A simple commission
My reputation has spread so quickly? Even if the rumors of my hunting down Bourman arrived in Santa Port two days before the "Flying Bird," the Commissioner would still need time to confirm where I live and whether it's true or false... Lumian thought it would be a few more days before someone came to Commission him, so he didn't think of the lady in the normal context at all.
He stood up and said to Lugano, "Please let That One lady in."
After speaking, Lumian bent down and picked up the golden straw hat that was placed on the small round table, trying to make Louis Berri's image more distinctive and easier to remember.
Not long after, Lugano led a Women in her thirties away.
She wore a long, white Long Dress with a loose hem, embroidered with red flowers, which perfectly showcased the beauty of her figure.
Compared to the Dalege Region in the mountains and books, the Women of Santa Port prefer brighter and more flamboyant clothing, which appears very romantic and free, reflecting the traditional aesthetic of the Kingdom of Feynapotter.
That One lady, with her long brown hair styled in an updo and a healthy complexion, was without any maids. Her azure Eyes, framed by thick eyelashes, were fixed on Lumian was holding a golden straw hat.
Her rosy lips moved as she uttered a string of Vocabulary, but Lumian could only make out the name "Louis Berri" by its approximate pronunciation.
Lugano quickly got to work and began translating:
"The lady said, 'Dear Mr. Louis Berri, I have heard about your hunt for the ' Devil Warlock.' I wonder if you would be willing to help my family with a problem.'"
Lumian's gaze swept over the multi-jeweled beaded necklace on That One lady's wrist, then returned to her beautiful, mature face:
What is your name?
"Giorgia," That One lady replied after Lugano translated.
Lumian repeated the pronunciation of the other person's name and asked with a smile, "Mrs. Giorgia, what would you like to Commission?"
After listening to Lugano's translation, Giorgia said in a slightly accented Highland Language, "An evil creature has appeared in my home, and I would like to ask for your help to get rid of it."
Lumian understood several Vocabulary and roughly guessed Giorgia's request, but he remained calm and looked at Lugano, waiting for him to translate.
After Lugano repeated Giorgia's words in Intis language, Lumian suddenly laughed and said, "I'm sorry, I forgot to ask you, beautiful lady, to sit down."
"The great adventurer Gehrman Luo Sect us that politeness is important."
Lumian pointed to the sofa area in the living room, sat down on the Long Sofa, raised his right hand, and tried to pat Ludwig's head, who was eating snacks there, in a Godfather -like manner.
Ludwig quickly moved aside to avoid this childish behavior.
Seeing Giorgia sit down on the Armchair, Lumian gently shook his golden straw hat and leaned forward slightly, saying, "Since it's an evil creature, why not just ask the Clergy of the ' Earth Mother ' Church to deal with it?"
Giorgia looked at Lugano beside her and listened attentively to his retelling.
She pursed her slightly full lips and replied in the Highland Language, "We don't want the Church to know about this; it would damage our family's reputation."
So that's why they came to Commission me, a stranger who'll be leaving after witnessing the Sea-Praying Ritual? And only after confirming my ability to deal with that evil creature... Lumian turned his gaze away from Lugano, thought for a moment, and said, "Tell me more about the evil creature."
After a few seconds, Giorgia carefully chose her words and said, "It's like a tailless Lizard that attacks everyone in the house. It killed several maids and servants and ate their blood and flesh."
"Our family's bodyguards shot at it and wounded it, but couldn't kill it because it had very tough scales. We could only drive it into the Basement and lock it up inside."
"We originally thought it would slowly starve and die of thirst, but who knew that almost two weeks Past, it's still alive and even tried to break down the Basement door."
It doesn't sound very dangerous; ordinary guns could easily repel it... They didn't explain why the giant Lizard appeared, which seems to be why they didn't want to involve the "Earth Mother" Church and the local government... Lumian thoughtfully compared the few Vocabulary he understood with Lugano's translation, confirming that the guide hadn't added or removed anything.
He then asked in a relaxed manner, "Were there any bodyguards killed or injured?"
After being relayed by a translator, Giorgia slowly shook her head:
"No deaths, two injuries, but nothing serious. Hmm, that Monster makes the whole room feel like it's being dragged into the deep sea, hindering normal operations."
It was like being dragged into the deep sea... It did indeed have some extraordinary abilities, but it seemed rather weak... The deep sea... Lumian suddenly became interested and asked for details seriously.
After a brief exchange, Giorgia said in a gentle voice, "Mr. Louis Berri, we are willing to pay 15,000 Riso for this, but you need to promise not to publicize this matter."
15,000 Gold Riso? According to your description, that Monster is worth at most 5,000 Gold Riso, the remaining 10,000 is hush money, right? Lumian smiled and said in broken Highland Language, "No problem."
Then, as he stood up, he said in Intis language, "I want to see the situation in person."
Giorgia stood up and listened to Lugano's translation.
She wasn't surprised at all by Louis Berri's request—she had dealt with many adventurers and Bounty Hunter and knew that observing the scene, understanding the target, and making thorough preparations were among the keys to success for the elite in this line of work, enabling them to solve problems and survive.
"Now?" Giorgia asked, as if confirming.
Lumian understood the Vocabulary and replied in the same Highland Language:
"Now."
He immediately put on his Golden-Yellow Straw Hat and, as he walked toward the door, added in Intis language, "Also, prepare a sumptuous dinner for me, my Godson, and my translator."
After listening to the translation, Giorgia paused for a moment.
As she watched Lumian's retreating figure, she felt that this adventurer seemed somewhat different from those she had known before.
Santa Port, Saint Lana Street.
Located in the northeast of the city, this area features rows of multi-story Villa with their own gardens, Lawn, and stables.
Giorgia's house is at number 21 on this street. The five-story Villa has a brownish-red exterior and features Statues of many Angel and saints from the Church the Earth Mother, as well as symbols representing waves and fishing.
Wearing Golden-Yellow Straw Hat, Lumian led Ludwig, who was carrying a red satchel, into the hall of the Villa, following Giorgia and her maids and servants.
This is also a large dance floor, with no overhead covering, leading directly to the Dome.
As soon as Lumian entered, he felt a series of gazes being secretly directed at him from behind the circular railings on the second, Third Floor, Fourth Floor, and fifth floors.
As expected, it's a family gathering; there are quite a few people... Lumian didn't look up, but smiled and thought to herself.
None of the spying people showed up. Giorgia called two legally armed bodyguards, who led Lumian and the others down the stairs to the Second Layer Basement level.
The large Iron-Black gate here was tightly shut.
Seemingly sensing someone approaching, the iron gate banged loudly, as if being pounded on by some powerful creature.
"It's inside." Giorgia raised her right hand with a complicated expression, pointing to the iron door.
Lumian understood the sentence perfectly without Lugano needing to translate.
He adjusted his golden straw hat and said in a commanding tone, "Take my Godson to the living room for dessert."
As he spoke, he walked towards the underground iron gate without turning his head.
After hearing Lugano's account, Giorgia quickly led Ludwig back to the ground with her maid. One of the bodyguards, with a serious expression, hurried after Lumian and handed him a silver-black Key.
Immediately afterwards, the two bodyguards drew their Pistol, one crouching and the other standing, simultaneously aiming at the iron gate to prevent the Monster from escaping.
Lumian slowly inserted the Key into the lock and clicked it open.
He then tossed the Key aside and pushed the iron gate open behind him with one hand.
In an instant, the Monster's figure came into his Eyes:
It was a Humanoid Lizard, its body covered with numerous shiny, sturdy scales, while the areas not covered by scales revealed slippery, Evil snake-like skin.
The Monster's eyes were both vertical, with a very pale, almost transparent color, and its mouth contained many sharp teeth that formed Whirlpool.
Almost simultaneously, Lumian felt the air around him become quite heavy, as if shackles were binding him, clearly affecting his normal movements.
The dampness made him feel as if he had dived into the deep sea and was under pressure from all sides.
The Humanoid Lizard lunged forward, and Lumian's body, as if drawn by Whirlpool, moved towards the enemy.
But a clear smile remained on his lips as he calmly tried to turn his body to the side.
Suddenly, it was as if a hidden power within him erupted, allowing him to break free from the constraints of the air.
Lumian quickly turned his body slightly to the side and swung his right fist upwards.
Suddenly, crimson Flames, Reddish White, ignited from his fist and then spread to his forearm, as if dragging out a dazzling fire serpent.
Bang!
The punch Heavy Blow on the Humanoid Lizard's chest and abdomen, causing the flames to compress rapidly.
Boom!
The Humanoid Lizard was sent flying backward, its shimmering scales flying off its chest and abdomen, leaving a huge gash.
Lumian didn't give chase. He put one hand in his pocket, changed his right fist to a palm, and gently pushed forward.
Clusters of Reddish-White Fireball condensed in front of him, whistling as they burrowed into the wound on the Humanoid Lizard's chest and abdomen.
Rumble!
The Monster was instantly torn to pieces, its flesh and blood scattered all over the ground.
Lumian looked for a few seconds, adjusted his golden straw hat, turned around, and walked towards the stairs leading to the ground.
The two armed bodyguards remained in their original positions, still bewildered and unsure of what had happened.
Lumian didn't "wake them up" and continued climbing the stairs step by step.
Giorgia, who was on the ground, heard the explosion and left the small living room with Lugano, heading towards the stairwell, where they saw Lumian coming up.
"Have you confirmed the situation?" the lady asked with concern.
Lumian smiled and said, "It's resolved."
