Chapter 183: An invitation × the Steal Chain × I've got something special!
At eight sharp, the phone in the Twelfth Prince's Room rang. A communications soldier from the King's Army informed Joey, who answered, that the call was from the Fourth Prince's Room.
"Please put it through. Thank you."
The entire ship's telephone system was monitored by the King's Army, and junior princes were not entitled to contact senior princes of their own accord.
The rigidity of Kakin's hierarchy and the complexity of its rules had certainly been an eye-opener for Joey.
"Hello, this is Danjin. On behalf of His Highness the Fourth Prince, I would like to invite DIO and Kurapika to lunch. We hope to receive your reply as soon as possible."
Joey had met the man on the other end of the line. After all, he came to Room 12 every morning to study Nen.
"This is DIO. We are honored to receive His Highness the Fourth Prince's invitation."
"Very well. Then, once the lesson ends at noon, I will accompany you back to the Fourth District."
"Sorry for the trouble."
Their exchange was brief but very polite.
After hanging up, however, Joey raised an eyebrow. Why had Danjin mentioned his name first?
No matter how one looked at it, Kurapika should have been the person in charge of the Twelfth Prince's Room. For the most part, Joey had presented himself as an unremarkable guard soldier.
He had only shown Danjin his En, and had never spoken with him.
So had Danjin put him first unintentionally, or deliberately?
If it had been deliberate, what was his purpose?
Joey could not think of one, because revealing something this way would only make him more wary.
Or had Danjin merely learned something and subconsciously put his name first?
