"We can't lock onto him. I've tried many times before."
Sesshomaru shook his head, then explained:
"That wretch Naraku has a carefully constructed barrier concealing his presence, along with Wooden Puppets and incarnations moving around outside, deliberately leaking his presence to mislead us. My earlier attempts to track him down never led me to his real hiding place. All I found were his puppets."
These details made Naraku's caution and cunning plain to see.
Dealing with a venomous snake lurking in the shadows was nothing much in itself.
But if that snake had immense potential and formidable strength, the problem became serious.
"Naraku really is good at hiding..."
Li Xia nodded. He certainly acknowledged that aspect of the lunatic:
"But Your Highness, have you forgotten where Naraku's horde of demons came from?"
What did he mean?
Beside them, Jaken blinked at those words.
Sesshomaru immediately understood what Li Xia meant:
"You mean... the direction?"
"Exactly!"
Li Xia grinned:
"Naraku's demon horde must have emerged from around Naraku's Castle. Once we've established that direction, we can search along that straight line. Our chances of rooting him out will be extremely high."
In other words, Naraku had not only handed them several thousand pieces of worthless cannon fodder for nothing this time, but seemingly exposed the general area of his hiding place as well.
Moreover, there was this to consider: his current location was five or six li from Kaede's Village, and he had initially flown toward the Western Lands. Yet Naraku's entire demon horde had come from the north, targeting him, the bearer of most of the Shikon Jewel, rather than the village.
What did that indicate?
Naraku's ability to pinpoint his location so precisely clearly revealed two things:
First, Naraku was tracking him remotely through means such as Kanna's Mirror.
