As usual, Xie Wen woke beneath the heavy weight of cats pinning him to the bed.
Strange, why did the weight on me feel a little off?
Lifting his head slightly to glance down, he saw not only the familiar Klee Meow on his chest, but also some of Ai Haibara Meow's light brown fur behind her, along with a corner of her white lab coat.

With a sly grin, Xie Wen tried to raise a hand to pet the little tsundere cat, only to discover that Hua Mei Meow was hugging his right hand, pinning it firmly beneath her, while the little brat Sanji Meow had restrained his left hand in exactly the same way.
The only one not weighing him down was that utterly loyal retainer, Meow Jūshirō. Even so, he had not gone far, lying snug against Xie Wen in the gap between his left arm and his body.
After just half a second of consideration, Xie Wen shook his left arm free of the little brat Sanji Meow's embrace, then gently rotated his right hand. After waking Hua Mei Meow, he carefully slipped that hand out too, then placed one hand each on Klee Meow and Ai Haibara Meow and gently stroked them a few times.
"Time to get up, you little sleepyheads~"
"Good morning, Xie Wen, meow~" Klee Meow opened her eyes and happily rubbed against his palm and chin, then went through the classic routine of stretching, kneading, licking her fur, and washing her face.

The other cat he was petting, Ai Haibara Meow, gave her customary "Hmph" and pushed his palm away with a look of distaste. She did not get off him, however, instead sitting on him to groom her fur just like Klee Meow.
