Edwina's Plan
Lorry clasped his hands together, awaiting the captain's answer.
"Vice Admiral Iceberg" Edwina didn't answer but instead asked, "You just mentioned the word 'digestion,' have you mastered the Acting Method?"
The Acting Method was no secret within the Church of the Seven Deities and Concealment forces, Lorry didn't feel the need to hide it, frankly stating:
"Yes."
Edwina continued to ask questions:
"You demonstrated your ability to change your appearance when you came in. I need to know if it's temporary or if it can last for a considerable period of time."
Lorry's heart skipped a beat:
"It all depends on my will."
Upon hearing this, Edwina pursed her lips slightly.
"My Third Mate had been hoping for a longer vacation, but given his special circumstances, his application was not approved by me."
Therefore, my solution is...
"You will stay on the ship in his place until he returns from his leave."
She observed Lorry's expression and continued:
"As a newly joined member, you will basically have no say and can only follow your superiors, which will not be of much help in digesting the Potion."
"To make a living on the high seas, both strength and experience are indispensable."
"On the Golden Dream, there were only two people who could truly be called experts in the Mysticism, and the other one was Jodson."
"He has enough status, qualifications, and strength to be the only person besides me who has the ability to lead the crew to search for the treasure on his own."
"In this regard, both the First Mate and the second mate respected his opinion quite a bit."
"But--"
Hearing the captain's change of tone, Lorry chuckled and retorted, "Your Third Mate mate is Sequence 6 ' Fire Thief,' while I'm just a ' Mystery Pryer '?"
"Yes," Edwina replied succinctly.
This is indeed a problem, but it doesn't change the fact that the Captain's plan is better than mine... Honestly, if Little "Sun" is powerful enough to return the Beyonder Characteristic it owes me as soon as possible, I'd like to take another dose of "The Swindler" Potion... Lorry thought to himself silently.
Seeing that he didn't speak, the "Vice Admiral Iceberg" spoke expressionlessly:
"If you can't solve this problem, I can request an item with similar abilities from the church, but the process will take some time."
Do you want to wait a while, or stick to your plan?
Applying for the "Fire Thief" Sealed Artifact? Lorry was slightly taken aback, and sighed deeply.
The Old Gentleman has quite a bit of influence... I recall in the Original Novel, when Klein asked "Vice Admiral Iceberg," the reply was that he didn't have it...
Well, actually, her answer doesn't seem wrong. The item belongs to the Church of the God of Knowledge and Wisdom, and there's a big difference between borrowing and selling it...
His thoughts raced, and he smiled and shook his head.
No, there's no need to wait.
"I have a way to get similar items."
The channel that Lorry mentioned actually refers to the Future "The Star" Leonard, or rather, the "Marauder" old man who is Parasitism on him.
In the Original Novel, Klein's "Fire Seed" glove was purchased from Leonard.
"Vice Admiral Iceberg" gave him a deep look, his face still expressionless, and said calmly, "Tell me when you're ready."
"Thank you," Lorry said sincerely.
Edwina nodded slightly, without saying a word.
At this moment, Lorry suddenly remembered a passage from the Original Novel, in which the captain mentioned to Gehrman that she could simulate the abilities of a "Artisan".
A thought struck him, and he took out the "Calm Mask" from his pocket and asked:
"Madam, if I wish to alter the appearance of this Sealed Artifact to make it more delicate and discreet, is there any way?"
Edwina paused for two seconds, then said calmly:
"Simply changing the appearance is very simple; I can do it."
Lorry was secretly pleased upon hearing this. He handed her the "Calm Mask" and asked sincerely, "Considering the help you provided before, how much compensation do you need?"
"No need." Edwina shook her head slightly, took the "Calm Mask," looked it up and down, held it in her hand, and closed her eyes.
Sizzle!
Within the hazy white Light Clump, Lorry saw the "Calm Mask" rapidly melting, quickly condensing into a golden liquid ball the size of half an infant's fist.
Edwina opened her eyes and looked over, and he quickly said:
"Ring."
Edwina nodded almost imperceptibly, the Light Clump in her hand intensified slightly, and the golden liquid slowly writhed, settling into the shape of a ring.
She returned the ring to Lorry, a look of exhaustion flashing across her face.
Lorry tried it on and found that the size was just right. He immediately looked at the captain with gratitude and said earnestly, "Thank you."
He smiled slightly, bringing up the same point again:
"But I still hope you'll consider the compensation."
Sebastian's face emerged from the White Bone Ring, chiming in, "Take it if he gives it to you; the kid's got plenty of money anyway."
Edwina glanced down at the White Bone Ring, her gaze softening considerably.
She showed a thoughtful expression and calmly stated a number:
"Two hundred pounds? That includes the cost of simulating the ' Artisan ' ability, as well as all your subsequent expenses on the ' Golden Dream '."
"During this period, you will enjoy the same treatment as Jodson."
The compensation refers to the bonuses from finding the treasure; Lorry knows that the crew of the "Golden Dream" do not have a base salary.
He simply took action instead of answering, pulling twenty "Nation-Builder" banknotes from his "Lucky Money Bag" and placing them on the table beside him.
Edwina reached out and picked it up, saying, "I've prepared Guest Room for you."
"No need," Lorry declined the captain's offer, explaining, "I'm preparing to obtain that Sealed Artifact as soon as possible."
After saying that, he looked down at the White Bone Ring and handed it to the woman opposite him.
"Thank you," Edwina said softly, glancing down at her seemingly aged, miniature face before looking around.
"Apart from a few items sealed by the Wall of Spirituality, the other books, notes, and collectibles are all within your free browsing range."
"Excuse me, I'll have to stay a moment."
"You're the captain, so of course you call the shots." Lorry shrugged with a smile, and soon heard footsteps behind him, followed by the sound of a door closing.
His gaze wandered aimlessly, landing on a book on the table with a dark brown cover and parchment binding, the title written in Ancient Feysac:
Groselle's Travels
Meanwhile, in the Bedroom next door, separated by only one wall.
"Vice Admiral Iceberg" Edwina's eyes reddened slightly, and she pursed her lips tightly.
"What are you crying for... You're Sequence 5 and you're still acting like a child..." The aged voice was full of disdain, but the manifested facial features and expression were quite kind.
As he spoke, Sebastian suddenly laughed:
"Good.
"To be a ' Mysticism Mentor ' at such a young age, she truly deserves to be my most promising student."
Edwina sniffed, a proud smile spreading across her face, just like when she stood in front of the Blackboard receiving praise from her mentor years ago.
She calmed herself down for a moment and asked seriously:
"Teacher, what exactly happened?"
