Background / History

Departure from Earth

Ye Fan disappeared from Mount Tai with his classmates and traveled aboard Nine Dragons Pulling a Coffin. Their journey passed through Mars, where roughly half their classmates died, before bringing the survivors to the Desolate Ancient Forbidden Land on the Big Dipper. The deaths on Mars remained vivid to Ye Fan and Pang Bo long afterward 11 71 357.

He initially believed Jiang Zhu had died on Mars. When Jiang Zhu approached him outside the Wei Capital, Ye Fan suspected an unknown creature was impersonating his deceased classmate and attacked. Even hearing his university nickname did not immediately reassure him, since cultivators could inspect memories 40.

Cultivation and Pursuit in the Southern Region

Returning to Earth and seeing his parents drove Ye Fan’s early cultivation. Jiang Zhu’s report that they were safe left him trembling with relief. After learning several possible routes home, Ye Fan gave Jiang Zhu the original manuscript of the Dao Scripture’s Sea of Bitterness Chapter in repayment for his help 41.

His attempts to cultivate peacefully repeatedly collapsed. Following Duan De led to his capture, and the Black Emperor traded information to recover him. Later, the Bronze Immortal Palace drew him underground; after escaping, he faced further threats at the Taixuan Sect and pursuit by the Ji Family. He eventually burned Ji Family pursuers with Five Elements True Fire stored in his cauldron 70.

Ye Fan planned to lure his enemies into the Demon Clan Tomb, only to learn that Jiang Zhu had already eliminated its dangers. He instead joined Jiang Zhu and the Black Emperor on a northern journey seeking an Immortal Divine Medicine 70.

Sacred Body Inheritance and the Four Extremes Curse

At the Azure Flood Dragon King’s treasury, Ye Fan’s three-leaf Green Lotus resonated with an ancient Sacred Body’s remains. By sending the lotus into the corpse, he restored activity to its Sea of Bitterness, animated it, and obtained the Single Secret Realm Cultivation Method 91.

He later attempted his Four Extremes breakthrough inside the Desolate Ancient Forbidden Land. Divine fire and source energy rebuilt his body; once he left the forbidden land, Heavenly Tribulation descended. He refined the lightning and healed himself through successive ordeals, but an Innate Dao Diagram then appeared as the Sacred Body’s curse. Later reports confirmed that he had overcome the curse, becoming the first Sacred Body since the Desolate Ancient Era known to have done so 103 105.

At the Yaochi Grand Gathering, Xia Jiuyou demanded his lifelong service and sacred blood for medicine refinement. Ye Fan accepted her same-level challenge and confronted her Nine Nether Immortal Melody with his manifestation, Six Paths of Reincarnation Fist, and Nine Secrets: Jie 121 122.

Finding the Road Home

Jiang Zhu eventually revealed Earth’s coordinates on a Starfield Map recovered through the Feathered Divine Dynasty ruins. Ye Fan and Pang Bo began gathering resources and notifying their surviving classmates. Because Mount Tai’s altar had been destroyed, their planned route would reach Mars rather than Earth directly 139.

Liu Yiyi and Zhang Wenchang were the only remaining classmates on good terms with Ye Fan who wholeheartedly wished to return. Preparations also accounted for Earth’s depleted spiritual vitality, which would make continued cultivation difficult without stockpiled source and medicines 139 142.

Ye Fan subsequently referred to things he had witnessed at Earth’s Immortal Ascension Ground. Those experiences unsettled his conviction that death was final and reincarnation impossible 184.

Ancient Roads and the Eternal Star Domain

At Qinling’s Heavenly Moat Crossing, Ye Fan spent half a month charting possible routes. After entering the immortal land, he countered Zi Tiandu’s attack with the Six Paths of Reincarnation Fist, surprising the assembled Primordial Race heirs by resisting an opponent of a higher cultivation layer 185 186 187.

He later accompanied the Ji Family’s expedition to the Void Emperor’s coffin and traveled onward to the Eternal Star Domain. There, he fought raider fleets in mechas and armor, combining technological equipment with his Sacred Body and fist techniques 208 215 229.

After the group refined sixth-stage Supreme Evolution Liquid, Ye Fan and his companions parted from Jiang Zhu. He continued along the Starry Sky Ancient Road, stabilizing his cultivation and consolidating his foundation for Sainthood before reaching its Tenth Pass 238 259.

Family, Forbidden Zones, and Emperor Tribulation

Before the Road to Immortality opened, Ye Fan and his companions pledged to face the Forbidden Zone Supremes. During this period, he and Ji Ziyue publicly announced their intention to become Dao companions 355 362.

Ye Fan later joined Jiang Zhu and Gai Jiuyou in destroying the forbidden zones. He personally slew the Divine Ruins Supreme, suffering severe injuries but preserving his vital origin 402.

Five hundred years later, he attempted Great Emperor attainment at the Cosmic Frontier. His bloodied return and seemingly fatal Dao injuries alarmed his friends, but his sudden recovery exposed a joint trap with Jiang Zhu. While Jiang Zhu confronted the Undying Heavenly Emperor, Ye Fan killed or captured the latter’s subordinates 406 407.

Successive Lives and War Against Darkness

Jiang Zhu’s explanation of the Red Dust Immortal path profoundly influenced Ye Fan. After his 26,000-year first life, he used an Immortal Medicine to begin a second, then pursued further transformations through his own cultivation and borrowed insights 408 410 411.

During later lives, he developed the Chaos Great Dao and trained Ye Xian. He also released his younger son, Ye Yishui—an Innate Sacred Body Dao Embryo—from Divine Source 415 417.

In the Immortal Domain, Ye Fan helped combine nearby fragments into a territory more than ten times larger than before. He studied dark-matter purification under Jiang Zhu and later endured centuries of pursuit in the Boundary Sea without losing his fighting spirit 431 448.

After becoming an Immortal King, he fought Dark Immortal Kings and defeated a darkness-eroded veteran who had followed the Desolate Heavenly Emperor. In the later war against the Strange Clan, he wielded the Stone Zither on the Quasi-Immortal Emperor battlefield and had already blasted apart three Dao Ancestors before launching a countercharge 455 458 459 515.

Appearance

  • Early appearance: Looked approximately fourteen or fifteen when reunited with Jiang Zhu, wearing an azure Daoist robe. He had red lips, white teeth, a youthful face, and a fierce edge to his brows 40.
  • Sacred Body traits: His blood energy shines gold and can erupt around him like a blazing domain 40 186.
  • Later bearing: Wore white and carried himself with increasing composure during reunions with his old friends 395.

  • Resemblance: Emperor Bone Bro stated that Ye Fan resembled the Desolate Heavenly Emperor in appearance, though not in bearing 505.

Personality

Ye Fan’s ambition is rooted in attachment rather than fame alone. His desire to see his parents sustained his early cultivation, and he later declared that he sought the Great Dao to protect what mattered to him and witness its summit. Even at the Immortal Gate, his ties to people in the mortal world complicated his wish to enter 41 397 404.

He combines confidence with practical caution. He refused to accept the Sacred Body’s supposed cultivation ceiling, calmly faced stronger opponents, and insisted that his own Dao was invincible. Yet he also restrained Pang Bo from charging into a battle against ancient Supremes that they could not survive 91 186 380 466.

His close friendships retain a mischievous, irreverent tone despite enormous differences in cultivation. He teased Jiang Zhu and Yan Ruyu’s understated reunion, won source from Pang Bo over a wager about it, and resisted allowing Jiang Zhu’s Heavenly Emperor status to create distance between them 294 395.
