Ch. 22Chapter 22

Big B sent Chan Ho-nam to kill Ba Bi, while Gu Sheng used his newly unlocked Wheel rewards to improve his skills and considered how to advance. After Chan Ho-nam killed Ba Bi, Gu Sheng convinced Teem-Kwan that he had been cheated out of a promised loan and ended their call on friendly terms.

  • Big B gave Chan Ho-nam Ba Bi’s whereabouts and ordered him to kill Ba Bi in Yau Ma Tei.
  • Gu Sheng used his Wheel pulls, unlocked its second tier, and raised Muay Thai to proficient LV5 and Shooting to LV3.
  • Gu Sheng decided not to kill Ba Bi himself because he wanted the conflict between Teem-Kwan and Big B to help him rise through the ranks.
  • Two days later, Teem-Kwan called Gu Sheng after Chan Ho-nam killed Ba Bi and accused him of colluding with Big B’s men.
  • Gu Sheng pretended to be furious that Ba Bi’s death cost him a promised seven-million loan, then refused Teem-Kwan’s offer to work for him while promising to support him when needed.

Ch. 23Into the ring

  • GS told Ah Tung to contact Mantis and find a secluded place suitable for burying people.

Ch. 26Fake. Definitely fake.

After seeing news of an armored truck robbery, Gu Sheng passed Officer Wei a tip about the robbers’ likely hideout, then gathered intelligence on Hung Lok and went to the Mayflower nightclub to meet Ann. He left the chapter at the nightclub, scrutinizing Ann as Gentleman Sing’s interest in her put her near the center of his plans.

  • Big-Eyed Hua announced that Brother S had ordered Hongxing to clear Hung Lok out of Tin Shui Wai, and he led the men to the nightclub where Gentleman Sing had been captured.
  • Concrete and Tai Bo Ball arrived at the nightclub, but Hongxing attacked Concrete’s venues and scattered his men while Gentleman Sing remained trapped inside.
  • GS ordered Ah Tung and Mantis to torture Gentleman Sing for Hung Lok’s drug locations, cash, ledgers, and membership lists, then sent Hongxing to attack Tai Bo Ball’s territory.
  • Hongxing overwhelmed Tai Bo Ball’s men, and GS threatened the nightclub manager and madam into keeping quiet while offering Ann a way to seek his help.
  • Ah Tung reported that Hung Lok had six million in its accounts and about five million stashed with its ledgers, and GS left with the barely conscious Gentleman Sing as the police sirens approached.

  • GS inspected the new gym, rejected Hung Fist as too slow to teach, and ordered his men to arrange a meeting with Shark Yan.
  • Sex Fiend Hung demanded three hundred thousand from Bik Ham, threatening to take Ann if they failed to pay within three days.

  • GS threatened to take Sex Fiend Hung’s other hand unless he paid, and Sex Fiend Hung agreed to give him five hundred and ten thousand dollars and return the debt papers.
  • GS took the money and debt papers, made Sex Fiend Hung walk them to the car, and then had his men dump him half a kilometer away.

Ch. 36Your spending money

  • Bik Ham told Au Ka-Chuen and Blackie that Gu Sheng had settled the trouble, and David Chow argued with him over Ann.
  • Gu Sheng met Ann at a hotel, and she called her brother to check on him and the others.
  • The next morning, Gu Sheng told Ann the money he left was spending money and that she would be with him for a year, then gave her more cash and arranged a Pager and a place to live.

Ch. 38The plot begins

Gu Sheng established his foothold in Yuen Long and opened a flagship store in Causeway Bay while maneuvering for the district boss position. At headquarters, Chiang Tin-sang made the role contingent on resolving a Macau dispute, and Teem-Kwan pushed for Gu Sheng over Big B’s injured candidate, Chan Ho-nam.

  • Big B brought Chan Ho-nam and Chicken to Chiang Tin-sang, who assigned them a Macau casino job; Teem-Kwan’s men ambushed the group, killed Chow Pei, and trapped Chan Ho-nam with Ho Yan while Silly Keung filmed them.
  • After Chan Ho-nam returned from Macau, Ho Yan told the others what had happened, and Chicken broke with Chan Ho-nam.
  • At the next Hongxing meeting, GS challenged Big B’s authority and asked Teem-Kwan for a copy of the scandalous tape, enraging Chan Ho-nam and darkening Big B’s expression.

Ch. 40The dust settled

At the Hongxing meeting, Teem-Kwan won Chiang Tin-sang’s seat and Chan Ho-nam was expelled, while GS was chosen to take over the Macau job. GS left with the videotape and sailed from Yuen Long toward Macau, intent on completing the mission and advancing to Causeway Bay Boss.
