Formation

The Alliance arose after Anduin Lothar reported the fall of Stormwind, the death of King Llane, and the Horde's expected advance into the northern human kingdoms. The assembled rulers initially focused on their own borders and military interests, but Lothar insisted that no kingdom could withstand the Horde alone. 37

Terenas secured agreement to gather the kingdoms' forces, declared the Lordaeron Alliance formed, and appointed Lothar Supreme Commander. The arrangement gave the coalition a shared military leader while allowing its rulers to retain their own political authority. 40

Early War

The Alliance established a command post near Southshore, chosen for its central position and access to sea routes. Lothar organized the joint army, Turalyon became his deputy, and Daelin continued to direct naval operations. 44

Lothar was killed in battle against Orgrim Doomhammer. Turalyon subsequently led Alliance pursuit operations against the retreating Horde and later commanded forces during the expedition through the Dark Portal. 98 99 121

Expansion and Political Change

Quel'Thalas moved from symbolic assistance to active participation after attacks on its homeland demonstrated that it could not remain secure alone. 81

In later years, the Alliance's leadership included Stormwind, Night Elf, Dwarven, Draenei, and Gilnean representatives. Its growing influence also created friction with the Forsaken, the Horde, and factions distrustful of the High Elves. 375 392 630

• Horde — The Alliance was founded to oppose the Horde, but both factions have entered temporary military cooperation when facing threats such as Lei Shen and Garrosh. 37 721 723
