A strange rule
In the Breeze Ballroom, in front of the white Orb Statues made up of countless skulls.
Lumian paused there, gazing for a few seconds at the Inscription written in Intis language: "They Slumber here, awaiting the arrival of happiness and hope."
He looked away and walked towards the door.
Two Thug dressed in white shirts and black jackets simultaneously turned to the side and greeted each other with considerable respect:
Good morning, Charles.
They had heard rumors that the young man had killed Margot and severely injured Wilson in just a few days, and they also knew that he had joined the Savoie Gang.
"Good morning, my cabbages," Lumian replied with a smile, using the Dalege Region's affectionate nickname.
The Breeze Ballroom was still relatively empty; the waiters were tidying up the chairs and cleaning the floor, taking their time.
Lumian was about to look for Louis, whom he had met before, since such a trivial matter did not need to alarm Baron Brignais, when he saw Missiri, who had followed him before, sitting at the bar.
Missiri was still wearing that Flat Cap and drinking a glass of Rye Beer.
Lumian Past with a smile.
Missiri noticed someone approaching and instinctively glanced at them out of the corner of his eye.
Suddenly, he froze, as if he had been frozen in place.
The next second, he jumped off the Bar Stool, turned to Lumian, and put on a fawning smile:
Good morning, Charles.
Missiri also heard about Charles killing Margot and throwing Wilson off the Fourth Floor of the Golden Rooster Inn.
This made him extremely grateful that after being caught following Charles, he hadn't stubbornly resisted to the end; otherwise, given Charles's modus operandi, he would have been buried somewhere Underground Trier by now.
This is a truly ruthless person. He can kill without hesitation, and throw you off a building without a second thought!
Lumian smiled:
"Just calling Charles doesn't seem respectful enough, does it?"
After successfully seeing Missiri's face turn pale, Lumian added:
"I wonder when I will be able to be called Charles."
This was both a joke and a subtle indication that he wanted to "work hard" and "strive for advancement" to become the leader of the Savoie Gang as soon as possible.
"Soon, very soon," Missiri said with a forced smile.
His true thought was: If you're willing, I can call you Sir right now, just like Baron isn't really Baron; it's more of a nickname and a self-designation.
Lumian sat down at the bar and patted the Bar Stool next to him:
"Please sit down. I have something I'd like to ask you."
Missiri quickly sat down, pointed to the Rye Beer in front of him, and said, "Want a glass?"
"A ' Ranger ', please." Lumian made no attempt to be polite.
"Ranger" refers to an orange and pomegranate flavored beer, which costs a full two Rick more than Rye Beer.
Missiri felt a pang of regret, but still called out to the Bartender, "A ' Ranger '!"
Then, he turned his head and smiled at Lumian, "What do you want to ask?"
Lumian waited until the large, orange-colored beer was pushed in front of him before asking, "How did you join our Savoie Gang?"
"I am Savoie," Missiri said, pointing to his weathered face. "I came to Trier hoping to find work, but That One fellow countryman who provided me with lodging had already joined the Savoie Gang."
The Savoie Gang was Primordial One established by Savoie people who worked as laborers, Waiter, and peddlers in the Honest Market District. They were Personality, daring, and unafraid of sacrifice, and quickly gained a Territory. Later, as the Savoie Gang grew, they also recruited people from other provinces and locals from Trier, but most of the core members still came from the Savoie Province.
Nodding slightly, Lumian continued, "Is Baron Brignais the Boss of the entire Savoie Gang?"
"No." Missiri looked at Lumian with a surprised expression.
He joined our Savoie Gang without even understanding its basic structure?
Moreover, he killed Margot and severely damaged Wilson for the sake of our Savoie Gang!
Lumian took a sip of his orange and pomegranate-flavored beer and said with a smile, "I always thought Baron Brignais was our Boss. With his charisma, his style, and his power, how could he not be the Boss?"
Missiri was terrified and just wanted to cover Charles's mouth with her hand.
Is it appropriate to say these things in such a public setting?
If that That One were to hear about this, his attitude towards the Baron would definitely Change!
Missiri quickly explained, "The Baron is mainly in charge of Breeze Ballroom, Market Avenue, and loan sharking. There are others in similar positions, such as ' Rat ' Christo, who manages the smuggling business; ' Giant ' Simon, who manages the Dance Hall on Nightingale Street; ' Red Boots ' Franca, who manages White Coat Street; and ' Blood Palm ' Black, who manages half of Honest Man's Market."
Above them is a real Boss, but I don't know who he is, and I've never seen him."
At this point, Missiri lowered his voice:
"I've only heard that he's a respectable businessman, a member of the Savoie Chamber of Commerce, and that his business is quite large."
A member of the Savoie Chamber of Commerce? It sounds like the Savoie Chamber of Commerce supported such a Gang to facilitate some shady dealings and to guard against attacks from competitors... Based on his observations during his wanderings, Aurora's fragmented words, and the books, magazines, and newspapers in his home, Lumian made some guesses.
At this moment, upon hearing that Charles had arrived at the Breeze Ballroom, Louis, who had been following Baron Brignais, hurried downstairs and headed straight for the bar.
He was genuinely worried that the incredibly audacious country bumpkin would get into trouble again!
Seeing Lumian chatting with Missiri, he sat down on the other side and casually inquired, "You're at the Breeze Ballroom so early?"
"I need your help with something." Lumian smiled.
Louis, whose forehead still bore the marks of bruising from laughing, felt a jolt in his heart:
"What's up?"
Seeing that they seemed to be discussing serious matters, Missiri made an excuse, picked up his Rye Beer, left the bar, and moved to a spot closer to the dance floor.
Lumian looked away and said slowly, "Help me get the Lizard's eyes, the stone from the eagle's nest, and the snake's venom sac."
He did not reveal all the materials needed for the "Prophecy," intending to obtain them from several different places.
"What do you need these things for?" Louis immediately sensed that the three items were rather evil and eerie.
Lumian laughed:
Do you remember how Margot died?
Louis felt a chill run down his spine, sensing that the other party was threatening him, and quite successfully!
"I really didn't mean to scare you this time..." Lumian chuckled inwardly and said, "I stabbed him; the knife was coated with poison."
"Yes." Louis recalled the conversation between Charles and Baron Brignais.
Seeing that this guy still didn't understand what he was trying to say, Lumian couldn't help but curse inwardly:
"How can you be even dumber than Charlie?"
He sighed and said, "Those things are used to make another kind of poison."
"What do you want to do?" Louis nearly stood up.
He suspected this guy was going to get into trouble again.
"For self-defense," Lumian said succinctly.
Unable to find fault, Louis could only take a breath and say, "I'll have someone collect those three things for you."
He then repeated the name of the material to avoid any Error.
After confirming the details, Lumian took a sip of his "Ranger" liquor and asked, "Have you heard of the ' Different from the Rest ' Dance Hall?"
Louis looked at Lumian warily and said, "You'd better not mess with them. The Boss of that Dance Hall, Timmons, seems to be friends with the Police Commissioner of the Observatory District. There seems to be a mysterious organization behind them. Several people who tried to blackmail them before ended up experiencing very strange and terrible things, some even disappearing."
Each district in Trier has a Police Headquarters, headed by a Police Commissioner.
The full name of the Police Commissioner is the Trier Police Affairs Commissioner, which is led by the Trier Police Department Minister.
No wonder the Stinger Gang didn't dare to ask Timmons for the money he owed... Lumian nodded thoughtfully.
Seeing that Louis was always worried that he wanted to cause trouble, he deliberately asked another question:
"Who else in the Stinger Gang is at the same level as Margot, and who is their Boss?"
"What do you want to do?" Louis almost blurted out.
Does Charles intend to wipe out all the strong members of the Stinger Gang?
That's wishful thinking!
Louis tried to calm himself down and said, "You don't need to know for now."
Lumian smiled, asked no further questions, and began to drink his "Ranger" cocktail.
The Observatory District, near the Catacombs.
Lumian found Aosta Roul sitting behind the campfire.
He laughed sarcastically, "You're the most dedicated person I've ever met."
They come here every day of the week to scam people.
"I also want to go to the beach for a swim, but I still owe so much money." Aosta had considered taking the Steam train away from Trier and not repaying the remaining debt, but as soon as he arrived at the Steam Train Station, he was ambushed and severely beaten by Baron Brignais's men.
This made him quite fearful of Baron Brignais's abilities, and he dared not make a similar attempt again.
"Help me collect some points and books," Lumian down. "There's a reward; I'll give you an extra 5 Felkine for each item."
Aosta Roul's eyes lit up immediately:
What do you want?
"Lynx entrails, Hyena tongue, stag marrow, any deadly Herbs," Lumian said, looking at the campfire.
"They're all quite difficult to obtain," Aosta tried to negotiate the price.
He's already decided to ask around at Restaurant in the Observatory District that serve wild game.
Lumian completely ignored him and changed the subject:
Where in Trier can you find the Water Monster?
Aosta thought for a moment and said, "The Catacombs are near the Serenzo River, where there's an Underground River. People often say they've encountered Water Monster."
"There are occasional occurrences along the Serenzo River, but they seem to be quickly dealt with by the ' Purifier ' or the ' Machinery Hivemind '."
Lumian nodded:
Do you know about the "Different from the Rest" Dance Hall?
"I know," Aosta pointed upwards, "It's in the Old Street next to Inferno Square."
"Felkine, take me Past." Lumian stood up.
He planned to take a closer look in person and get a better understanding of the situation; if it didn't work out, he would just give up.
Not long after, Aosta led Lumian back to the ground, turned into the Old Street near the Square, and stopped in front of a very old building.
The building is predominantly grayish-blue, retaining its pre -Roselle era style.
Gabled roof, gabled roof, and windows with lead-framed windows.
The "Different from the Rest" Dance Hall was located on the ground floor of that building, with its entrance shaped like a giant mouth.
It was already afternoon when a carriage stopped by the roadside, and three men and one woman got out.
They were all dressed in dark short suits, approaching the "Different from the Rest" Dance Hall step by step.
As they approached the door, the three men and one woman simultaneously pulled out a Monocle and put it on their right eye.
Seeing this, Lumian turned his head in confusion and looked at Aosta.
Aosta explained with a laugh, "It's a rule at the ' Different from the Rest ' Dance Hall; anyone wanting to get in must wear a short suit and Monocle."
