Background / History

Ye Bufan is the long-lost son of the Kyoto Ye Family. Shortly after his birth, an old Taoist forcibly took him from the Ye Family, and the family failed to find him for years 207. He later appears as Kongyunzi's disciple from the Heavenly Mountain Sect, carrying a sect token and letter that grant him entry to the Lingnan Song Family 99.

In Jiangcheng, Ye Bufan first draws attention at a school gate while carrying a snakeskin bag and dressed badly enough to be mocked as a beggar 9. After conflict with the Mu Family, Mu Yunguo offers him five million to leave, but Ye Bufan refuses out of pride 27. He then tries to attach himself to the Lin Family, even asking Lin Chongwu to become his adoptive father so he can use the Lin Family's resources against Jiang Cheng 43.

Jiang Cheng repeatedly derails Ye Bufan's attempts to build backing. Ye Bufan is drugged, beaten while unable to use inner energy, framed as mentally ill, and sent to Qingshan Mental Hospital, where he is restrained, injected, and subjected to electrotherapy 47 48 54.
