"Quick! Put! It out!!!" Heath could hear Zorua's screams even through the restaurant door, so he set down the eel in his hands without hesitation and rushed into the food truck's lounge. There, he saw a scene worthy of postmodern art: Zorua had a ring of black stuff around its body, and a large mass of ice encased it. Snowman Snorlax was watching Zorua nervously. It was clear that Snowman Snorlax cared a great deal about Zorua.
Zorua, however, was in a rather miserable state, like an ice sculpture. If Snowman Snorlax had not been right there, Heath suspected it would take Charmeleon quite a while to melt such a thick layer of ice with its fire.
Heath blinked. If he had not heard Zorua's wails, he would have wondered whether these little fellows had developed some strange fetish and were playing some thrilling game of ice and fire. Still, seeing Zorua's miserable state, Heath suppressed his smile.
It was a required lesson for every trainer: Pokémon were Pokémon, smarter than cats and dogs, with their own feelings and ways of understanding things. They deserved respect, and attention had to be paid to the little details. Once, someone worshipping Ho-Oh in Ecruteak City had gotten distracted by their phone, read a joke, and laughed aloud. That unlucky person had then been expelled from Ho-Oh's celebration.
"Ahem. What happened here?" Heath cleared his throat, looked at the thawed-out Zorua, then at Charmeleon, whose head was lowered in embarrassment, and asked in puzzlement. He really was curious about this.
"Huohuo just said it wasn't feeling well, so I said I'd bring it out to find you, Trainer, and then take it to see a doctor. But the moment I turned around, Huohuo spat out a huge mouthful of fire and burned me."
