji Meow and Hua Mei Meow helping him play along and Klee Meow suggesting a playground.
  • Xie Wen offered to accept Wado Ichimonji as Zoro's wager, and Zoro agreed.

Ch. 135A Wado Ichimonji Trial Card

Xie Wen defeated Zoro in a sparring match at Isshin Dojo, first knocking him unconscious and then wounding his shoulder during a two-sword fight. Zoro recovered Wado Ichimonji and insisted on another match, while Koshiro pointed him toward breakfast and treatment.

  • Xie Wen knocked Zoro unconscious with Long Moon, picked up Wado Ichimonji to examine it, and returned it to Koshiro.
  • After waking and noticing his missing sword, Zoro charged Xie Wen, who met him with Morning Haze and Kusari in a two-sword fight.
  • Xie Wen cut Zoro's shoulder, and Koshiro stopped the match when the gap between them made continuing too dangerous.
  • Koshiro explained that Xie Wen had only come to spar and returned Wado Ichimonji to Zoro.
  • Zoro demanded a rematch after eating, then ran from the dojo until Koshiro called him back and directed him to the kitchen.

Ch. 136Flying Cat Hiten-Mitsurugi Style vs. Three-Sword Style

Zoro challenged Xie Wen to another match, but Xie Wen sent him to spar with Meow Jūshirō instead. Meow Jūshirō defeated Zoro by exploiting his mistakes and lost composure, then returned to Xie Wen for a reward.

  • Zoro sought out Xie Wen for another match, but Xie Wen directed him to Meow Jūshirō.
  • Zoro apologized for underestimating Meow Jūshirō, introduced himself as a Three-Sword Style swordsman, and challenged him.
  • Meow Jūshirō stopped Zoro’s Oni Giri with a precise thrust and explained the flaws in his attack.
  • Zoro lost his temper, and Meow Jūshirō used Cat Claw Flash and Rolling Flash to knock him down and hold a sword to his neck.
  • Meow Jūshirō declared Zoro defeated, returned to Xie Wen, and enjoyed being petted as the other Palicoes praised him.

Ch. 137The last stop

After training in Shimotsuki Village, Xie Wen and the cats left the East Blue, where they found Sandai Kitetsu and defeated Krieg’s crew. As they approached their final East Blue island, Xie Wen expected to complete a Summon Ticket and summon another Palico.

  • Zoro trained with Meow Jūshirō and sparred with Xie Wen, improving his swordsmanship and renaming many of his moves after cats.
  • Before leaving Shimotsuki Village, Xie Wen gave Zoro Morning Haze and Kusari, and Koshiro gave Xie Wen a booklet of the Shimotsuki Family’s swordsmanship insights.
  • Xie Wen let Klee Meow set off explosives on a deserted island, then found Sandai Kitetsu, whose curse barely affected him; acquiring it gave him no Summon Ticket fragment.
  • Xie Wen and the cats encountered Krieg and his officers and wiped them out, including Gin.
  • Hua Mei Meow told Xie Wen that their next island would be their last East Blue stop and could complete a Summon Ticket; she sent Sanji Meow to help steer the ship.

Ch. 138Healing-type Palico, summon!

Xie Wen completed the map and used the resulting Summon Ticket, discovering that full progress let him choose the Palico type. He chose to summon a Healing-type cat, and the chapter ended with Hua Mei Meow stopping the chaos as the new companion arrived.

  • Xie Wen uploaded the completed map and received a Summon Ticket fragment, then combined it with his existing fragment to make a full ticket.
  • Xie Wen discovered that the ticket’s symbol could be changed to choose among Palico types, including Healing, and decided healing was the team’s priority.
  • Sanji Meow urged Xie Wen to wish for a pretty big sister, but Xie Wen refused and summoned a Healing-type Palico instead.
  • Sanji Meow attacked Xie Wen in anger, Klee Meow joined the scuffle, and Hua Mei Meow broke it up before they could embarrass themselves in front of their new companion.

Ch. 139Hedgehog cat (not really)

Xie Wen and the cats welcomed Ai Haibara Meow after she stumbled out of the rain, and he helped calm her before introducing her to the group. She accepted the Palico Research Commission’s explanation of their new world, though her guarded nature left her past unclear.

  • A sudden downpour began while Xie Wen and the cats listened to Hua Mei Meow, and Xie Wen sheltered them with his umbrella.
  • Ai Haibara Meow emerged from the bushes in a white lab coat and collapsed, so Xie Wen caught her and Klee Meow dried her with a small jet of flame.
  • Xie Wen soothed the frightened kitten, learned her name, and recognized her as Ai Haibara.
  • Xie Wen introduced Ai Haibara Meow to Klee, Sanji, Li Huamei, and Hiko Seijūrō, and Klee warmly hugged her.
  • Xie Wen explained the Palico Research Commission and their world, and Ai Haibara Meow accepted her new situation without revealing much about her past.

Ch. 140Entering the Calm Belt

Xie Wen and the cats chose to cross the Calm Belt toward the Grand Line, where the lack of wind left him laboring at the ship’s sculling oar while the crew encountered Sea Kings and earned a summon-ticket fragment. The journey continued with Ai Haibara Meow uneasy around Klee Meow’s explosives, while Xie Wen looked forward to reaching the South Blue.

  • Xie Wen asked the cats whether they wanted to take the Calm Belt route, and Hua Mei Meow and Klee Meow reassured the reluctant Ai Haibara Meow.
  • The crew steered the Explosion Black Cat Maria into the Calm Belt, where Xie Wen realized the windless sea required him to power the ship by sculling.
  • Hua Mei Meow watched the ship’s course, Meow Jūshirō practiced Mink Tribe Mode, Sanji Meow prepared snacks, and Ai Haibara Meow studied medicine while Klee Meow kept her company.
  • Klee Meow’s attacks on Sea Kings added entries to Xie Wen’s Hunter’s Notes, which produced a white Standard Pool Summon Ticket fragment.
  • Klee Meow invited Ai Haibara Meow to blast fish, but Ai refused after remembering how powerful Klee Meow’s bombs were.

Ch. 141Classic lines

After the Explosion Black Cat Maria entered the Grand Line, Xie Wen rested while Hua Mei Meow handled the ship and helped Ai Haibara Meow join the group. Ai Haibara Meow finally let Xie Wen pet her, then fled in embarrassment after the other cats caught her enjoying it.

  • The Explosion Black Cat Maria left the Calm Belt and entered the rough waters of the Grand Line.
  • Hua Mei Meow ordered Xie Wen to help raise the sails, but he rested with Klee Meow and Ai Haibara Meow instead.
  • Hua Mei Meow and Klee Meow kept Ai Haibara Meow beside Xie Wen, and he gently petted her as she gradually relaxed.
  • Ai Haibara Meow enjoyed Xie Wen's petting until she noticed the other cats watching, then denied liking it, bit his hand, and ran away.

Ch. 142Klee Meow's luck

Xie Wen and the cats relied on Klee Meow’s uncanny luck to choose a course through the Grand Line, and her guidance led them to an island full of explosives. The chapter ended with Klee Meow delightedly exploring Explosion Island while Hua Mei Meow kept her from blowing it up.

  • Xie Wen asked Klee Meow to point out a direction because their Log Pose could not yet guide them, and Hua Mei Meow agreed to follow her luck.
  • Klee Meow’s chosen course brought the ship near a sudden thundercloud that struck the sea with lightning before disappearing, leaving stunned fish for the crew to collect.
  • Ai Haibara Meow learned that Klee Meow’s luck could steer them clear of devastating danger, while Sanji Meow warned that letting her choose every route could lead them into explosions.
  • Xie Wen and the cats followed Klee Meow’s direction to the previously unknown Explosion Island, where its many explosive plants thrilled Klee Meow.
  • Hua Mei Meow kept watch over Klee Meow to prevent her from blowing up the island, while Xie Wen worried about what she might do with even more powerful explosives.

Ch. 143Explosion Island

Xie Wen and the cats explored Blasting Town, where Klee Meow bought explosives and the group sampled local explosive liquor, but they failed to find an Eternal Pose. Xie Wen decided to ask Morgans for help locating one.

  • Xie Wen led the cats around Blasting Town, buying Klee Meow a large assortment of explosives while the others gathered local food and books.
  • Hua Mei Meow rejected the town's practical clothing, and Xie Wen and Meow Jūshirō sampled explosive liquor before leaving with a barrel.
  • The group realized that none of the shops sold an Eternal Pose, so Ai Haibara Meow asked what they would do next.
  • Xie Wen said he would contact Morgans for help now that they knew their location, then petted Ai Haibara Meow as she shyly leaned into his hand.

Ch. 144I'm still a kid!

Xie Wen called Morgans from Explosion Island and arranged to receive an Eternal Pose in exchange for explaining how he crossed the Calm Belt. Morgans sent him toward St. Poplar Island, where a Devil Fruit auction and a chance to visit Water 7 awaited.

  • Xie Wen told Morgans he had crossed the Calm Belt using Seastone on his ship and agreed to explain the method in exchange for an Eternal Pose.
  • Morgans agreed to send the Eternal Pose, rejected Xie Wen’s suggestion that a News Coo guide him, and asked for a Vivre Card.
  • Xie Wen offered to send Morgans a Vivre Card if he could find somewhere on Explosion Island that made them.
  • Morgans revealed that the Eternal Pose pointed to St. Poplar Island, where a Devil Fruit auction would soon take place.
  • Morgans warned Xie Wen about Spring Queen City and explained that St. Poplar Island’s Sea Train connection could help him gather travel-guide material and find more Eternal Poses.
  • Xie Wen realized he could visit Water 7 to upgrade his ship and looked forward to receiving the Eternal Pose.

Ch. 145Eternal Pose

Xie Wen and the cats waited for Morgans’s News Coo to deliver an Eternal Pose to Explosion Island. After it arrived, Xie Wen handed it to Hua Mei Meow and ordered everyone to set sail.

  • Xie Wen woke up surrounded by the cats, then teased Ai Haibara Meow when she tried to kick his face.
  • Sanji Meow offered to make breakfast for the girls and angrily kicked Xie Wen when he asked for soup dumplings.
  • Hua Mei Meow asked whether the Eternal Pose would arrive that day, and Xie Wen confirmed Morgans had said it would come in three days.
  • Morgans’s News Coo landed on the Explosion Black Cat Maria and handed Xie Wen the Eternal Pose after pecking him away from its bag.
  • Xie Wen gave the News Coo a piece of Vivre Card, passed the Eternal Pose to Hua Mei Meow, and ordered everyone to set sail.

Ch. 146Spring Queen City

Xie Wen took the cats around Spring Queen City to ask about an auction and entered a Heave-Ho Panda shop, where he encountered Stussy. Ai Haibara Meow reacted warily to Stussy, leaving Xie Wen to wonder whether she had awakened a special form of Observation Haki.

  • Xie Wen toured Spring Queen City with the cats and avoided its Pleasure District while asking about the auction.
  • Xie Wen entered a Heave-Ho Panda shop to order custom clothes for Ai Haibara Meow, who bristled and stared at a fitting-room door.
  • Stussy emerged from the fitting room, and Xie Wen recognized her as the Queen of the Pleasure District and a CP0 agent.
  • Stussy flirted with Xie Wen and joked about the cats, while Klee Meow sensed no malice and pulled a face at her.
  • Stussy gave Xie Wen a lipstick-marked card and left, after which Ai Haibara Meow and Hua Mei Meow bit him for staring at her.

Ch. 147Ai Haibara Meow's "Black Organization Radar"

Xie Wen learned more about the cats’ Observation Haki and planned for a crowded auction where he wanted to buy both a Devil Fruit and Treasure Tree Adam. He sold a spare Devil Fruit and arrived at the auction alone, where he spotted Stussy and several wanted pirates.

  • Xie Wen ordered tailored clothes for the cats, and Ai Haibara Meow confirmed she had just awakened Observation Haki.
  • Hua Mei Meow revealed that her Observation Haki had awakened during a tornado and was especially suited to sensing weather over a wide range.
  • Xie Wen learned that Spring Queen City’s auction would feature a Devil Fruit and Treasure Tree Adam, and he worried about having enough Beli to bid on both.
  • Hua Mei Meow suggested selling Xie Wen’s spare Chopper fruit, while he chose to keep his swords for his own use.
  • Xie Wen went alone to the auction, spotted Stussy and several wanted pirates, and waited for bidding to begin.

Ch. 148A certain unknown Reindeer Fruit

Xie Wen won Treasure Tree Adam at the Saint Blabo auction and watched the auction house sell his unidentified Reindeer Fruit for 820 million Beli. With the other bidders’ funds depleted, he expected to have a clear chance at the remaining Devil Fruit.

  • Xie Wen outbid the pirates and bought Treasure Tree Adam for 230 million Beli.
  • A disruptive pirate named Som and his first mate Kachien were shot dead after Som threatened the auction host, Lilia.
  • Lilia presented Xie Wen’s Reindeer Fruit as an unidentified Devil Fruit, despite Xie Wen having told the auction house what it was days earlier.
  • The bidders competed fiercely for the Reindeer Fruit, and one pirate bought it for 820 million Beli.
  • Xie Wen concluded that the sale had drained the other bidders’ funds and left him well positioned to bid on the remaining Devil Fruit.

Ch. 149The Ox-Ox Fruit again

Xie Wen won the Giraffe-Giraffe Fruit at a bargain price and discovered its encyclopedia entry unlocked a new Zoan summoning pool. After Stussy warned him that pirates would target him, Xie Wen left the auction house carrying the purchased items, with a crowd following him.

  • Xie Wen recognized the second Devil Fruit as the Giraffe-Giraffe Fruit, and he won it for 317.6 million Beli after other bidders backed away.
  • Xie Wen checked the Hunter's Notes, unlocked the fruit's entry, and received a giraffe-patterned Summon Ticket fragment that changed to antler patterns when he rubbed it.
  • Stussy approached Xie Wen, teased him about his wealth, and warned him that pirates would not let him leave with the Devil Fruit easily.
  • Xie Wen realized Stussy's warning had made him a target and suspected she wanted him to fight the pirates before she intervened.
  • Xie Wen completed the transaction and walked toward the harbor with two cases as the pirates followed him.

Ch. 150Sailing Away Fully Laden

Xie Wen and his cats fought off the pirates who tried to surround their ship after the Devil Fruit auction. With Stussy nowhere in sight, they left Spring Queen City and set course for Water 7.

  • Klee Meow greeted Xie Wen aboard the Explosion Black Cat Maria and warned him that pirates were gathering to attack.
  • As the pirate ships pursued and surrounded them, Klee Meow launched upgraded Whoosh-Whoosh Bombs that incapacitated most of their crews.
  • Xie Wen assigned the remaining pirates to Sanji Meow and Meow Jūshirō, kept Klee Meow aboard to guard the ship, and joined the cats in defeating the survivors.
  • Xie Wen looted the pirate ships, failed to extract Devil Fruits from three users, collected their bounty heads, and sank the ships.
  • Hua Mei Meow sensed no one else nearby, so Xie Wen raised anchor and sailed toward Water 7 using the Sea Train tracks and the pirates' navigational records.
