Power Progression
Mo Yan’s forms develop through separate DigiCores rather than a single fixed evolution line 2.
| Stage / Realm / Level | Chapter | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Kapurimon → KendoGarurumon — Rookie | 1 2 | Qinglongmon awakens and perfects Mo Yan’s innate ability, triggering his evolution into a sword-wielding form. |
| KendoGarurumon → Wizardmon — Champion | 5 | An earlier advancement in Witchelny, recounted after his arrival in the human world. SageMon guides the evolution, then recommends storing the wizard form in a separate DigiCore to preserve KendoGarurumon’s potential. |
| Light Angemon — Rookie, Vaccine, Angel-type | 2 3 | His first constructed Transfer Evolution form. SageMon helps him contact Angemon, whose assistance makes the form viable; Mo Yan assumes it during his battle with Allomon. |
| Light Angemon → Flame Angemon · Divine Attendant Form | 5 | Mo Yan incorporates his magic-bearing DigiCore into his angel body. Calumon’s forehead crystal also glows during the evolution. |
| Angel Core refinement; two incomplete Holy Rings | 9 10 | Uses sacred power and the children’s heartfelt bonds to refine his angel permissions. Gains qualifications to pursue high-ranking angel status, not that status itself. |
| Coredramon form | 11 | Uses Transfer Evolution from Wizardmon before challenging Growlmon in an isolated domain. |
| Coredramon → Wingdramon | 14 | Evolves after winning the dragon duel and absorbs fragments of Growlmon’s data. |
| Independent DigiCore manifestation | 17 | Awakening and studying draconic instincts allows him to release a DigiCore as a separate Digimon; he manifests Dracomon for training. |
| Knightmon — Champion, Vaccine, Warrior-type | 22 118 | A customized form incorporating modified Strikedramon data, used while preparing the Twin Towers experiment. A later flashback reveals that KendoGarurumon originally evolved into Knightmon during an arena battle against Jinlingmon. |
| Dark Angemon — Champion, Virus, Fallen Angel-type | 33 | Constructs a dark counterpart to his angel form using the Dark DigiCore, newly generated data, and a Dark Ring. |
| Holy-Demon Unity foundation | 34 | Establishes mutual conversion between his own light and dark data, allowing the two powers to pursue, transform, and sustain one another. |
| Wizardmon → Grand Mage Beast — Ultimate, Data, Magic Warrior-type | 39 | Wizard Mo Yan unifies the Crystal Ball and Flame Sword with his data, draws out Calumon’s Evolution Light, and absorbs the remaining Twin Towers vortex. This is his first DigiCore to reach Ultimate. |
| Physical manifestation of both angel forms | 47 | Flame Angemon becomes his third independently materialized form; Dark Angemon becomes his fourth. Their development initiates a reorganization involving all twelve DigiCores. |
| Twelve-DigiCore data reorganization completed | 47 48 | Reintegrates his data after absorbing ancient and mythological information. The main body emerges in Grand Mage Beast form; no additional named rank is announced. |
| Insect-and-plant Digi-Egg constructed | 56 | Rebuilds the designated core around BloomLordmon’s data, adds his own core data and life force, and designs theoretical forms from Rookie through Ultimate. The Two Worlds’ United Will selects a human partner for the egg. |
| Darkdramon development initiated | 61 79 | Loads Darkdramon’s core data into his machinery-and-technology DigiCore. Its core apparatus is assembled by Chapter 79, but construction and adjustment of the complete form remain ongoing. |
| Three basic otherworld-derived forms | 73 | Uses data obtained by SageMon from Caesar’s traversal ability to construct a golden chick associated with spacetime, a phantom-star form, and a winged but flightless bird associated with otherworldly power. These initially remain basic forms. |
| Ego DigiCore identified | 73 | Reveals a form representing his previous-life self, responsible for preserving his will and balancing the other DigiCores. |
| Flame Angemon and Dark Angemon data → Holy Angemon Priest Mode — Ultimate, Vaccine, Archangel-type | 73 108 | Merges Dark Angemon’s data into Flame Angemon’s, producing opposing rings of light and darkness and triggering evolution. His other manifested forms remain unchanged. |
| Holy Angemon’s mixed light–dark power | 74 | Priest Mode demonstrates a murky power that Mo Yan tentatively associates with chaos or holy–demonic power; its precise classification is not confirmed. |
| Cerberumon — Ultimate, Vaccine, Demon Beast-type | 75 76 | Manifests a dark form characterized as the watcher of the darkness within him, with Hellfire, a protective biological shell, and self-repair capabilities. |
| Knightmon Legendary Mode — Ultimate | 77 78 | Develops a vessel intended to produce qualitative change through accumulated power. Its sacred armor suppresses leakage, and it can contain up to six Ultimate DigiCores at this stage. |
| Five Ultimate DigiCores confirmed | 78 | Grand Mage Beast, Jewelbeemon, Holy Angemon Priest Mode, Cerberumon, and Knightmon Legendary Mode have reached Ultimate. Jewelbeemon’s DigiCore remains with its human partner and is temporarily unavailable for recall. |
| Grand Mage Beast + Knightmon Legendary Mode → Mage Knightmon — Ultimate, Data, Magic Knight-type | 84 85 | Fusion evolution combines magic and Chivalry, sacrificing portions of both component forms’ powers. Its combat strength exceeds that of an ordinary Ultimate, but it remains Ultimate. |
| Holy Angemon’s further transformation begins | 112 | Activates his Holy Rings and draws data from the Knowledge Treasury and connected Digital Worlds. The supplied account does not identify the completed form in this chapter. |
| Wingdramon integrates new data power | 126 127 | Constructing a new Digital World completes his integration of the data power encountered on Blue Star, changing Wingdramon’s appearance and granting additional abilities. |
| Void DestructionDramon; Void Advent | 140 | A Slayerdramon subspecies exchanges its anti-dragon advantage and trial-granted standing for effectiveness against large life-forms and Greeza’s void power. Void Advent produces a larger purple dragon wielding a luminous purple spear. |
| Sassumusmon; quasi-authority of Desire | 165 177 | An experimentally developed form based on the “Angel of Desire” grants the quasi-authority power of desire. |
| Self-and-balance equalization; temporary separation | 171 | Aligns eleven DigiCores at the same stage and temporarily detaches his consciousness using an illusory DigiCore. The procedure weakens several advanced forms and depends partly on DigiDeath’s isolating environment. |
| Incomplete unified Twelve-DigiCore form | 179 | Temporarily combines all twelve cores’ power into an unstable glowing humanoid, releasing his current maximum power without being able to define a stable appearance. |
| DigiSoul and D-Reaper data integration | 181 | His twelve manifested forms gain DigiSoul and undergo adjustments using DigiDeath D-Reaper’s residual data. Mo Yan also retains Authority Power data declined by Gallantmon. |
| Imperial Heaven War Dragonmon; four-core overclocking | 188 189 190 | Uses four DigiCores in a powerful combat form against the Royal Knights. Can separate a Metal Divine Dragon without devolving and transform into a giant dragon. |
| Refined DigiSoul manifestation | 202 | Releases a dragon-shaped DigiSoul against the combined dragon-shaped DigiSouls of the Royal Knights after Yggdrasill’s revised version of his program spreads through the Digital World. |
| Further core-development arrangements | 233 | Orders final installation and adjustment of Darkdramon, sends Knightmon Legendary Mode’s DigiCore to Cerberumon while considering its future evolution, and sends Void DestructionDramon to request continuation of the Four Great Dragons Trial. These are preparations, not newly confirmed evolutions. |
Background / History
Mo Yan retains memories of a previous human life, including watching the Digimon series. He becomes a Digimon himself, but the circumstances of his transmigration are not explained in the supplied account. His previous death and memories of helplessness remain emotionally significant, particularly when he works with darkness 5 6 34.
Megadramon brings him before Qinglongmon in the eastern sovereign’s domain. Fearing that a being without value might be discarded, Mo Yan accepts service under Qinglongmon. His superior promises rewards for completing his trial, including strengthening the power within his soul and potentially arranging the Trial of the Four Great Dragons once he is sufficiently strong 1.
Before entering the human world, Mo Yan studies in Witchelny under SageMon. His talent earns him recognition as a wizard prodigy, while his unconventional experiments make him a notorious troublemaker. He also receives instruction in the Realm of the Gods and obtains Angemon’s help in constructing his first angel form 2 10 31.
Later revelations establish that powerful Digimon began planning around Mo Yan when he reincarnated with information and power from another dimension. Qinglongmon’s reception of him and perfection of his innate gift formed part of their agreement, and the Digital World itself favored him. Mo Yan initially knows nothing of this broader arrangement 81.
A retrospective account also reveals an early loss of control in which negative emotions caused him to become Devimon and slaughter indiscriminately. Ophanimon restored his primary consciousness with God’s Mercy, and SageMon taught him to separate Devimon’s data into a DigiCore. Devimon is subsequently described as his first fully formed Digimon form; the incident attracted the Dark Area’s attention, and Mo Yan later directed much of the Demon Lords’ funding into the sealed Devimon core 193 223.
During an earlier arena visit, Mo Yan fought Jinlingmon as KendoGarurumon. Both evolved during the difficult battle, becoming Knightmon and Jinling Tongzishou respectively. Mo Yan won through endurance, but his opponent then decided that he was her destined partner. He escaped her pursuit with persuasion, Silvergamon’s help, and SageMon’s dimensional teleportation 118.
Appearance
Mo Yan has no single permanent appearance; his body changes with the DigiCore and form he uses 2 22 48.
- KendoGarurumon: Wears kendo attire and initially appears holding a bamboo sword 1.
- Light Angemon: Resembles a child with two wings, initially causing Renamon to question whether he is human 2 3.
- Refined angel form: Retains one pair of wings, which become larger and stronger and begin developing Holy Script. Golden Holy Rings appear around his wrists 10.
- Knightmon: Wears light knight armor and carries a greatsword; can ride a summoned giant wolf 22.
- Dark Angemon: Resembles his light angel counterpart. Its design draws on a fallen-angel image remembered from his previous life, rather than a conventional demonic shape. Wears dark holy vestments, bears a Ring of Despair above his head, and has black wings and a Dark Holy Scripture 33.
- Grand Mage Beast: Has a tall, straight figure that allows him to look down at Dark Witchmon 48.
- Human disguise: Uses Mimicry to make himself and Impmon appear as human children 14.
- Holy Angemon Priest Mode: Wears white robes embroidered with mysterious patterns and can appear at ordinary human height with his wings folded away 108 145.
- Humanlike appearance in his new Digital World: Stands 182 centimeters tall, with blue hair, blue eyes, and a sky-blue dragon scale on his forehead 127.
- Void Advent: Becomes a larger purple dragon carrying a long spear that shines with purple light 140.
- Incomplete unified form: Appears as a glowing humanoid because he cannot yet stabilize or precisely shape the combined power of the Twelve DigiCores 179.
- Imperial Heaven War Dragonmon: Can shed part of his armor by separating a Metal Divine Dragon, increasing his mobility at the expense of defense. His dragon transformation produces a giant, heavily scaled body 189 190.
Personality
Mo Yan combines curiosity and ambition with a strong instinct for self-preservation. His central goals are to evolve and see unfamiliar sights, and he willingly changes events rather than treating the original story as untouchable. He is deferential before Qinglongmon, but privately complains about inconvenient assignments and the behavior of other divine servants 1 2 15.
He is theatrical, provocative, and confident in his own potential. During his first encounters with the Tamers, he taunts them and delivers an exaggerated speech about Digimon life and battle. That confidence does not prevent him from changing tactics: after experiencing their card-supported attacks and recognizing Calumon’s influence, he becomes reluctant to fight them without an overwhelming advantage 4 5 38.
As a teacher, Mo Yan mixes encouragement with harsh shortcuts. He praises Impmon’s talent and comforts him about his former Tamers, but also uses dangerous control exercises and punitive training because he lacks SageMon’s patience. Despite the rough treatment, Impmon experiences their relationship as unusually respectful and comfortable 6 16 18 27.
His specialized manifestations can express sharper personalities than the main body. Wizard Mo Yan follows the principle of returning the treatment he receives and openly resents human surveillance. Mo Yan’s work with darkness also forces him to confront the bitterness and fear carried over from his previous life 34 41.
He values control over his own development and refuses to entrust his evolution to a human partner. Although he recognizes the advantages of human–Digimon cooperation, he prefers to obtain useful human powers indirectly. He also understands that human Spiritual Power can erode a Digimon’s original nature and incline it toward humanity 52 90 120.
His attachment to his former humanity does not translate into unconditional sympathy for humans. He describes himself as selfish and attached to bodily pleasures, and later finds it difficult to identify with humanity as his own kind. Nevertheless, he genuinely admires the kindness of proper Ultraman hosts, including Daichi Oozora, and honors his promise not to endanger Xiao Ai and A Zhen during his battle with DigiDeath 81 123 171 177.
Mo Yan’s relationship with his offshoots includes mutual pranks, arguments, and deliberate provocation. Their increasingly pronounced quirks reflect both uneven development and traits within his own consciousness. He eventually explains that he deliberately gave them troublesome personalities to prevent himself from becoming excessively cold and rational 118 165 187.
Abilities & Skills
Twelve DigiCores and Transfer Evolution
Mo Yan’s innate gift provides twelve DigiCores capable of recording data and following their own exclusive evolutions. Qinglongmon unlocks and perfects this ability rather than originating it 2 10.
- Form construction: Collects, edits, and combines the necessary data before assuming another Digimon form 2.
- Data distribution: Sorts absorbed information among compatible cores; Allomon’s data primarily benefits his dragon and Data-type cores 2.
- Parallel development: Separately manifests Digimon forms and connects their consciousnesses through a shared network 17 36.
- Custom evolution requirements: Must forge and integrate suitable equipment himself; his specialized forms do not automatically gain weapons upon evolution 39.
- Drawbacks: The breadth of his research can slow advancement, while the different cores’ instincts and personalities threaten his psychological unity 18 36 41.
- Ego and balance: His previous-life form represents the Ego DigiCore, preserving his will and balancing the other cores. Its power of self and balance can forcibly align their developmental stages 73 171.
- Data-level restoration: The Twelve DigiCores provide powerful self-repair, including repair of core-data damage. Conflicting data can also be transferred to another core, reducing the risks of experimental evolution and devolution 74.
- Storage limits: Advanced cores leak power even while suppressing themselves. At the stage described in Chapter 78, Knightmon Legendary Mode has his highest carrying capacity but can contain only six Ultimate DigiCores simultaneously 78.
- Temporary independence: Can detach his consciousness into an illusory DigiCore under special conditions, but cannot yet exist permanently independently of the Twelve DigiCores. The demonstrated procedure weakens advanced offshoots and benefits from isolation within DigiDeath 171.
- Multi-core processing: Four-core operation increases both stamina and computational capacity, allowing precise simultaneous control of numerous fragments and data processes 189 190.
- Incomplete unification: Can temporarily unify all twelve cores’ power, but the resulting form is initially unstable and lacks a defined appearance 179.
Magic and Data Manipulation
Mo Yan treats magic as an advanced programming language for manipulating data. His studies encompass four elemental schools and precise control over magical power 14 20 39.
- Shapes flames into writing, landscapes, buildings, and a lifelike bird 15.
- Demonstrates dispersal and compression of magic, including condensing flame into a tiny crystal-like form 18.
- Creates training domains such as the Wild Jungle and monitors their occupants 11 18.
- Uses Nature Magic: Balanced Environment to grow data plants inside Witchmon’s Darkness Domain 29.
- Reads human machinery through its data and prevents surveillance equipment from recording him 22.
- Magic has difficulty affecting Digimon whose data is highly stable 14.
- Human data-destruction systems cannot directly unravel his controlled data, though their attacks can still exert physical force 20.
- His ability to rewrite his own data does not automatically extend to rewriting another Digimon’s core data. His earlier suppression of Impmon’s evolution works by absorbing the expanding data into his own DigiCore, not by directly editing Impmon 80.
Holy Magic and Angel Permissions
His angel abilities combine instruction from Angemon, the Holy Scripture, and spiritual power drawn from others’ sincere goodness and hope 3 9.
- Heaven’s Knuckle: Finishes Allomon with a weakened strike and defeats Renamon with another 2 3.
- Holy Barrier: Blocks Renamon’s enhanced Fox Leaf Arrowhead and the Tamers’ combined attacks 3 5.
- Wing Storm: Uses feather-based offense and weakens incoming attacks, though the Tamers’ coordinated barrage still injures him 4.
- Healing: Stabilizes Impmon’s data and supports recovery from hazardous training. After developing his Holy Rings, Mo Yan considers ordinary data collapse treatable so long as Impmon’s DigiCore survives 15 23.
- Advancement limit: His original Holy Rings are largely symbolic; meaningful sacred passages must be inscribed before they provide their intended power 10.
- Priest Mode techniques: Possesses Heaven’s Gate and uses Soul Banishment, a purple laser, against Cerberumon 76 108.
- Selective holy lightning: Spares Takato and his companions while channeling power into his Holy Rings during a later transformation 112.
- Birth acceleration: Uses holy energy to accelerate the birth of Wind Lionmon from Minami Uehara’s laptop 145.
Elemental Fusion and Ten Directions Annihilation
Mo Yan combines different attributes through carefully controlled cycles, breaking down incompatible data while retaining usable information 20 30 31.
- Four-element fusion: Uses earth as a foundation and wind as a linking medium to combine earth, water, fire, and wind into the Crystal Ball 20.
- Ten Directions Annihilation: Employs ten orbiting DigiCores to generate a millstone-like power that dismantles, absorbs, and purifies opposing attacks 30.
- Experimental use: Combines Mythical Source Code, Ancient Data, and present-day data to produce information containing opposing yet harmonious qualities 31.
- Early potential: Initially sees the possibility of a new Authority Power suited to himself, without yet establishing that he has attained it in this experiment 31.
- Later authority research: Develops Sassumusmon’s quasi-authority of Desire, studies DigiDeath D-Reaper’s Digital Authority, and eventually retains Authority Power data that Gallantmon declines 152 177 181.
Holy-Demon Unity
Mo Yan develops a shared cycle between his light and dark forms instead of allowing either affinity to dominate 34.
- Converts light into darkness through negative emotional data 34.
- Converts darkness into light by introducing corresponding qualities such as hope, radiance, and new life 34.
- Uses Demon Lord-type data to strengthen Dark Angemon enough to approach balance with his orthodox angel power 34.
- The demonstrated conversion applies specifically to his own forms, whose common origin makes the process easier 34.
- Later merges Dark Angemon’s data into Flame Angemon’s to produce Holy Angemon Priest Mode, whose rings bear opposing light and darkness 73.
- Priest Mode demonstrates a mixed power that Mo Yan questions as possible chaos or holy–demonic power. This is an observed development, not a confirmed final attainment of his intended ultimate unity 74.
Spatial, Temporal, and Mental Magic
- Dimensional space: Stores supplies and conceals the Crystal Ball above the Twin Towers’ generation pool 8 22.
- Teleportation: Moves Calumon into and out of the data vortex and travels with Dark Witchmon 39 48.
- Spell interception: Secretly controls Impmon’s attempted teleportation destination, then links their spatial spells 41.
- Time-stopping spell: Uses the Four Elements Crystal Ball to freeze most of Sandiramon’s battlefield for a private conversation; the effect eventually wears off 49.
- Space Return: Analyzes and reverses the altered space surrounding himself and Witchmon, restoring the park 48.
- Mind magic and telepathy: Prompts Rika to reveal buried vulnerability and privately reassures Renamon about his intentions 8.
- Restraint and sleep: Immobilizes Impmon and puts both Impmon and Guilmon to sleep 6 10.
- Shared senses: Links to Coredramon’s senses to observe the ground through the dragon’s eyes 118.
- Otherworld travel: Conducts an experiment that takes him to Blue Star, later returning through the Spacetime Interlayer and a vortex opened after he calls Chicchimon 124 140.
- Digital Space-descend: Encloses himself and DigiDeath D-Reaper within a prepared Digital Space while excluding the Tamers and their allies 176.
- Mass memory extraction: Uses electromagnetic signals to extract most humans’ memories of Digimon and transmits the resulting data to the Digital World 185.
Swordsmanship and Grand Mage Beast Techniques
Mo Yan practices both martial and magical combat, ultimately combining them in his Ultimate wizard form 2 39.
- Thunder Slash: Uses a lightning sword attack against Allomon 2.
- Flame Strike Mask: Projects a flaming sword wave that damages Allomon’s tail data even when intercepted 2.
- Thunderflame-Burst Rush: Combines fire and electricity; the lightning disrupts Allomon’s stronger flames and allows Mo Yan’s attack to prevail 2.
- Knightmon techniques: Possesses Coordinated Attack, which summons a beast companion, and Gale Dance, a greatsword flurry 22.
- Storm Flame: Wreathes Grand Mage Beast’s blade in fire for a stronger slash 39.
- Core Dart: Freely controls crystals for attack and defense 39.
- Thunder magic: Creates a rain-and-lightning sensory domain with Thunderstorm and Thunder Domain; also uses Thunderclap Shield, Sky Thunder Escape, Divine Thunder from the Heavens, and Five Thunders Strike the Crown 83.
- Additional elemental attacks: Uses Earth Magic: Bury on the Spot, Solar Magic: Solar Flare Bombardment, Crystal Ball-centered air cannon attacks, Diamond Forest, and nine summoned earth dragons 83 84 85.
- Mage Knightmon techniques: Wields Black Paladin for Wizard Shadowless Slash, Mage Wave Slash, and Super Wizard Wave Slash 84 85.
Digimon Creation and Technology
- Living core construction: Creates an insect-and-plant Digi-Egg using BloomLordmon’s data, his own core data, and his life force, while planning its prospective evolutionary forms 56.
- D-Ark engineering: Receives full D-Ark specifications from the Two Worlds’ United Will, enabling him to modify and recreate the device without relying on a Digital Spirit 56.
- Mechanical specialization: Studies machinery, programming, alloys, and conflicts between mechanical systems and biological instincts to construct and modify Darkdramon 61.
- Digivices and crests: Redesigns Directional Receivers into watch-like Holy Terminals, crests, and pendant-like Crystal Reading Devices for eight children. He subsequently condenses the eight great Crest Crystals 99 102.
- Monster digitization: Uses the authority of his new Digital World to transform a Zetton Spark Doll into Zetton Girl 134.
- Vaccine development: Detects the dark Digimon virus in Electronic Pet-Pet and helps Uehara Taketo create a Vaccine Program 145.
Digital World Construction and Administration
Mo Yan constructs a new Digital World by integrating a Data Tree, Data Earth, and Data Sky. These jointly form a spatial barrier while cables draw energy from an unknown surrounding space and data from Blue Star’s networks 126.
- The newborn world is initially only the size of an island nation because of his limited power. Wingdramon remains at its Host Computer to adjust its parameters and balances 127.
- This practical experience gives him further ideas for evolving the Four Elements Crystal Ball into a Digital World 127.
- Yggdrasill offers to improve his conversion of spacetime disturbances into data and teach him to produce spacetime ripples in other worlds 130.
- After the D-Reaper crisis, he reprograms hexagonal lenses into an invisible membrane concealed by the ionosphere. It converts redundant Human World data and distributes forty percent to the Digital World, forty percent to the Four Holy Beasts and their subordinates, and twenty percent of refined data to Mo Yan 185.
- His worldwide locating ability during the cleanup depends on temporary Authority that he subsequently loses 185.
DigiSoul and Program-State Combat
Mo Yan creates DigiSoul by combining Digimon power with the Light Power, or Ultra Power, obtained in another world. He describes it as a means of turning human bodies and emotions into usable power and giving Digimon an equivalent of their own hearts or souls, allowing them to grow through their own inner power 179.
- His Twelve DigiCores gain DigiSoul while integrating DigiDeath D-Reaper’s residual data 181.
- Yggdrasill revises his DigiSoul program and distributes it through the Digital World using Omnimon X’s update 202.
- Mo Yan can project refined DigiSoul as a giant dragon-shaped manifestation 202.
- Outside the Digital World’s normal restrictions, he and DigiDeath can fight as data programs through replacement, blocking, assimilation, and deletion of code. Their unleashed power can potentially replace real-world environments with data, prompting Mo Yan to contain the battle within a prepared Digital Space 177.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Holy Scripture — Spellbook crafted in Witchelny and enhanced by Angemon in the City of Angels. Stores learned magic and Mo Yan’s surviving memories of six Digimon series 3 6.
- Holy Rings — Two wrist-mounted symbols of angel qualifications. Initially contain only indistinct individual Holy Script characters and require further composition. Later developments include Priest Mode’s opposing light–dark inscriptions and activation during a transformation drawing data from connected worlds 10 73 112.
- Dark Ring — Dark-gold counterpart to the Holy Ring, shimmering with black light and integrated into Dark Angemon’s construction 33.
- Dark Holy Scripture — Dark Angemon’s scripture, used to recite Dark Chapter and plunge enemies into darkness 33.
- Four Elements Crystal Ball — Created by exhausting his accumulated data in elemental fusion. Serves as a magical power source, protective focus, physical striking weapon, and component of Grand Mage Beast’s evolution. It can exist independently rather than disappearing with evolution, and Mo Yan explores developing it into a Digital World 20 35 39 49 127.
- Flame Sword — Forged from chrono digi-alloy using elemental design, alchemy, and Great Growlmon’s Atomic Blaster. Linked with the Crystal Ball and Wizard DigiCore for Ultimate evolution 35 38 39.
- Angel Proof and Qinglongmon’s apostle mark — Credentials that establish his divine affiliations when confronting Megidramon and refusing the Gluttony Demon Lord 14 25.
- Digimon Encyclopedia — Compiled reference used to examine Great Growlmon’s attack properties 38.
- Knowledge Treasury — Personal database shared with his student Wizardmon, with access granted on the condition that the student contribute knowledge of his own. Later supplies data for Holy Angemon’s transformation alongside connected Digital Worlds 45 46 112.
- Hypergravity Chamber — Iron Empire training facility whose use is transferred to Mo Yan by Gearsmon 72.
- Sacred armor — Knightmon Legendary Mode’s armor includes a power-suppression function used to contain leakage from advanced DigiCores 78.
- Darkdramon core apparatus — Initially appears as a constantly shifting cube resembling the AllSpark from his previous-life entertainment. Its final installation and adjustments are later entrusted to Datamon 79 233.
- Black Paladin — Mage Knightmon’s magical weapon, used for instantaneous sword attacks and concentrated finishing techniques 84 85.
- Holy Terminals, crests, and Crystal Reading Devices — Devices fashioned from Directional Receivers for the eight chosen children 99 102.
- Data Tree and Host Computer — Central structures of his new Digital World, subsequently transformed by Yggdrasill into her avatar 127 130.
- Authority Key — Offered to Yggdrasill, who states that she does not need it 130.
Relationships
- Qinglongmon — Direct superior and divine patron. Assigns Mo Yan to temper the chosen children, rewards his service, and warns that specializing twelve DigiCores may impede his progress. Later supports plans involving the children’s evolution and remains the authority Mo Yan approaches to continue the Four Great Dragons Trial 1 4 36 99 233.
- SageMon — Mentor who guides his wizard evolution, advises his angel development, and gathers ancient and mythological data for him. Their teacher–student bond is described as comparable to a human father–son relationship. Their closeness permits constant teasing and arguments; SageMon also defeats him in a serious sparring match that leaves cracks in the Book of the Void 5 10 29 81 85.
- Angemon — Helps create Light Angemon, teaches Holy Barrier, enhances the Holy Scripture, and supplies the chrono digi-alloy formula 2 3 35.
- Impmon / Wizardmon / Baalmon — Student trained in magic, data control, and emotional self-confrontation. Mo Yan later grants him database access and encourages him to become an independent fellow traveler. Story Role / Major Arcs
Arrival and Trials for the Tamers
Mo Yan reaches the human world through a spatial vortex opened during his battle with Allomon. He immediately tests Rika and Renamon, then fights the combined Tamer group. He ends the confrontation by recognizing their teamwork and concern for their partners, fulfilling his role as an examiner rather than an executioner 2 3 4 5.
He subsequently explains Digimon, the damaged barrier between worlds, and the significance of being chosen. Some explanations draw on his memories of the series rather than information actually provided by Qinglongmon, despite his attribution to his superior 7 8.
Impmon’s Training
Mo Yan takes Impmon as a student and argues for training-based evolution instead of slaughter. Lessons progress from basic data awareness to magical dispersal, compression, and physical conditioning, while his angel manifestation helps Impmon confront painful memories 6 15 18 21.
Impmon eventually accepts the Dark Impmon born from his past and evolves into Wizardmon. Wizard Mo Yan then shifts from direct supervision to independent study, leaving his student to train and search for Xiao Ai and A Zhen 43 46.
Twin Towers and Ultimate Evolution
Mo Yan discovers that Yamaki’s extermination plan will further damage the interworld barrier and stimulate DigiDeath’s revival. Rather than merely observing it, he prepares to exploit its data output for his own evolution 22.
Wizard Mo Yan forges the Flame Sword within the resulting vortex, then becomes Grand Mage Beast. His subsequent confrontation with the children reveals that he also suppressed card effects and Digimon evolution because he resented human observation 35 38 39 41.
During these events, TigerVespamon orders him to return to the Qinglong Sanctuary for a new mission when the children travel to the Digital World 38.
Light–Dark Research and the Deva
Alongside the Twin Towers operation, Mo Yan uses SageMon’s gifted data to develop Dark Angemon and establish the beginnings of Holy-Demon Unity. The Wizard DigiCore’s Ultimate evolution then catalyzes the physical manifestation of both angels and a broader reorganization of all twelve cores 29 33 34 47.
After emerging, Mo Yan investigates Sandiramon’s arrival with Dark Witchmon. Their private conversation focuses on divine service, the difficulty of independent evolution, and Sandiramon’s dissatisfaction with his assigned role 48 49.
He subsequently responds to pressure from the Two Worlds’ United Will by constructing a white Digi-Egg with green markings around BloomLordmon’s data and his own life force. The will accepts it, selects its prospective partner, and grants him the information needed to reproduce a D-Ark 52 56.
Iron Empire Research and Ultimate Forms
Mo Yan chooses Darkdramon’s data for his machinery-and-technology core rather than accepting a Machinedramon-based form whose authorization would leave it subordinate to Machinedramon. He agrees to protect Datamon’s factory until it can produce guards, places his core in its control room as a template and processing center, and begins learning the technical disciplines needed to build the form himself 61.
In the Iron Empire’s Hypergravity Chamber, he reveals his core forms and fuses his light and dark angel data into Holy Angemon Priest Mode. Initially dissatisfied with following an existing angel form, he considers repeated devolution and re-evolution, but Priest Mode’s unexpected mixed power interrupts this plan. Cerberumon and Knightmon Legendary Mode also emerge during this period, bringing his confirmed Ultimate DigiCores to five 72 73 74 75 77 78.
After returning to the Digital World, Mo Yan spars with SageMon. He uses extensive lightning and elemental magic, then reveals Mage Knightmon, the fusion of Grand Mage Beast and Knightmon Legendary Mode. SageMon ultimately overwhelms him, though the battle leaves cracks in the Book of the Void. The two then travel to the Four Holy Beasts’ domain and head for the gathering in the Forest of Life 79 83 84 85 89.
The Eight Traits and Holy Angemon’s Transformation
At the Holy Digimon’s gathering, Mo Yan proposes using eight broadly applicable character traits rather than relying solely on the original Eight Virtues. His explanation links courage, friendship, honesty, love, knowledge, innocence, hope, and light into a mutually reinforcing progression of human growth 90 91.
After Lucemon approves the plan, Mo Yan redesigns the Directional Receivers into the children’s devices and asks the assembled Digimon to recommend partners. He subsequently completes the eight great Crest Crystals 99 102.
Meanwhile, Holy Angemon Priest Mode follows the children and studies their Spiritual Power. His later activation of the Holy Rings draws enormous amounts of data from Mo Yan’s Knowledge Treasury and connected Digital Worlds, attracting major factions’ attention while Mo Yan and Holy Angemon remain unaware of the wider upheaval 99 112.
A later explanation reveals that Homeostasis added Mo Yan’s Crest of Gentleness to the plan. Its human Spiritual Power eroded BloomLordmon’s DigiCore, leading her to take the core temporarily for purification and stabilization 215.
Otherworld Exploration and a New Digital World
Following preparations involving SageMon and Caesar’s traversal-derived data, Mo Yan reaches Blue Star in another world. He studies the planet’s information network, communicates with Daichi Oozora and X, and explains that he is a data life-form conducting an otherworld-travel experiment while investigating the planet’s digital power 120 123 124.
He constructs a new Digital World from a Data Tree, Data Earth, and Data Sky, drawing on local network information and energy from an unknown surrounding space. Wingdramon oversees its Host Computer and integrates the new data power. Yggdrasill then manifests through the system, transforms the Data Tree into her avatar, and offers improvements to his spacetime-data collection 126 127 130.
Mo Yan begins cooperation with Hikari and intervenes at Xio Headquarters during Greeza’s attack, taking a Zetton Spark Doll and transforming it into Zetton Girl. His later Void DestructionDramon form incorporates Greeza’s void power; before returning, he also demonstrates its second-stage transformation, Void Advent 134 140.
Mephistomon and the Vaccine Program
Appearing as Holy Angemon Priest Mode, Mo Yan briefly visits a human church and provokes its priest by declaring himself an angel. He then identifies Mephistomon’s virus within Electronic Pet-Pet, helps Uehara Taketo develop a Vaccine Program, and arranges Minami Uehara’s escape with it 144 145.
Although disappointed by Mephistomon’s crude approach to villainy, he follows the ensuing events and accelerates Wind Lionmon’s birth to protect Minami. Wind Lionmon and Guilmon defeat attacking Digimon, but MantaRaymon ultimately abducts Minami and her laptop 145.
DigiDeath D-Reaper Research and Battle
Mo Yan and Grand Mage Beast isolate a D-Reaper sub-entity inside a temporary Digital World, sever its connection to the main program, and study its reconstruction and Digital Authority. Mo Yan’s addition of mutated Desire Power causes uncontrolled growth, leaving Grand Mage Beast to abandon the experiment and tell him to handle the consequences 152.
As the mutation escalates, Mo Yan insists that it falls within his contingencies and counts on human programmers and the DigiDestined to help realize his plan. He equalizes eleven cores through self and balance, then temporarily detaches his consciousness in preparation for the decisive battle 165 171.
After helping Wormmon become a Digi-Egg for Alice, he confronts DigiDeath D-Reaper and encloses their battle in Digital Space. Their confrontation includes data-program warfare with the potential to overwrite the surrounding real world; Mo Yan contains it in part to honor his promise to Baalmon that Xiao Ai and A Zhen will remain safe 176 177.
He demonstrates an incomplete unified Twelve-DigiCore form and explains DigiSoul to the Royal Knight Gallantmon. After the battle, his cores gain DigiSoul and are adjusted with D-Reaper’s residual data. Gallantmon declines the Authority Power data, leaving it with Mo Yan. His unstable independent body begins dissipating as he exits, forcing him to assume Grand Mage Beast through that core 179 181.
Human World Cleanup and Royal Knight Training
After the partner Digimon return to the Digital World, Mo Yan extracts most humans’ memories of Digimon and transfers the resulting information to the Digital World. He then converts the barrier infrastructure into a hidden data-harvesting membrane, reserving a share of its refined output for himself before returning to Digital Space with plans to incorporate it into the Crystal Ball 185.
Leaving Grand Mage Beast, Martial Heaven Beast, and Twin Stars to work in Digital Space, Mo Yan proceeds into the Digital Void. The offshoots arrange substitutes and leave to pursue their own activities, trusting that the work will continue 187.
Mo Yan subsequently tests his four-core Imperial Heaven War Dragonmon against the Royal Knights, fighting Monzaemon and Examon while discovering additional benefits of multi-core processing. During later combat, Omnimon X applies Yggdrasill’s update, removing X Antibody data and spreading the revised DigiSoul program. Mo Yan recognizes his creation and clashes with the Royal Knights using dragon-shaped DigiSoul 188 189 190 202.
Continuing Core Development
While watching Gallantmon X and Omegamon X fight, Mo Yan arranges the next steps for several specialized cores. He asks Datamon to complete Darkdramon’s core installation and final adjustments, sends Knightmon Legendary Mode’s core to Cerberumon while considering its next evolution, and directs Void DestructionDramon to Qinglongmon to apply for continuation of the Four Great Dragons Trial 233.
