Background / History

Starlight grew up at Xu Kun’s Horse Beast Breeding Base with his father, Chasing Wind, and mother, Black Skies. Although both parents were Supernatural Creatures, he was born an ordinary foal. He repeatedly tried to catch up with his supernatural companions rather than accept their insistence that his limitations were fate. Xu Kun named him for his habit of watching the stars alone on cloudless nights 84.

Chasing Wind encouraged Starlight to follow Xu Ran as a possible way to change his future. Determined to seize the opportunity, the young foal carried Xu Ran around the grounds despite the strain. Xu Ran took him home and used an Awakening Stone on him 84.

During awakening, Starlight followed familiar voices through darkness but was repeatedly repelled by wind, fire, lightning, and other powers. A dim star he had long identified with finally brightened and descended onto his forehead. He emerged as a Darknight Colt and contracted with Xu Ran 85.

Life at the shop initially left him unsettled despite his excitement. Purple Cloud noticed and introduced him to the living quarters and boarders. Xu Ran also provided a large nighttime habitat and access to a Dark Element training area, where Starlight diligently completed his daily six-hour sessions 91 97 100.

Appearance

  • Darknight Colt: A glossy black equine with amethyst-like eyes, a white starburst mark on his forehead, and a mane and tail shading from black roots to purple tips. His hooves are purple and gemstone-like 85 96.
  • Size: Grew to over two meters upon awakening, then four meters upon reaching Elite Rank 85 101.
  • Star Divine Horse: Retained his four-meter height but became more muscular. Shifting star-chart patterns appeared across his coat, nebula-like light swirled beneath his hooves, and a dark horn with a brilliant white tip grew from his forehead 156.
  • Nebula Guardian: Developed more vivid star patterns, a completely star-white horn, and markings extending from the horn’s base toward his cheeks. Emperor’s Crown hovered above his head after evolution 375.

Personality

Starlight is persistent, disciplined, and unwilling to let an apparent disadvantage define him. Before awakening, he continued running despite repeated failure; afterward, he maintained full training sessions even when his Stamina Potion wore off. His original desire was simply to run as freely as his companions, and he readily embraced a support role once he could help them 84 96 110.

Usually steady and mature, he takes responsibility for younger teammates and is attentive to others’ discomfort. He introduced the newly hatched Can Can to the boarders and later used his own experiences to encourage the isolated Number Six. Nevertheless, he remains sensitive about falling behind and became visibly jealous when Xu Ran rode the newly flight-capable Purple Cloud instead of him 156 290 314 332.

He also dislikes wasting potential. After discovering that Starry Night’s Prayer multiplied bonuses for skills connected to both darkness and Star Power, he chose the harder goal of connecting all his skills to Star Power rather than only the three required for evolution 291.

Abilities & Skills

Star Power Affinity

  • Starlink was his only Star Power-connected skill at awakening. Fate-Binding Star-Link strengthened that connection, while absorbing Starfall Power allowed him to recognize the power more clearly 290.
  • Starlight senses Star Power in resources and environments, including the stone found beneath the Silent Abyss and the widespread energy circulating through Mysterious Star City 332 346.
  • He suspects that the Dark Element is a stepping stone toward Star Power, which he perceives as distinct from the ten established attributes. This remains his interpretation rather than a confirmed attribute change; his Nebula Guardian appraisal still lists the Dark Element 291 375.

Ally Enhancement — Star God Blessing

  • The skill line began as Duskwatch, which enveloped allies in a dark film and increased their power 85 106.
  • Its Three-Star successor, Dusk Night Emblem, combined stronger boosts with protective emblems and strength-sharing between recipients 134.
  • At Full Moon Level, Dusk Night Emblem could affect twenty recipients, with each emblem blocking sixteen attacks 134.
  • The Four-Star successor, Star God Blessing, provides powerful reinforcement but has substantial costs. At Marshal Rank, boosting the Monarch Rank Can Can drained Starlight faster than he could recover; excluding Can Can made the expenditure sustainable 328.

Linking with Xu Ran — Star Oath

  • Starlink initially manifested as an energy saddle and reins, combining Starlight’s strength with Xu Ran’s 85 87.
  • The link can reinforce either partner: after Starlight reached Elite Rank, his strength notably empowered Xu Ran rather than primarily drawing strength from him 106.
  • Fate-Binding Star-Link further amplified their combined power and allowed Xu Ran to share Starlight’s perception and protection 141 291 310.
  • Star Oath, its Four-Star successor, powerfully connects their abilities and lets them travel instantly to one another 324.

Recovery and Self-Enhancement — Starry Night’s Prayer

Created from four Three-Star Skills, Starry Night’s Prayer has two complementary aspects 291:

  • Night’s Prayer: Restores energy, heals injuries, and amplifies Dark Element skills.
  • Star’s Prayer: Temporarily strengthens Starlight, creates starlight protection, and amplifies Star Power skills.
  • Multiplicative enhancement: Skills connected to both the Dark Element and Star Power receive both bonuses multiplicatively, rather than additively.
  • Protection limit: Its shield cannot be distributed to teammates like Dusk Night Emblem, but Xu Ran can share it through their link.
  • Defensive strength: Its protection is substantially stronger than Dusk Night Emblem’s and gives Starlight room to maneuver against opponents one growth rank above him.

Speed, Concealment, and Size Control

  • Night March: Increased movement speed but required darkness. Nightfall supplied a local nighttime environment at a continuous energy cost 86 87.
  • Night-Hiding Star Gallop: Combined increased speed with concealment, making Starlight nearly translucent and suppressing his aura during his ranking test 141 182.
  • Gap-Flow Shuttle: Shrinks his body without reducing strength, increasing speed and agility 179 182.
  • Star Pursuit: Greatly surpasses Night-Hiding Star Gallop’s speed. Its Astral Spirit Body completely conceals his presence and increases Star Power affinity in proportion to his running speed 350.

Illusion Dispelling and Negative-Effect Removal

  • Undying Star Guidance: Released light from his horn to dispel illusions and falsehoods 156 158.
  • Star-Ring Repulsion / Star-Repelling Ring: Strengthened illusion dispelling and added the ability to remove negative effects within its range. It reduced the adverse effects of Can Can’s Dragon Tortoise’s Might 219.
  • It dismantled Twelve’s enhanced illusion even after her evolution, including an illusory snack she was holding 319.
  • Limit: A sufficiently powerful guardian bypassed Starlight’s protection and drew the entire group into nightmares 274.
  • The skill later advanced into the Four-Star Nebula Saint Ring 375.

Perception, Suppression, and Control

  • Night Eyes / Night Pursuit Appraisal / Stargazing: His perception skill line began with enhanced vision. Night Pursuit Appraisal made the dark landscape clearly visible to Xu Ran through their link, and later advanced into Four-Star Stargazing 110 310 350.
  • Silent Realm: Covers a surrounding area with Dark Element power, briefly preventing opponents from using skills. Affected enemies can still fight using supernatural power 219.
  • Star-Sky Suppression Lock: Four-Star successor to Monarch’s Might; its specific effects are not described in the supplied passages 375.

Starlight Enlightenment

  • Provides one revelation per day, functioning similarly to divination 376.
  • After Xu Ran raised it to Sun Halo Level, Starlight received the words “Beast Domain No. 76” while seeking a clue to the missing Demonwood Half-Saint 376.

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Energy saddle and reins — Manifested through Starlink for Xu Ran to ride and establish their connection 85.
  • Dark Hoof Iron — Ink-crystal horseshoes fitted to all four hooves; enhanced speed more strongly than raw strength 123.
  • Black-pearl necklace — A resource worn around his neck during his Elite Rank development 123.
  • Darknight Demon Dragon’s horn — Main material for his Star Divine Horse evolution. His forehead mark overcame its darkness and made the horn part of his body 125 156.
  • Accounting stone — Used to keep track of resources. After leaving it in Qingzhou City, Starlight jokingly blamed its absence for his declining wealth and resolved to retrieve it 179.

Relationships

  • Xu Ran — Beast Tamer and trusted partner. Awakened Starlight, trained him, and became the person through whom he changed his future 84 85 156.
  • Purple Cloud — Senior teammate whom Starlight treats as a big sister. Helped him adjust to the shop; her example later guided how he welcomed Can Can 96 97 156.
  • Can Can — Younger teammate whom Starlight introduced to the boarders. They explore together, exchange resources, and regard their team as family. Can Can yielded the next emperor-species evolution route to Starlight 156 165 260 290.
  • Chasing Wind — Father, childhood idol, and original running goal. Entrusted him to Xu Ran and later visited to express thanks for his transformation 84 156 165.
  • Black Skies — Mother. Her image appeared during Starlight’s awakening trial before being swallowed by darkness 84 85.
  • Xu Kun — Owner of the breeding base where Starlight grew up; named him and supported his departure with Xu Ran 84.
  • Firefly / Number Six — Encouraged the isolated bear to embrace its differences by sharing his own history, helping it choose to leave with Xu Ran 314 315.
  • Twelve — Teammate whose illusions Starlight repeatedly counters, prompting her to test her improved abilities against him 319.

Story Role / Major Arcs

Supporting Purple Cloud’s Evolution

  • Helped Xu Ran recover the Thunderlight Stone Heart and carried him away from pursuing lizards while Purple Cloud evolved 115.
  • Received additional strength through Starlink as Purple Cloud’s evolving power flowed through Xu Ran, sustaining their escape until she defeated the pursuers 115.

Becoming a Star Divine Horse

  • Underwent evolution while running through darkness with his eyes closed and relying on Xu Ran’s directions 156.
  • Overcame the Darknight Demon Dragon horn’s resistance through the power of his white star marking 156.
  • Recognized that the guiding light he had sought in a distant star had also been present in his father, Xu Ran, Purple Cloud, and Can Can 156.

Beast Taming Rankings

Underground Exploration and Nightmares

  • Explored beneath Demonwood City with Can Can and reported thunder, a powerful creature, and a possible Monarch Rank resource rather than investigating alone 260.
  • Protected the team during their return descent, but the guardian’s stronger nightmare power bypassed his defenses 274.
  • Relived losing a foal race and being told he could never match his companions. He broke through the memory by recognizing how far he had come and affirming that he could now keep up 274.
  • Traveled to Mysterious Star City for its abundant Star Power and suitable evolution ritual conditions 332.
  • Helped locate a Star Power-bearing stone in the former Star Abyss while searching for the Star-Guarding Stone 346.
  • Completed his Nebula Guardian evolution once the Star-Guarding Stone arrived 375.
  • Supplied the clue directing Xu Ran toward Beast Domain No. 76, then carried him toward the possible location of the missing Demonwood Half-Saint 376.

Trivia

  • Starlight once identified with a dim star that seemed out of place among the others, seeing it as a reflection of his own position among supernatural horses 85.
  • Despite normally acting like the team’s most mature member, he considered Xu Ran’s choice to ride Purple Cloud a threat to his special position as a mount and decided he wanted wings at his next evolution 332.
  • He joined Purple Cloud and Can Can in secretly cooking red-braised pork for Xu Ran. The dish burned, but Xu Ran tasted it and called it delicious 278.
  • His post-evolution panel lists Dawn of the Stars, while the following chapter introduces the revelation skill as Starlight Enlightenment. The supplied passages do not clarify the naming difference 375 376.
