Heath took out the strange device, puzzled. When he had first received it from Ho-Oh, he had not known exactly how to use it. He had studied it afterward, but it really seemed to be of little use-completely useless, even. All it ever did was function like a radar, and beyond that, it served no purpose.
But now, the Aura Searcher had shown a new response.
"The Aura Searcher's reacting? Is that a Shadow Pokémon?" Heath stared at the words displayed on the Aura Searcher and the red dot on its screen, momentarily stunned. Had it detected a Shadow Pokémon? So was finding Shadow Pokémon what this thing was for?
Heath was somewhat surprised. Although seeing Shadow Lugia's feather back then had led him to suspect that Shadow Pokémon might exist in this world, he had not expected one to appear so soon.
Shadow Pokémon were a very special kind of Pokémon. They possessed Shadow moves, which differed from ordinary moves, and their natures and other such information could not be viewed. Since they only appeared in a Pokémon spin-off, they were absent from the main series games. Heath had not studied these Pokémon much, but curiosity still drove him to steer the food truck toward the stationary red dot on the radar.
"Trainer, aren't you going to bed yet?" Zoroark yawned. Charmeleon and the others had all gone to sleep, leaving only Heath here driving.
"You all go to sleep first. I've got something to do." Heath shook his head. It was rare to come across a Shadow Pokémon, and he intended to go see what sort of strange Pokémon it was. Perhaps he could even have Professor Oak study it.
As he continued on, Heath noticed something was off.
"This red dot seems to be inside Pokémon Tower?"
