Background / History
The Demon Abyss is an ancient, long-contested battlefield where Great Gan confronts the Demon Realm. It serves as both humanity's defensive frontier and a proving ground for its elite soldiers, with the Divine Might Army stationed there year-round 152.
The realm faces the Profound Demon Realm, inhabited by the diverse Demon Race. Its ruling Nether Race is noted for its small population, innate combat ability, and unpredictable racial divine abilities; ancient noble-blooded variants are said to be born at Dharma Aspect or even Spirit Connecting Realm 152.
For the Demon Race, the Demon Abyss is also inseparable from the legacy of the Demon Suppressing Prison. The tower once suppressed and killed countless Demon God ancestors, leaving it embedded in the racial memory as humanity's ultimate weapon and the Demon Race's “eternal scar” 240 242.
During the renewed war, the Demon Suppressing Prison manifested above Shenwu Pass, awakening ancient Demon Race powers and drawing armies from throughout the Abyss toward the nine human passes 240 242. The conflict culminated in the Human Race completing the Nine Dragons Swallowing Heaven Great Array, sealing the Demon Abyss and adapting its Origin through the blood and souls shed during the war 310 311.
After Shenwu Marquis Dugu Xin sacrificed himself to close the remaining gap between the Demon Abyss Origin and the Eastern Spirit Domain's Laws, the Abyss ceased to be the Mo Race's rear territory and became Human Race territory 319.
Environment
- The primordial energy is chaotic and mixed with corrosive demonic energy that can erode divine sense 158.
- Its terrain includes hostile regions such as Bone Slope, Ghostly Swamp, Blood Prison, Death Mist Marsh, Wailing Abyss, and the Endless Blood Sea 170 171 176 242.
- Ghostly Swamp contains toxic mist, wraiths, dormant demon lords, and demonic creatures stronger than Black Tooth 171.
- The Blood Prison is a deep region of the Abyss marked by a dark-crimson sky, viscous blood rivers, and the White Bone Demon Hall of Nether Spring Demon Lord 176.
- The realm contains mines of Demonic Fiend Crystals, defended by Demon Race forces such as Minotaur Demons 167.
- The Demon Suppressing Prison exists within the Demon Abyss as a separate suppressive sanctuary and prison for ancient demons that could not be killed 185.
Military Merit System
Military merit is the sole recognized measure of status within the Demon Abyss. Background, sect support, noble rank, and even imperial decrees carry no practical authority there 152 156.
| Military achievement | Recorded value |
|---|---|
| Low-level demon head | 1 Military Merit 156 |
| Mid-level demon head | 100 Military Merit 156 |
| Demon Commander head | 1,000 Military Merit 156 |
Military merit can be exchanged for supplies, cultivation techniques, weapons, elixirs, and qualifications for military advancement or enfeoffment 152 156.
