Background / History

Loss of His Home and the Wish-Granting Bar

Miland once had a happy family in A Queen. The Fierce Wolf Pirates destroyed the village and killed his parents, leaving him without a home. Before reaching the Wish-Granting Bar, he was rescued during a storm by a merchant convoy, which he later left 9 12 20.

Seeking enough strength to rival the Shichibukai, Miland accepted Su Yu’s offer: power to accomplish his goal in exchange for returning afterward to work for him. As the bar’s first real customer, he received special treatment, including the God Cloth of Pegasus and memories teaching him its signature attack 6 9.

Testing the Cloth

Miland’s first opponent was Abel, who could not injure him even with a full-strength, Armament Haki-coated punch. Miland then evaded Abel’s attempt to strike his face and countered with a punch that overcame Iron Body, prompting the Rear Admiral to concede 7.

Su Yu next arranged fights against pirates interested in taking the Cloth. Miland overwhelmed Bonecrusher Sada, but his inexperience allowed six other pirates to restrain him and shoot his exposed forehead. The bullet bounced away, revealing that the Cloth protected even uncovered areas. Miland broke free and killed the attackers with Pegasus Meteor Fist 8 9.

Revenge Against the Fierce Wolf Pirates

Using a special Log Pose from Su Yu, Miland flew through the night to an island tavern occupied by the Fierce Wolf Pirates. Their failure to remember him or A Queen enraged him. He killed the crew and defeated their captain, Fierce Wolf 10 12.

Fierce Wolf attempted to save himself by invoking Doflamingo and the Donquixote Family. Miland ignored the threat and crushed his head underfoot. Afterward, satisfaction gave way to emptiness until he remembered his promise to return to Su Yu. He compensated the tavern owner with the dead pirates’ money and departed for Sabaody 12.

The strain of pursuing revenge caught up with him during the return journey, forcing him to sleep for an entire day. When he finally reached the bar, Su Yu gave him a room and assigned him serving, customer service, and cleaning duties. Miland felt that he had found a home again 16.

Life and Training Under Su Yu

Miland became the bar’s only employee besides its owner. His public victories earned him the nickname “Armor Boy,” while reports of his transformation drew criminal leaders and the Revolutionary Army to seek similar armor 20 21.

Doflamingo personally confronted him over the Fierce Wolf Pirates’ deaths. Miland equipped his Cloth but restrained his anger because Su Yu disliked fighting inside the bar. Su Yu intervened and drove Doflamingo, Pica, and Diamante away 23.

After defeating Kaido, Su Yu forced him into a contract forbidding harm to Miland or the bar and requiring him to help when Miland could not handle an attacker. The arrangement anticipated Su Yu’s eventual departure from the world 35.

Su Yu also educated Miland about prominent figures, factions, and general knowledge. By the end of his subsequent studies and combat training, Miland had acquired extensive scholarship and markedly improved strength, though Doflamingo remained an opponent he could not reliably defeat 42 50.

Appearance

Miland initially appears as a frail, delicate-looking boy; wearing the Cloth gives him a striking armored appearance 7 12.

  • Armor: Silver-white with golden patterns, comprising a headpiece, arm guards, breastplate, and leg guards 6.
  • Wings: A pair of metal wings on his back, used for flight 9 12.
  • Exposed areas: Parts of his body remain visibly uncovered, leading enemies to mistakenly assume they are vulnerable 7 9.

Personality

Miland’s early actions are driven by grief and revenge. Gaining power rapidly replaces his initial fear with confidence, and he shows little hesitation in brutally defeating pirates associated with his suffering. Nevertheless, vengeance leaves him briefly directionless rather than permanently satisfied 7 8 12.

He is deeply grateful and loyal to Su Yu. He accepts his unpaid work without complaint, finds comfort in the bar’s everyday routine, and respects his employer’s decisions even when dealing with people he hates 9 20 23 46.

Miland also demonstrates perseverance and growing intellectual curiosity. Reading becomes increasingly enjoyable as his understanding improves, and he continues painful combat training because he recognizes that strength is essential to survival 50.

Abilities & Skills

Cloth-Enhanced Strength, Speed, and Reflexes

The God Cloth turns Miland from an untrained boy into a formidable combatant 6 7.

  • Sends Abel flying through Iron Body with a lightly exerted punch 7.
  • Moves fast enough to leave afterimages and initially matches the apparent speed of Shave; this is enhanced movement, not documented mastery of the Six Powers technique 7 8.
  • Overwhelms Sada despite the pirate’s Observation and Armament Haki 8.
  • Retains an improved physique even after removing the Cloth 9.

Full-Body Protection

Attacks against exposed skin are transferred to the Cloth, rather than bypassing it 9.

  • Absorbs Abel’s full-strength Armament Haki attack without injury 7.
  • Deflects a bullet fired directly at Miland’s forehead 9.
  • Protects the wearer from bodily harm until the Cloth is completely shattered 9.
  • Does not eliminate fatigue: Miland still experiences heavy stamina expenditure and later physical and mental exhaustion 9 16.

Pegasus Meteor Fist

Su Yu implants the technique’s movements into Miland’s memory when granting the Cloth 6.

  • Unleashes a barrage resembling meteors trailing blue flames 9.
  • Kills six attacking pirates in its first demonstrated use 8 9.
  • Rayleigh judges its power at least comparable to a great swordsman’s slash 9.
  • Consumes a substantial amount of stamina, leaving Miland breathless afterward 9.

Flight and Armor Control

Miland controls the Cloth through silent mental commands 9.

  • “Retrieve” withdraws it into a pendant roughly the size of a gold coin 9.
  • “Equip” restores the complete armor in less than a second 9.
  • Its wings enable sustained flight, including his overnight journey to the Fierce Wolf Pirates 10 12.

Enhanced Cognition and Scholarship

The God Cloth improves Miland’s thinking ability, allowing him to absorb an unusually large amount of knowledge 50.

  • Studies medicine, navigation, astronomy, sea charts, weather, history, and Haki 50.
  • Learns to recognize major figures and understand relationships between factions 42.
  • Is described as possessing world-class knowledge worthy of a scholar; studying Haki does not establish that he can use it 50.

Combat Limitations

  • Early inexperience allows coordinated pirates to restrain him despite his superior attributes 8.
  • After a month of training, he still cannot reliably defeat Doflamingo 50.
  • Su Yu identifies Doflamingo’s puppet strings as a particularly restrictive threat to him 50.

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • God Cloth of Pegasus — Created by Su Yu, based on the Pegasus Cloth from Saint Seiya. Although weaker than the original God Cloth, it grants Miland his principal combat abilities and transforms into a portable pendant 6 9.
  • Special Log Pose — Given by Su Yu; points toward whatever Miland wants to find and guides him to the Fierce Wolf Pirates 9 10 12.

Relationships

  • Su Yu — Benefactor, employer, teacher, and protective parental figure. Su Yu privately calls Miland “my kid,” shields him from Doflamingo, and reserves that enemy for Miland to confront after becoming stronger 9 16 23 50.
  • Parents — Killed by the Fierce Wolf Pirates; their deaths motivate his pursuit of revenge 12.
  • Fierce Wolf — His parents’ killer and principal revenge target. Miland kills him despite his appeal to Doflamingo’s protection 12.
  • Doflamingo — Enemy and superior of the Fierce Wolf Pirates. Miland holds him partly responsible for their actions, while Su Yu treats defeating him as a future goal for Miland 23 50.
  • Kaido — Contract-bound protector, obligated to assist Miland against threats beyond his ability 35.
  • Abel — First sparring opponent and witness to the Cloth’s capabilities; concedes defeat and reports the transformation to Sengoku 7 10.
  • Rayleigh — Witness to his early battles and a regular customer whom Miland serves without needing a drink order 7 9 21.
  • Diamante — Doflamingo’s subordinate. Miland openly distrusts his attempted apology but leaves the decision to Su Yu 46.
