Common ground
On the street marked "Zilikaske" in Dutanian, Lumian led Camus and other members of the Patrol Team into Apartment constructed of dark stone and brown trees.
As soon as he pushed open the door to Bram's room, Camus and the others smelled the acrid smell of burning and blood floating quietly in the air.
They then saw shattered body parts scattered all over the ground, bloodstains and bits of flesh on the walls, and Blood-Colored handprints and burn marks everywhere.
Camus's gaze froze, as if he were back at the scene of the serial murders.
And that's even more destructive.
Camus turned his head and stared at Lumian for two seconds. Although he already knew the answer, he still asked habitually, "Where is that person's Corpse?"
Lumian pointed to the pieces of corpse and bits of flesh, and replied with a smile, "These are all."
Camus paused for a moment, then gestured to his two astonished teammates beside him to inspect the scene.
He has Promise them a share of the reward, to serve as witnesses to his "achievements".
Camus did not Alone because he feared it was a trap set by Louis Berri, an assassination attempt by Concealment organizations such as the "Rose School" against the Patrol Team members.
Being in the Southern Continent, we must be vigilant!
Camus then walked to the cupboard and looked at the lips soaking in preservatives, his mind replaying the horrific state of the victims.
After a brief silence, he heard Louis Berri say calmly, "Bram is a member of the Andrealphus family, Demon Family. He was sent by the ' Rose School ' to Port Pylos to gather intelligence and, incidentally, to complete the 'serial murder case.' His uncle, Dewahuo, is in charge of contacting him, but they don't actually meet. They simply leave the information they obtain in the form of documents in the Study of that empty house at No. 17 Rue d’Alègre..."
Camus and the others were initially taken aback, then a strong sense of doubt arose within them.
How did Louis Berri know so much?
Camus couldn't help but look again at the scattered body parts, the bloodstains on the walls, the Blood-Colored handprints on the ground, and the various charred marks.
Finally, his gaze settled on Lumian's face.
Lumian's lips curled up slightly, returning a warm smile.
Camus and his two companions exchanged glances, not bothering to ask Louis Berri whether he obtained the information through "Spiritism" or Torture, or whether he had known Bram's purpose from the beginning and that he was targeting the serial killer not because the man was committing crimes.
"This intelligence is very important." Camus nodded slightly, pointing to the visibly damaged six-barreled machine gun in the room. "Bram's weapons need to be left to us."
"No problem," Lumian replied nonchalantly.
As an "Pyromaniac," he didn't have much need for firearms; the power of a barrage of Fireball was far greater than the sweeping fire of a six-barreled machine gun, only the speed wasn't as fast.
Next to Resurrection Square, on Kania Street, on the second floor of the four-story building where the Patrol Team located.
Camus placed the files and related items, which were contained in several Cowhide envelopes, on the table in front of Lumian, repeatedly instructing him. "You can only look at and Recording, you cannot take them away, and you cannot damage them."
Lumian nodded slightly, picked up one of the file folders, pulled on the thread, wrapped it around a few times, and opened it.
He didn't rush to see what items were there; instead, he pulled out the file and began to read it carefully.
This thick file meticulously Recording the identities, origins, possible Pathway death, locations of death, and circumstances at the Sequence of the deaths of the seven victims, as well as the various speculations and investigations conducted by the Patrol Team.
It was clear that while there were still victims appearing, the Patrol Team investigated very diligently, with different actions every day. However, in the later stages, when the serial killings seemed to have ended and there were no new leads, they began to slack off, no longer frequently studying the case or conducting large-scale interviews. After six months, the investigation completely stalled, and the case file came to an end.
In the final report, the Deputy Team Leader of the Patrol Team in charge of the case summarized. "This is a typical serial murder case caused by the ' Demon ' Pathway. Although ' Serial Killer ' rarely kill only seven people, because more victims are needed to better please the corresponding Demon and satisfy the needs of the Ritual, the victims this time were all Beyonder, including many of the Mid-Sequence. Even if only seven people died, they would still be more favored by the Demon and more able to please them than fourteen or even twenty-one Ordinary Person."
"The biggest problem with this Mysticism case is that, apart from all being Beyonder, there is nothing in common among the seven victims, which is quite different from previous serial murder cases."
"Our speculation is that all seven victims were Beyonder, active in West Balam, and likely had all committed murder to some extent in the past, which could be considered a form of depravity..."
Lumian carefully examined the text and agreed with the conjecture that in the Ritual to please the Demon, seven Beyonder were superior to fourteen Ordinary Person.
This was something he already knew; after all, Ordinary Person were only the third best Sacrifice, and creatures with Beyonder Characteristic were the second best.
Similar situations are also seen in certain "Acting" Acting, especially those that require feedback, just as Lumian is more likely to digest the Potion than to uncover the Ordinary Person of an Angel.
After gaining a general understanding of the entire serial murder case, Lumian turned around and sorted through the information on the seven Beyonder. Combining Anthony's psychological profile of "Hisoka", Franca's summary of the character's prototype and her speculations about the Acting the role, she began to look for possible hidden commonalities.
The seven Beyonder included men and women. Some were subordinates of General Quilariel, some were followers of the "Death God Reaper" who lived in seclusion in Port Pylos, some were adventurers from abroad, some were spies left in Matani Province by the Republic of Intis, some were peripheral members of the "Rose School," and some were local Clergy of the Church of the "God of Steam and Machinery."
In terms of identity and background, they really have nothing in common.
But for Lumian, who reads with subjective conjecture, some details will present more facets:
All seven victims were young. The oldest, though in That One early thirties, was widely praised by those around him for his exceptional combat talent and sharp mind, and was destined to become a renowned adventurer.
"The target is a young, promising, and already mature Beyonder? Even if they aren't too young, they should have a considerable reputation, strong abilities, and unlimited potential..." Lumian muttered to himself, having a general grasp of the selection criteria for "Hisoka".
If Franca were there, she would definitely say that this is consistent with the behavior of the original character, that the guy is a very dedicated Acting and a passionate fan.
However, Lumian believes that "Hisoka" will only try to get as close to the original character as possible when given a choice, and will not affect his true purpose in order to Acting. Sometimes, he may even use this Acting to mislead others. The reason Lumian thinks this is because "Madwoman"'s evaluation of "Hisoka" is not pure enough.
"Judging from the selection criteria, Louis Berri fits ' Hisoka's' murderous tendencies perfectly..." Lumian clicked his tongue inwardly and took out case-related items from the other document bags.
The vast majority of these items were the victims' belongings; the only exceptions were seven pieces of thin Tin Foil covered in a dark brown substance.
According to the case file, these were packages of locally produced chocolate, left at each crime scene. It is suspected that the murderer would peel off the thin Tin Foil and eat a piece of chocolate before starting the Corpse.
Because the serial killer used Gloves hands to remove the chocolate and put it in his mouth, there were no traces left on the thin Tin Foil. This type of simply packaged chocolate is quite common in Matani Province, a state with many cocoa Plantation, and is sold in many shops, making it impossible to track the target based on this information.
Lumian examined the thin sheets of tin Tin Foil repeatedly for a while, then looked up and smiled at Camus, who was watching him.
"Can I take two or three tickets?"
Camus tousled brown hair, frowned slightly.
"If you want to ' Divination ' or use other extraordinary methods, you can do so here."
"Just two won't affect your future investigation," Lumian said Temptation. "If you agree to help, I'll pay you extra, for example, a very useful summoning Incantation for Spirit World Creature."
Camus remained silent for a long while before saying, "Deal."
A little over fifteen minutes later, Camus, who had specially taken Lumian outside to buy something resembling chocolate, stared blankly as a rabbit-shaped Spirit World Creature rapidly copied the documents with a fountain Fountain Pen.
After nearly a minute, Camus looked at Lumian, who was sitting leisurely beside him, peeling off a thin Tin Foil and popping a piece of dark brown chocolate into his mouth, and asked in a deep voice, "Is this the very useful Spirit World Creature?"
"Yes, it's one of the ' Knowledge Rabbit,' and it can help you escape from the tedious work of copying," Lumian replied with a smile, chewing on a piece of rich chocolate.
What would I do with such a copying tool? Camus roared inwardly, but the thought of the bounty for the serial killer and the gruesome scene of Bram's death brought him back to his senses.
Lumian added with a smile, "When you don't want others to know which words you wrote, you can summon the ' Knowledge Rabbit ' for help."
"Moreover, this is a Spirit World Creature that can grow. It will develop in the direction of whatever knowledge you give it. Of course, you'd better be able to find a way to form Contract with Spirit World Creature, otherwise, the ' Knowledge Rabbit ' you summon each time will most likely not be the same one, making it impossible to train it."
"Growth-related..." Camus repeated the Vocabulary, his expression gradually softening.
Back at the Aurela Hotel, Lumian took the two old, thin Tin Foil out of his pocket and handed one to Ludwig.
"Try it," he said with a smile.
