"How many times have I told you? Once you've spread the batter out enough, you can add the ingredients. And why do you keep putting your wings on the griddle? Are you trying to get me thrown in jail?" Heath sat helplessly in his chair, watching Farfetch'd. He felt utterly drained.

Farfetch'd certainly had admirable determination, but that determination was making Heath suffer. All the money he had earned that morning had gone toward buying ingredients, and now Farfetch'd had ruined another ten Jianbing Guozi.

Ten whole portions! Heath's heart was practically bleeding. And judging by the look on Farfetch'd's face, the duck intended to make a few more. Heath felt that unless he came up with something soon, Farfetch'd would bankrupt him sooner or later.

The blackened edges of Farfetch'd's wings were giving Heath a headache, too.

Wasting ingredients was a relatively minor problem. Farfetch'd's tendency to put those wings on the griddle while cooking, however, was a real headache. The League took the protection of Farfetch'd very seriously.

If anyone saw this, the Officer Jennys would probably rush over the very next moment and pin Heath to the ground as a villain attempting to "eat grilled Farfetch'd wings."

"All right, I'll walk you through it." Heath wiped his hands. He decided to hold Farfetch'd's wings himself and guide the duck through the process.

With Heath's help, Farfetch'd successfully made a Jianbing Guozi that looked fairly decent. Heath took a bite. It was a little undercooked. Apparently, Farfetch'd wasn't very good at controlling the heat.

The heat?

Heath thought of the TM he had received that morning. Would things improve if he taught Farfetch'd Fire Punch?

Heath didn't even know whether Farfetch'd could learn it, but thinking of his golden finger, he felt it was worth a try.

Heath took out the TM. It was a disc with the words "Fire Punch" written on it, looking much like the bootleg discs sold on the street. That left Heath at a loss. How was he supposed to use this thing?

Heath held Farfetch'd still and inspected the duck. There wasn't anywhere to insert a CD.

[Would you like Farfetch'd to learn Fire Punch?]

Delighted, Heath quickly nodded. Fortunately, his golden finger was powerful enough. Otherwise, he wouldn't have known what to do.

Once Heath confirmed, the disc vanished. Farfetch'd froze for a moment, then looked at Heath in confusion and let out a soft cry.

"Try it again now." Heath guided Farfetch'd through making another Jianbing Guozi. This time, the duck's control of the heat had indeed improved somewhat. At least the resulting Jianbing Guozi was edible, though its flavor left much to be desired.

Then Heath watched anxiously as Farfetch'd made a Jianbing Guozi alone, quickly offering instructions whenever he spotted anything wrong. At last, Farfetch'd placed a Jianbing Guozi on a plate.

[Farfetch'd has made a Jianbing Guozi. You have received a special reward.] [You have received a GS Ball.]

Heath froze. What kind of reward was this? What was a GS Ball?

The name sounded like a Poké Ball, but when Heath tried it, the thing wouldn't open at all. Yet this was the reward his golden finger had given him. Heath tried to bargain, but his golden finger didn't seem capable of communicating, leaving him rather deflated.

"I don't know what it's for, but I'll keep it for now." Heath shook his head. He had no idea what the GS Ball did. He remembered it being an item in one of the movies, but couldn't remember which one.

Still, the GS Ball looked quite nice. Heath decided to use it as a decoration.

After making a Jianbing Guozi alone for the first time, Farfetch'd looked much more excited, waving that leek around and laughing triumphantly.

Watching Farfetch'd, Heath didn't know whether to laugh or cry. Wasn't it just one Jianbing Guozi? Egg Fried Rice and plenty of other dishes were still waiting down the road.

"Come on, Farfetch'd. Let's go home." Heath stroked Farfetch'd's head. It was fluffy and felt lovely to touch.

"Far!" Farfetch'd nodded, then followed Heath toward the Officer Jenny Dormitory Area.

When Heath returned to the dorm, Sister Feng wasn't back yet, and he was happy to have some peace and quiet. He had intended to use her computer to look up the rumors about Viridian Forest, but discovered that it apparently couldn't connect to the internet.

"A white figure... What exactly is that thing?" Heath was curious. Some people said curiosity killed the cat, but others said curiosity was the driving force behind human progress.

Besides, his golden finger had specifically stated that it was an important clue. Heath felt that even if he didn't trust the rumors, he could still trust his golden finger.

Based on that clue from his golden finger, all Heath knew so far was that there might be an extremely fast, white Pokémon in Viridian Forest.

"What Pokémon could it be? A white one, though..." Heath was rather lost. Although he remembered some Pokémon, he really couldn't recall the white ones very clearly.

As the sky slowly darkened, Officer Jenny Feng dragged her exhausted body inside. Heath knew she had arrived the moment she entered, because the smell of sweat was all too obvious.

"Ahh~ Little Heath, you must be a god! Coming home to all this delicious food is just wonderful!" A sweaty woman threw her arms around Heath, making his hand jerk. He nearly dropped his spoon on the floor.

"Sister Feng!" Heath sounded rather helpless. She was already in her twenties, so why was she still so immature, like a little kid?

"Bleh, bleh, bleh! Little Heath is angry~" Officer Jenny Feng released him with a laugh, then sat down in a chair.

Looking at Sister Feng, who was always so mature and composed outside, Heath helplessly fetched her a dry towel.

"You're drenched in sweat, and you still won't change your clothes. Aren't you afraid you'll catch a cold?" Heath felt a headache coming on.

Officer Jenny Feng was the first kind person Heath had met after transmigrating here. She had been willing to take him in and care for him. She looked much like all the other Officer Jennys, except that her eyes were a little larger.

She was a good person, and despite her youth, she had already become the captain of the Viridian City Public Security Office. Sister Feng had also lent Heath the money to start his breakfast stall. To Heath, Officer Jenny Feng wasn't his biological older sister, but she was better than one.

"What is there to worry about? With a body like mine, how could I catch a cold? Arcanine!" Officer Jenny Feng deftly picked up a piece of chicken with her chopsticks and popped it into her mouth. Then she tossed out a Poké Ball, and an imposing Arcanine stood proudly beside her.
