Heath silently took out his phone and sent Officer Jenny Ling a message. Under Viridian City's road safety regulations, any Pokémon damaging a road had to be reported, so Heath reported it. The damage looked pretty extensive, too. He had no idea what Diglett had done to make Steelix chase him like that. Or did Steelix eat Diglett?

Heath had never looked into that question. After all, he did not really know whether Steelix ate Diglett, nor was he interested in finding out. Such things were hardly uncommon in the Pokémon world, since Ekans ate Rattata, too.

After making the report, Heath took out two warning signs and placed them a hundred and fifty meters before and after the hole. This was to keep passing drivers from overlooking it and finding it too late to brake. Only then did he return to his food truck, intending to drive on to his usual spot.

Unfortunately, he rarely had a chance to show it.

To be precise, none of Viridian City's Officer Jennys had many chances to show what they could do. The last incident at Viridian City's Chemical Plant had been one of their busier periods. Much of the time, Viridian City's Officer Jennys served as firefighters.

"Sister Ling, a Steelix just chased a Diglett through here." Heath shrugged. What could he have done? Steelix was very powerful, and that one had clearly been in a temper. It was common knowledge that unless you could subdue an enraged wild Pokémon instantly, it was best not to disturb it.
