That evening, Jiang Xianrong went into the kitchen herself and cooked a few of her specialties.

Ye Yiming brought out an aged liquor he had treasured for years without ever bringing himself to drink it, then pulled Luo Yang over to drink with him.

The elderly couple had Luo Yang so confused that he could hardly tell whether he was in his own home or someone else's.

After dinner, Luo Yang went to clear the dishes, but Jiang Xianrong stopped him.

"Luo, I don't need you here. I'll clean up. Go keep your Uncle Ye company." Jiang Xianrong was all smiles.

"Auntie, you're a guest. How could I let you wash the dishes?" Luo Yang felt a little bad.

"Oh, stop calling me a guest. There's no need to be so formal. Go on, go on. Don't get in my way." Jiang Xianrong simply pushed him aside.

Luo Yang was caught between staying and leaving, feeling thoroughly awkward.

To make matters worse, Song Meiqi winked at him, looking utterly delighted.

"Meiqi, what are you laughing at?" Luo Yang asked.

Song Meiqi walked up to Luo Yang and lowered her voice. "Uncle Luo, congratulations. You've already passed Grandma's test."

Luo Yang: "..."

Of all the things he could have done, he should never have asked her.

"Grandpa's test probably won't be a problem either. Hurry over and say something nice," Song Meiqi instructed him in a whisper.

Luo Yang rolled his eyes at Song Meiqi, but that was all he could do.

The older man and the younger man drank tea on the terrace.

"Luo, I told a few old friends about you. Every one of them was amazed, and they all wanted to meet you. I told them I'd have to ask you first." Ye Yiming's eyes were full of anticipation.

Luo Yang smiled. "Sure. Since they're your friends, Uncle Ye, it would be nice to meet them."

Ye Yiming beamed at that. "Then it's settled. I'll get everyone together sometime and invite you over for drinks."

Luo Yang nodded. "All right. Just call me when you've arranged it, Uncle Ye."

Ye Yiming changed the subject. "Oh, about that five hundred thousand..."

"There's no rush," Luo Yang said politely.

Ye Yiming's weathered face creased into a smile. "Then I'll hold on to it and buy you a car later. How can a master like you go out without a decent car?"

Luo Yang froze.

What was going on?

After tea, Ye Yiming and Jiang Xianrong left, while Song Meiqi stayed behind.

Song Meiqi sat on the sofa watching cartoons, and Luo Yang kept her company. Ye Zi liked to video-call him around this time, but tonight her call still hadn't come. He couldn't say why, but he kept feeling as though something was missing.

"Uncle Luo, let's talk." Song Meiqi actually turned off the television.

Luo Yang asked curiously, "What do you want to talk about?"

"Grandpa saying he'd buy you a car, of course. What else?"

At a loss for words, Luo Yang gently poked Song Meiqi's little head. "Wouldn't it be better to fill that little head with poetry or multiplication tables? You're so young. Why are you worrying about grown-up matters?"

"Because you're so dumb, of course I have to worry about you. It's not like I worry about anyone else."

Luo Yang: "..."

"Don't deny it when I call you dumb. When Grandpa said he'd buy you a car, do you know what he meant?" Song Meiqi wore a little look of disdain.

"You do?"

"That's my mom's dowry! Uncle Luo, how can you be so dumb? I don't even know what to say to you anymore." Song Meiqi poked Luo Yang in the forehead.

Luo Yang turned to stone on the spot.

Song Meiqi fell asleep.

Back in his room, Luo Yang took out his phone. The entire day had gone by, and only now did he have time to properly examine the phone that had fused with the Feather Blade's Eye.

The screen looked much like an ordinary phone screen, except it was no longer quite so black. There was a hint of green in the black. That green tint also affected its appearance, making it less clear and giving it a somewhat "stone-like" quality.

There were more red "blood vessels" on the back of the phone, and some had even "branched out." The originally black rear casing had turned black and red, with more red than black.

"Feather Blade." Luo Yang tried to awaken the Feather Blade's Eye.

The Feather Blade's Eye did not respond.

Luo Yang tried twice more, still without a response. Then he extended his Primordial Medical Finger, pressed it against the corner of the Feather Blade's Eye, and infused Spiritual Power into the eye.

Thin strands of Spiritual Power flowed into the Feather Blade's Eye, but it still did not respond.

Fifteen minutes passed.

Luo Yang lifted his Primordial Medical Finger. After all, he was no legendary great Shaman with limitless Spiritual Power. After holding out for fifteen minutes, he could go no further.

"Meow!" A cat's cry came from the balcony.

Luo Yang looked toward the sound. Outside the floor-to-ceiling window, an orange cat stood on the balcony. It was plump, with sleek fur and a pampered air. It was probably someone's pet from the residential complex, out for a nighttime stroll.

The orange cat crouched on the stone railing, meowing over and over.

Finding it a little noisy, Luo Yang waved his hand. "Go away!"

The instant he waved, he suddenly sensed a strange fluctuation of energy.

The orange cat rose from the railing and leaped into the crown of a tree several meters away, then glanced back at Luo Yang.

Luo Yang hurriedly turned the phone over. He thought the Feather Blade's Eye had opened, but it hadn't.

"Strange. I clearly felt..." Even Luo Yang himself couldn't quite put it into words.

Still, an idea soon came to him.

"Come back!" Luo Yang aimed the phone at the orange cat that had jumped onto the branches.

The strange fluctuation of energy appeared again.

The orange cat turned around, sprang into the air, and shot back onto the balcony.

Luo Yang stared at the phone in his hand in disbelief.

"Go away!"

The orange cat jumped into the tree's crown.

"Come back!"

The orange cat jumped back onto the balcony.

He repeated this seven or eight times, and it worked every time.

On the ninth attempt, the orange cat was too exhausted to jump far enough to reach the balcony and fell straight down.

Luo Yang rushed onto the balcony to look. He saw the orange cat climb out of a flower bed and walk off, meowing as though cursing him out.

This time, Luo Yang didn't call it back. He had figured it out. With the Feather Blade's Eye fused to his phone, he effectively possessed a modern Witch Artifact of his own.

It was a little embarrassing, but that was the truth...

To be precise, it was actually a Biological Remote Control.
