Brian’s duel with Gilderoy Lockhart’s reflected Memory Charm shattered Lockhart’s memories and soul, leading Brian to help treat him at St. Mungo’s. After meeting Neville and learning about his parents’ condition, Brian persuaded Snape to work with him on charm-infused potions that might heal soul damage.

• Sirius and Lupin took Harry from the Dursleys, and Brian later arranged for Harry to visit the Weasleys at the Burrow.
• Brian joined the Weasleys and the Grangers in Diagon Alley, where Lucius Malfoy insulted Hermione and Mr. Granger knocked him unconscious.
• At Lockhart’s book signing, Lockhart tried to attack Brian with a Memory Charm, but Brian reflected it and caused Lockhart’s soul and memories to split into fragments.
• Brian gathered the fragments back into Lockhart while Dumbledore examined him, then helped Miriam Strout and Director Bonham treat Lockhart at St. Mungo’s.
• Brian met Neville Longbottom and learned that Neville’s parents had been tortured into insanity, prompting him to consider whether he could help them.
• Brian tracked Snape to Spinner's End, where Snape tested Brian’s memories and showed him the children he secretly protected.
• Brian demonstrated potions carrying incorporated charms to Snape, who warned that incompatibility could be fatal and agreed to partner with him after Brian invoked Neville’s parents.
• Lockhart awoke at St. Mungo’s and drank Brian’s burning potion, which Brian said would keep his primary consciousness present longer.

Brian helped the Longbottoms recover fragments of their minds, investigated Voldemort’s Horcruxes, and stopped a Dementor attack on the Hogwarts Express. At the Sorting Feast, the Sorting Hat drew him into a vision of the Four Founders and left him to choose his own house, while accidentally announcing Azkaban instead.

• Brian forced Lockhart to sign a contract, then gave the Longbottoms a soothing draught that briefly restored Frank and Alice’s memories and consciousness.
• Frank warned Brian and Mrs. Longbottom that Voldemort had made a Horcrux in Bellatrix’s golden cup, and Brian and Dumbledore identified the Ravenclaw diadem as another possible Horcrux.
• Brian and Dumbledore considered whether Harry contained a piece of Voldemort’s soul, while Brian and Snape improved their potion and tested it on Lockhart.
• At the Hogwarts Express, Umbridge offered Brian a Ministry post and argued against practical magic lessons, but Neville’s Trevor caused her to hallucinate.

Brian uncovered Voldemort’s plans to use Harry’s blood, helped thwart the resurrection ritual, and joined the effort to recover Hufflepuff’s Cup. The Order of the Phoenix relocated the Dementors to Azkaban’s new guards, while black smoke began reshaping Peter Pettigrew in Nurmengard.

• Brian and Dobby used the House-elf Magical Power Network to find Umbridge, whom Peeves had swallowed, and Brian captured her with Dumbledore’s Poké Ball before the Ghost Office task force arrived.
• Tom Riddle possessed Percy Weasley, opened the Chamber of Secrets, and was swallowed by the Basilisk, and Dumbledore retrieved the Diary, and its soul fragment terrified Fudge into madness.
• Dumbledore warned Brian that Voldemort sought Harry’s blood, and Brian tracked Nagini after Draco threw her box into the Black Lake.
• Marietta Edgecombe lured Fred Weasley, disguised as Harry, to a sabotaged mirror that destroyed his eye, while Voldemort’s ritual failed after using Fred’s blood instead of Harry’s.
• Tonks and Moody stole Hufflepuff’s Cup from the Lestrange Vault, and Brian and Moody caught the black-smoke spy sent to check on it.
• Brian agreed that Nicolas and Perenelle Flamel’s three rapidly grown children could guard Azkaban, and he prepared with his Clone to restart their risky memory experiment.
