"If this is the commission, then-how do we decide the [winner]?"
Right after Dio spoke, Pariston's irritating voice rang out at an inopportune moment yet again.
Even though Ciyutuo had done everything he could to get the Hunters to take the matter seriously.
But Pariston seemed entirely unconcerned with how many people would die. All he cared about was winning or losing the game before him.
His expression remained unruffled, his hands clasped behind his back. Completely ignoring the glares from Cheadle, Mizaistom, and the others, he smiled and said, "This isn't something one or two people can resolve, is it? Splitting our forces will only lead to needless Hunter casualties, but if we all work together, wouldn't that violate the [rules] we established earlier?"
At that, Ciyutuo looked around in bewilderment. Clearly, he knew absolutely nothing about the Hunter Association's internal affairs, such as the election for Vice-Chairman.
"If there's no other choice, we should put the mission first, even if it means abandoning the election."
Cheadle shot Pariston a disgusted glare, then turned to Chairman Netero. "We have to choose the lesser of two evils. You understand that too, don't you, Chairman?"
Cheadle's meaning was clear. Ciyutuo was commissioning the Hunter Association on behalf of the Ochima Federation, so this mission had to succeed. Failure was not an option.
Otherwise, the Hunter Association's reputation would certainly suffer, and V5 would exert pressure accordingly.
"Ah-you have a point there-"
Yet despite those words, Netero's expression remained composed, without a trace of tension.
For Netero, whose life experience was several times greater than Cheadle's,
the crisis Ciyutuo described really did not amount to anything major.
At most, it was merely a [natural disaster] affecting a single region.
Given the population density of the Furla region, the death toll would top
