Cheadle passed the Hunter Exam at fifteen and had studied Nen for nine years by the time she offered to teach Dio. Regarded as a genius since childhood, she nevertheless spent a very long time developing Dr. Yorkshire 11 12.

At the National Medical University, she made an exception to her usual practice of not accepting students and took Dio as her pupil. His pioneering undergraduate research convinced her that he could eventually earn star ratings as a Diseases Hunter. She personally invited him to pursue both master's and doctoral studies under her supervision, but he declined after graduation 6.

She continued looking after his prospects, including offering help with future employment. When she learned of his shipwreck, she considered commissioning Hunters to search for him, then received intelligence confirming his rescue 3 6.

Secret Court Explosion and Escape

After Dio contacts her about a new discovery, Cheadle unexpectedly recruits him as the replacement clerk for Sangli's Secret Court hearing beneath Hundred-Ring Island. She vouches for him because she trusts his competence and objectivity, even allowing him to read the case file before proceedings begin 6 7 8.

When Sangli triggers an explosion, Cheadle rushes to shield Dio, believing he has no Nen defenses. Dio uses The World to pull them outside the blast's core, but the shock wave throws them into a passage and collapses the courtroom entrance. He then revives her with Ripple 9 10.

Cheadle lends him aura and Dr. Yorkshire to protect him from Post-Mortem Nen. Together, they conclude that Kakin likely engineered the explosion to destroy the trial records and used the lingering Nen to obstruct their recovery. With a map supplied by Piyon, Cheadle leads Dio to an exit and a waiting Hunter Association ship 10 11 12.

Dio's Nen Training and Confidential Commission

Recognizing Ripple's medical value, Cheadle asks Dio to become a Hunter and join her team. He refuses team membership but offers to help with his ability. She then proposes Nen instruction in exchange for assistance with a confidential task, promising that it will not harm him 12.
