The pirates had already begun imagining how their strength and bounties would soar once they got the Cloth. Then they could kill one of the Shichibukai and take his place. Wouldn't that put them at the pinnacle of life!
Su Yu shook his head at the unrestrained grins creeping across their faces.
He glanced at Miland, who looked as though he hadn't had enough of the fight, then said to the pirates, "You all seem pretty interested in this Cloth. Want to give it a try? Anyone who beats Miland can earn its recognition!"
Miland's heart tightened at Su Yu's words, but he was a boy who had been through his share of trouble. After a moment's thought, he realized Su Yu wanted him to get familiar with the Cloth's power. His eyes lit up. To be honest, just seeing pirates now stirred an inexplicable anger inside him.
The pirates were overjoyed. This was exactly the opportunity they had been hoping for! They eyed their "competition," each wanting to go first, and glared fiercely at one another. If Su Yu hadn't been there, they would have started fighting on the spot.
Finally, Su Yu couldn't stand watching anymore and picked someone at random. The chosen pirate was delighted. The others could only watch resentfully as he stepped forward, not daring to object.
The pirate was a hulking man with bulging muscles and a pair of spiked gloves on his hands. He stared viciously at Miland. "Kid, remember the name of the man who beats you: Bonecrusher Sada!"
Normally, he would never have left anyone alive, but he couldn't quite figure out how Su Yu felt about Miland, so he didn't dare mention killing him.
Miland stood before him, their sizes forming a stark contrast. Sada's savage aura seemed almost tangible as it bore down on Miland's face.
But Miland was no longer the frail boy he had been. The earlier test had built his confidence. Since his boss said this Cloth could rival the Shichibukai, he believed he could definitely beat the pirate before him.
So this time, he charged first!
Moving as fast as Shave, he vanished from where he stood. When he reappeared, he was already right in front of Sada, throwing a punch!
Sada was startled, but he was still a formidable pirate. He quickly coated his fists in Armament Haki and raised them in front of his face. With a metallic clang, Miland's fist struck his arm, driving him backward. His feet scraped sparks from the floor, but he managed to block the punch.
Sada shook out his numbed arm and stared gravely at Miland. He had to admit that the blow was more powerful than he had imagined. This fight wasn't going to be easy!
What he didn't know was that Miland had used only half his strength!
Miland stopped holding back. He vanished again, but this time he appeared behind Sada rather than in front of him, driving a fist straight into his lower back. Though Sada had kept his Observation Haki locked on Miland, the boy was moving twice as fast as before!
Sada had no time to dodge. He could only concentrate his Armament Haki on his lower back, planning to endure the blow before counterattacking. But once again, the power of Miland's punch exceeded his expectations. A tremendous force struck his waist, so powerful that it reminded him of Sea Kings. Then his lower back went numb, and he felt himself leave the ground as his entire body was sent flying forward.
Miland vanished once more. When he reappeared, he was right in Sada's flight path, throwing another punch!
Sada couldn't react at all. All he could do was gather as much Armament Haki as possible to defend himself.
And so it went: a punch, sent flying, another punch, sent flying again, then another punch, and another flight...
In truth, Sada couldn't take it anymore after five or six punches. He wanted to beg for mercy, but he couldn't get a single word out, and Miland had no intention of letting him go.
Punch after punch, Miland struck him well over a dozen times before finally stopping. With no more blows keeping him airborne, Sada fell to the floor. His face was covered in bruises, blood streamed from his mouth, nostrils, and ears, and his eyes had rolled back to show their whites. He looked as though he wouldn't survive...
Less than a minute had passed since he had first taunted Miland!
Seeing Miland take Sada down so cleanly, without Sada seemingly able to fight back at all, sent a chill through the remaining pirates. Abel was stunned too. Good grief, the kid hadn't even been using his full strength earlier.
Miland looked at Sada lying on the floor. He felt neither fear nor the slightest discomfort. Instead, he was filled with excitement. He had power now. He could take revenge!
Was that reasonable? He was a child of the pirate world, after all. It was perfectly reasonable.
Then Miland looked at the remaining pirates, waiting for the next one to come and die.
The pirates exchanged glances. After watching Miland's earlier "performance," they had lost both their confidence and their courage. All they wanted now was to get out of this tavern as quickly as possible!
Seeing that they were ready to back down, Su Yu gave them another push. "If you don't dare fight him alone, you can all go together. That's fine."
The pirates exchanged another look, then gritted their teeth. Let's do it! Take a gamble, and we could hit the jackpot!
Abel opened his mouth to say something, but after another glance at Su Yu's calm face, he ultimately said nothing.
Miland looked at the six vicious pirates before him without a trace of fear.
The pirates exchanged glances, then four of them rushed Miland, trying to keep him occupied. The other two stayed where they were, drew their guns, and aimed at the parts of his body the armor didn't cover.
Miland didn't panic when all four pirates rushed him at once. Though his armor was sturdy, he still tried his best to dodge their attacks.
But he was still an inexperienced boy. In the end, the cunning pirates found an opening, and one grabbed him from behind. Seeing their companion succeed, the others quickly pinned the boy's limbs.
Miland couldn't break free right away, and the two pirates with guns gave him no chance to try. They aimed straight at his face and fired without hesitation!
Several shots cracked out, and the bullets reached Miland in an instant. He was starting to panic now, but the pirates held him too tightly for him to break free. He could only watch as the bullets struck his forehead...
