In the land of the Undead, silence should have been the prevailing mood. Saurfang had once believed that the dead possessed endless energy, but would not waste time talking, because their strange voices made them loathe themselves. The one thing the Death Knight felt grateful for was that his appearance remained intact. Some Undead creatures, like those he had seen in the inn, were missing arms or legs.
But the Forsaken inn was a little too lively. Shouts and chatter rose one after another. Saurfang had frowned the moment he was brought here. Back in Stormwind City, he had visited inns and taverns more than once. Yet whenever he entered such places where people passed the time, he would disrupt the owner's business and instantly freeze the cheerful atmosphere. No one wanted to drink and chat with a Death Knight.
Things were somewhat different in Forsaken territory. When Saurfang arrived, no one paid him any attention. Everyone was busy raising their cups. Only a few people glanced at him now and then, then gave him no further notice. Saurfang smiled. Only the living could draw their attention, he thought.
"New here?" The innkeeper, Reni, was a woman. Aside from a few dark patches on her skin, her face was fairly presentable. "What would you like to drink?"
Saurfang had traveled for an entire day from Ebon Hold without a drop of water. Even the dead disliked the feeling of dry lips. But when the Death Knight thought of the wine sold here being brewed by the dead, he abandoned the idea of ordering anything. It was not that he found it disgusting; he simply feared the Forsaken might have added some other strange ingredients to their drinks.
