The timing
The thing that emerged from the mouth of the Assistant Parish Priest Michel Galligu was slightly slender, covered in brownish-green scales, resembling a transparent, blurred Lizard.
As soon as it left Michel's body, its Dark Green vertical eyes darted left and right, surveying its surroundings with great vigilance.
During this process, it even looked out the window, but did not find the "White Paper". Instead, Lumian and Aurora felt the coldness and indifference in its Eyes.
"What is this?" Lumian asked.
Aurora shook her head:
"I don't know, it's like a special kind of spirit."
Lumian immediately made a judgment:
"This doesn't look like good!"
Even through the "White Paper" and the mirror, the Lizard- like creature still made him feel uneasy, and the hairs on his body stood on end.
Aurora glanced at him and warned, "This ' Lizard ' seems to have a certain degree of mental Corruption. Just looking at it from a distance can make people feel uncomfortable, and staring at it for too long might even cause mental problems. Be careful; if the discomfort gets too severe, immediately close your eyes, try Meditation, and look at it again after a while."
"I'm alright for now." Lumian hummed in agreement. "And you, don't you feel unwell?"
Aurora smiled:
"As a ' Mystery Pryer,' I've seen things far more Corruption than this, and my resistance to them is much higher than yours."
"Besides, I do have occasional bouts of madness, so it wouldn't be a big deal if I went a little crazier or did it more frequently."
"I think it's necessary to check your mental state when you said that last sentence," Lumian said, half concerned and half joking.
Aurora chuckled.
That's called self-deprecation.
"Sometimes, it's not something I can simply choose not to look. The special nature of the ' Mystery Pryer eye' can't be completely sealed off; I can only barely prevent it from interfering with my daily life."
As the siblings were talking, the blurry, Lizard- like creature crawled along the walls and floor all the way down to the ground floor of the house at an extremely fast speed.
On the wall directly opposite the main entrance on the first floor hang several animal Skull, from a wolf, a deer, and Boar. The Assistant Parish Priest Michel Galligu, was not a native of Cordu and should have lived directly in the Church, but Guillaume Béné some pretext and he had to rent a room at the Hunter Sabatay's house.
The "Lizard" burrowed into the wolf's Skull, moving in and out of the hole.
Not long after, it was placed inside the Boar's Skull and continued doing the same thing.
Once it emerged from the deer's Paleness Skull, the "Lizard" scrambled towards the outside at several times the speed of a horse, while the "White Paper" silently floated in the night sky, following it.
The "Lizard" crawled all the way out of the village and finally arrived at the Square.
It bypassed the Church, arrived at the Cemetery, and plunged into a Tomb.
About ten seconds later, it emerged and went into another grave with a tombstone.
And so, the strange, Lizard- like creature wandered through different Tomb, and Lumian could even imagine it moving in and out of different human skulls inside Coffin.
The sight sent shivers down Lumian's spine, raising tiny goosebumps. He couldn't help but ask, "What's this guy doing?"
I can't understand it!
Aurora slowly shook her head:
"This is an area where my knowledge is lacking."
After "strolling" through the Cemetery, the Lizard -like transparent creature returned the way it came and entered the room of Father Michel Galligu of the Assistant Parish Priest.
With a couple of quick movements, it burrowed into Michel's mouth and disappeared.
After twenty or thirty seconds, Michel Galligan opened her eyes, sat up, and gulped down water from the cup on the bedside table, looking extremely thirsty.
He put down the cup, wiped his mouth, and lay down to continue sleeping.
Aurora turned her head and looked at Lumian, saying, "So, he does seem to have some problems, doesn't he?"
"This isn't just a small problem, it's a huge problem!" Lumian didn't hide his emotions from his Older Sister. "Pierre Berri, the herdsman; the parish Parish Priest, the key figure in the time Loop; Madame Pualis, who makes men give birth; Naroka, who went to the Otherworld; the Owl who has lived for countless years; and the Assistant Parish Priest with a ' Lizard ' living inside him—aren't there too many outstanding talents in Cordou Village?"
In the previous Loop, he had complained that the three official investigators, Ryan, Lya, and Valentine, hadn't done much. Now, thinking about it, how could he blame them? The anomaly in Cordou Village was truly extraordinary!
They may have done something, but the outcome is likely to be bad.
Aurora glanced at her brother and said, half-reminding and half-teasing, "You haven't mentioned the most outstanding talent yet."
"The only person in the entire village who can retain memories within Loop, possessing a unique Dream Ruins."
"..." Lumian was speechless for a moment, only feeling a headache coming on.
Aurora turned her head and looked at the Mirror on the table. After a moment of consideration, she said, "There shouldn't be any other Change here with the Assistant Parish Priest. Although I could take a closer look at his ' Astral Body ' state, that would likely be quite dangerous."
"It's not a big deal if I get into trouble because of this; I'll just be a living ' Warlock ' again in the next Loop. But we're still lacking too much intelligence. It's better to wait until we've gathered enough information before conducting further investigations, so as not to cause the Loop to Reboot prematurely and waste time on explanations and communication."
Lumian had no objection; this was also his opinion.
Aurora then said, "I plan to have ' White Paper ' observe the Parish Priest now."
"..." Lumian paused for a second, "Didn't we just say we wouldn't probe too deeply or detonate the anomaly prematurely?"
The Parish Priest is the most crucial of all, the most critical of all the problems. Are we just going to brute force our way Past this?
Aurora glanced at him with a smile:
"I'm certain that there won't be any problems if I do this."
Seeing Lumian's confusion and worry, she explained in detail, "You yourself said that on April 1st in the previous Loop, you overheard the Parish Priest and Pons Béné's private conversation. At that time, the Parish Priest said that he was still an Ordinary Person, but if I, as Beyonder, dealt with him, he would have a way to deal with me."
"Considering the context, and considering that deceiving an Ordinary Person at that time would be pointless and would only expose one's abnormality, I tend to believe that before April 1st, the Parish Priest was indeed just an ordinary human being who had not yet acquired Extraordinary Ability. Today is March 29th, and it's not even midnight yet, so spying on him shouldn't cause any problems."
"That's true." Lumian felt relieved.
Aurora continued, "From the conversation between the Parish Priest and Pons Béné, we can deduce that he may have already mastered a method to quickly acquire Extraordinary Ability by April 1st. If he senses something is wrong, he can immediately become an ' Beyonder '. Of course, perhaps he can only use some item and think he can deal with me."
"Given the strength displayed by our Parish Priest during the Lent Festival celebration, which is completely unlike that of Sequence 9, I suspect he has taken the path outside the Divine Pathway mentioned by That One mysterious Lady, that is, praying to some being in hopes of receiving Gift. Otherwise, there wouldn't be such a significant Change in strength in just a few days, and there wouldn't be any obvious signs of Loss of Control."
Lumian, then suddenly remembered something:
"In that Loop, on the morning of Lent Festival, I had just become a ' Hunter ' and encountered Pons Béné. I wanted to beat him up to practice, but he ran away as if he knew in advance that I had become Beyonder.
"Perhaps he also received some kind of Gift, the ability to sense danger..."
As he spoke, Lumian added another crucial point:
"Around April 3rd, during Naroka's funeral, I secretly saw Pons Béné enter her house from a short distance away."
"If Pons Béné has been granted Gift, given the keenness he displayed on the morning of Lent Festival, he shouldn't have failed to notice my spying, a Ordinary Person."
Aurora nodded:
"In other words, it's very likely that the Parish Priest and his group became Beyonder between Naroka's funeral and Lent Festival."
That is, from the afternoon of April 3rd to the early morning of April 5th.
"Of course, the possibility of receiving the Gift in batches cannot be ruled out," Aurora added.
After this discussion, the situation became clearer, and Lumian suddenly slapped his forehead, exclaiming, "Hey!"
"What's wrong?" Aurora asked, puzzled.
Lumian sincerely praised, "I really should have discussed these things with you sooner; your analytical skills are far superior to mine!"
Aurora chuckled:
"You're always finding new ways to praise me. The truth is, you lack experience and knowledge, which is why you didn't think of it immediately. Take your time, and you'll eventually discover these details."
She verbally criticized her brother's praise, but her expression clearly showed she was pleased.
Receiving Aurora's will, the "White Paper" Past towards the Béné's house.
Of all the Cordou Village, apart from the Church and the Administrator's residence converted from Castle, the Béné family's house was the tallest and most luxurious.
It was a gray-blue three-story house with a chimney standing tall on top.
As the head of the Béné family, Parish Priest Guillaume lived in the east-facing room on the top floor. At this moment, the dark gray curtains were tightly closed, and the master of the house seemed to be asleep.
This was no challenge for the "White Paper"; it pierced through the wall and blended into the darkness of the corner.
Inside the room, Guillaume Béné, who had just finished his affair with Madame Pualis, had already returned home. He had changed into a light blue silk Pajamas and pajamas and was sitting in Armchair, staring quietly, almost blankly, at the curtains in front of the window.
Aurora's eyes deepened, revealing Guillaume Béné's aura.
The variety of colors—red, green, purple, and blue—made Lumian dizzy.
Recalling the knowledge his Older Sister had taught him, he tried to discern the truth and found that, apart from having a somewhat excessive libido, the Parish Priest was in relatively good health.
"What is he pondering? Which mistress is he meeting tomorrow?" Although the Parish Priest couldn't hear him, Lumian still made a sarcastic remark.
Just then, Guillaume Béné stood up, slammed his fist into the air in front of him, and said angrily, "It's all your fault!"
