Inside the reopened Boarding Shop, Purple Cloud sat on the counter, counting off one paw with the other, an unprecedentedly solemn expression on its face.
Standing nearby, Starlight looked at Purple Cloud's movements, then down at its own hooves, and gave up on learning to count like its big sister. It silently turned toward the Nine-Nine Multiplication Table posted on the wall, its expression becoming serious.
It had to memorize this table!
Neither Contract Beast had much objection to the new resource distribution plan Xu Ran had finally devised after finding inspiration on the Beast Tamer Forum.
Arithmetic had therefore become a compulsory subject for both of them.
They would lose out if they couldn't keep their accounts straight!
"Boss Xu, your grooming really exceeded my expectations!" Emerging through the open Grooming Room door, the customer held a Contract Beast whose appearance had improved several notches, delight on his face. "I'm going to recommend your shop to my friends."
"Then thank you in advance. Come again." Xu Ran smiled.
After seeing the customer off, Xu Ran turned toward the two Contract Beasts still working hard to memorize the Nine-Nine Multiplication Table and chuckled. "Don't rush. With your intelligence, a few days will be enough to learn it."
"I'll hold on to your Value Points for now. Once you've learned arithmetic, we'll officially start distributing them."
To help the two Contract Beasts better understand Value Points, Xu Ran had told them a few things he hadn't mentioned before, while keeping the system's existence secret.
For example, fusing skills relied on Skill Fusion Stones, and skills he couldn't teach them could be broken down into Skill Fragments...
Xu Ran had now used up all his available Constitution Points and Skill Points, and Eye
