A few days passed, and Doflamingo's bandages had already come off. The bodies of the powerhouses in the One Piece World really were like cheat codes. Kaido had beaten Doflamingo to within an inch of his life, yet in just a few short days, he had almost fully recovered.
With only the bandages on his face remaining, Doflamingo wore a new pair of sunglasses and silently read a newspaper.
Only now did he finally understand why Kaido had suddenly come over and beaten him up a few days earlier.
Doflamingo felt that nobody understood how terrifying Kaido was better than he did... after all, he had just taken a beating from him a few days ago...
He had been unable to resist from beginning to end, like a child struggling in an adult's grasp, helpless as someone toyed with him however they pleased. That feeling had left a deep impression on him, and filled him with fear.
He could hardly imagine that Kaido, who was as terrifying as an invincible demon god, could ever end up in such a sorry state. That was a level of power beyond his comprehension.
He suddenly remembered that his first meeting with Su Yu had not exactly been pleasant. The reason Kaido had gone to make trouble for Su Yu was that, after returning, Doflamingo had been unable to swallow the humiliation. He had wanted to use Kaido to teach Su Yu a painful lesson. If Kaido hit a little too hard and killed him, all the better.
But who could have imagined that an obscure bar owner would be an unparalleled powerhouse capable of crushing Kaido?! If you're that strong, why don't you just say so?! And who would expect someone that powerful to be content running a little bar somewhere outside the New World?!
The always-arrogant Doflamingo suddenly felt a deep, genuine terror, as though someone had seized him by the throat.
He did not know whether Su Yu knew that Kaido had wrecked the bar at Doflamingo's urging. If he did, Doflamingo would certainly die. There was no question about it. If Su Yu wanted to kill him, nobody would be willing to protect him, and nobody had the power to withstand Su Yu's wrath.
But Doflamingo felt that, given Kaido's personality, he probably would not have brought it up with Su Yu. Most likely, he had taken Su Yu's beating in silence, just as he had beaten Doflamingo in silence. Viewed that way, there should still be room to turn things around. After all, he had never openly offended Su Yu; instead, Su Yu had been the one to humiliate him.
Unfortunately, Doflamingo did not know that Su Yu had already guessed he was the mastermind. Even without this incident, Doflamingo had already landed on Su Yu's blacklist, for no other reason than that his men had bullied Su Yu's kid!
Doflamingo had no idea that, in Su Yu's eyes, he was already marked for death. He was still wondering whether he should send Su Yu some gifts to ease the tension between them...
Time passed peacefully like that, and soon, a month had gone by.
That day, another guest with quite a reputation on the seas arrived at Su Yu's bar.
He had a fine head of blond hair styled into a cool punk cut that looked like a pineapple from a distance. His shirt hung open, revealing a tattoo on his muscular chest that struck fear into people's hearts: a cross sporting a crescent-shaped mustache. Anyone with even a little knowledge would recognize what that tattoo represented-it was Whitebeard's symbol!
That was right. The newcomer was the commander of the Whitebeard Pirates' First Division, Marco the Phoenix.
This scruffy fellow, who looked like a washed-up middle-aged man, was nevertheless the undisputed second-in-command of the Whitebeard Pirates.
Pirates who made it to the Sabaody Archipelago generally had some basic knowledge of the world. At the very least, they certainly knew who the Four Emperors and the Shichibukai were. So the moment Marco entered, every pirate in the bar recognized this famous powerhouse.
But pirates were pirates. Although they knew Marco was certainly stronger than they were-he was a powerhouse who could rival an Admiral-they were all fellow pirates, so they were not worried that he would suddenly attack them. Rather than feeling much fear, they simply shifted most of their attention from the drinks in front of them to Marco.
Marco surveyed the bar, paying no attention at all to those "small-time pirates" whose bounties were only a few hundred million. His gaze landed directly on Su Yu, who sat quietly reading on a sofa in the corner, seemingly cut off from his surroundings. A somewhat conflicted expression crossed Marco's face.
How could he not feel conflicted? After all, just a month earlier, this handsome "young man" before him had taken the title of World's Strongest from his Pops.
Although Pops had taken it in stride, Marco, as his son, felt a little unhappy about it. After all, every child wanted his father to be the strongest in the world.
Marco had not actually wanted to come. But after agonizing over it for more than ten days, he had finally decided that he had to make the trip. There was only one reason: his Pops, Whitebeard, was gradually deteriorating. Although Marco's flames were called the flames of regeneration, he was helpless when it came to Whitebeard's condition.
So Marco had decided to try his luck with Su Yu.
As always, in the One Piece World, strength was the measure of everything. A powerful person's words carried weight, and his strength alone could serve as proof.
So once Kaido had put Su Yu's strength to the test, people had gradually begun to accept his claim that he could grant any wish. That was also why Marco was willing to try his luck.
In fact, others had come to make wishes before, asking for long lives, restored youth, and other things that sounded rather far-fetched. But although Su Yu could easily have done such things and was quite willing to, unfortunately, those people had been unable to offer a price to match.
So Marco did not know whether Su Yu could do something like that, either, but he was willing to try. And with the resources of the Whitebeard Pirates, they could certainly afford the price.
That was why Marco had appeared here.
Marco glanced at the few pirates in the bar and frowned. Then he cleared his throat, drawing the attention of everyone except Su Yu and Miland.
"Ahem. I know this is a little rude, but could I ask you all to leave for a while?"
The pirates' expressions darkened at his words, but they did not dare provoke a member of the Whitebeard Pirates. Yes, fighting was forbidden in the bar, but could they really stay there forever?
If they refused to leave when the bar closed, Su Yu would probably kick them out before Marco even had to lift a finger...
So, after a moment's hesitation, all the pirates obediently left.
Now, only Marco, Miland, and Su Yu remained in the bar.
