"The Nostradamus Prophecy..."
Makima suddenly said those words, seemingly out of nowhere.
But Asaba Kotone actually understood what she meant. After all, he knew the original story very well.
He was also a little surprised. He had not quite expected Makima to know about it too.
The so-called Nostradamus Prophecy...
"In July 1999, the King of Terror will descend from the sky... These words were recorded in Nostradamus's collected prophecies, foretelling humanity's extinction."
Makima began explaining in detail. "When that time comes, the worst terror will descend upon the Human World. With that, the age of humanity will come to an end, replaced by the age of devils."
The so-called Nostradamus Prophecy was exactly what Makima had described.
Makima's tone was utterly calm and emotionless, not at all as though she were discussing a catastrophe involving humanity's extinction.
But that was perfectly normal. After all, Makima herself was a devil, not a human.
By then, Asaba Kotone roughly understood Makima's intentions.
At the same time, he felt a little relieved. This meant Makima was not harboring any crooked ideas.
"So... you want me to use Pochita's ability to avert that coming catastrophe?"
Asaba Kotone asked.
"Yes and no. Your power alone probably won't be enough to stop the prophecy from coming true, Kotone, so we'll need to think of something else too."
Even now, Makima remained so close to Asaba Kotone that their faces nearly touched. Each could feel the other's breath from their nose and as they spoke.
It made Asaba Kotone feel a little uncomfortable, and he could not help drawing his neck back a little farther.
But Makima immediately shifted her position. Rather than continuing to speak with her face close to his, she sat sideways on Asaba Kotone's thighs with her legs crossed-or, in plainer terms,
