Their respective tasks
Two days later, in a secluded spot on the Dock of Banaam Harbor.
Jenna, dressed in a black outfit that resembled both a dress and a robe, gazed into the distance at the azure ocean shrouded in a thin mist.
Her mission was to monitor the Dock and be the first to spot the flagship of the "Deep Sea Admiral," the "Newins."
Of course, this was just one direction she needed to pay attention to. The most crucial thing was to make sure that no Pirate King's fleet had arrived at Banaam Harbor before the "Newins" arrived. If such a thing happened, she would have to inform Lumian immediately so that the unknown adventurer would disappear.
Jenna paced back and forth, sometimes finding a place to sit down, patiently waiting for her target to arrive.
Suddenly, she saw a huge creature pushing against the current and rising from beneath the sea in the distance.
The enormous object was entirely metallic black, with a large amount of seawater sliding off its surface. Its shape resembled an oval Spindle that had expanded considerably towards the sky, with a thin, curved metal pipe extending from its top, like the elongated eye of a snail.
The next second, the metal pipe bent and retracted, and the entire upper part of the behemoth split open, revealing a wide deck, a large number of cannons, hundreds of pirates, and masts and sails that were raised.
Jenna was somewhat mesmerized by what she saw. Although Lumian had told her how "The Bonebreaker" Basil's "Black Octopus" dived, surfaced, and deployed, nothing was as shocking as seeing it with her own eyes.
It possesses a striking mechanical beauty!
Moreover, that behemoth was no smaller than the latest Steam ocean-going vessels and far surpassed traditional sailing pirate ships.
Without needing further confirmation, Jenna knew that this was the Newins Deep Sea Admiral, the flagship of Admiral Hal Constantine.
At the same time, she initially determined that the "Newins" had come to Banaam Harbor alone, without the "Black Octopus" accompanying it.
Since Vice-Admiral of Dusk Ivan Bratov became the King of Dusk, the other ships in the Deep Sea Admiral fleet have rarely operated with the flagship, because the Newins and Black Octopus can submerge and sail secretly, which other ships cannot do. Forcibly following them would only expose Hal Constantine's whereabouts.
This is one of the reasons why Franca set her sights on this "Deep Sea Admiral".
"Such a giant alchemical machine is truly beautiful..." Jenna gazed at the "Newins" and sighed inwardly.
Her father was a worker, and his aesthetic appreciation of machinery profoundly influenced her and her brother Julian.
In addition, Trier is full of all sorts of machines, some useful and some strange. Her brother Julian almost abandoned his faith in the "Eternal Blazing Sun" when he was young and went to the Church of the "God of Steam and Machinery".
Jenna withdrew her gaze and, as she walked out of the Dock, a hint of worry crossed her mind as she thought of something:
Her brother Julian will be finishing his exchange program and returning to Trier in a little over a month, but she doesn't want him to continue living in this metropolis built on a "Volcano." She wants Julian to settle in a place with stronger official power but not as dangerous as Trier. Leucer Harbor, where Julian is currently staying, or a town in Trier District, would be good choices.
Jenna knew she couldn't persuade Julian. On one hand, her brother would worry about her unless she found a reliable person to marry; on the other hand, Julian was born and raised in Trier Trier, where Trier could have more opportunities, so how could he possibly leave his hometown?
"We need to think of a way, a roundabout 'arrangement'. Hmm, a temporary one is easier to persuade. Leaving his hometown permanently is Julian absolutely cannot accept. According to Franca, we can do it for three years first, and then another three years after that..." Jenna didn't consider having Anthony directly "hypnotize" Julian.
Just then, two drunken pirates walked into the Dock and saw Jenna wearing Hood and a dress that resembled both a skirt and a robe.
They scanned her up and down for a few seconds, exchanged glances, and then stepped in front of Jenna.
"Woman, name your price."
"If you don't want to name a price, we'll just offer whatever we think is fair!"
As the two pirates exchanged words, they reached out their hands, attempting to grab Jenna.
In Banaam Harbor, such things were not uncommon. Local Women residents either went directly to Bar and other places with protectors to work as Streetwalker, or rarely went out to avoid being targeted by pirates. In the latter case, the best outcome was to wait for the Sheriff and receive a small amount of compensation, while the worst outcome was to be killed on the spot by pirates who did not want to pay a penny, thrown into the sea, or kidnapped to a ship and sold elsewhere.
Before the two pirates could even touch Jenna's arms and shoulders, they suddenly found themselves engulfed in black, evil, and silent Flames.
They immediately felt fear and pain, their drunkenness vanished instantly, and they turned and ran away frantically.
They ran while shouting in terror:
"Witch!"
"Witch!"
Jenna sensed a bit of the "Witch's " Potion's effects from the two pirates' associations, pain, and fear. Then, she silently watched them gradually weaken as the Black Flame Burning, until they collapsed to the ground, convulsing and dying.
Jenna was immediately caught in a dilemma:
Should I maintain my mysterious and evil "Witch" image, or follow my instincts and steal the money from the two dead pirates...?
Inside a Bar in Banaam Harbor.
Anthony sat on Bar Stool, a beer in his hand, listening to the pirate across from him boasting with great enthusiasm.
His task for the next two days was to blend in with the pirates, monitor and guide the direction of "public opinion".
Although Lumian had done a lot of analysis, he was still not entirely sure how the pirate group would react. After all, human nature is unpredictable, and it was perfectly normal for some eccentric individuals to emerge from among so many pirates.
When a "Conspirer" devises a scheme, they don't say that something is bound to happen, or that it will happen 100%. That's the ability of "Seer," "Prophet," and "Spectator" to navigate through the Pathway of those in High-Ranking Being. What a "Conspirer" needs to do is prepare additional means to ensure that things develop as they expect, rather than being helpless when a problem arises that deviates from the original plan.
So he had Anthony frequent the pirates' favorite Bar, make as many friends as possible, and thus understand how the pirates reacted to the unknown adventurer Provocation the entire group. He could then identify dissenting voices that might have a significant impact, and then use his "Hypnotist" abilities to subtly guide and change the attitudes of a few influential pirates, ensuring that the "public opinion" Franca spoke of was always the kind Lumian wanted.
This large-scale, covert guidance allowed Anthony to absorb a significant portion of his "Hypnotist" Potion.
This was because it was both a form of "hypnosis" and seemed to have indirectly guided the entire pirate community in Banaam Harbor.
Glug, glug, the pirate next to Anthony took a big gulp of golden beer and looked at his new friend with admiration.
In his view, this new friend was not only very approachable, but also the kind of person among the pirates who was good at listening and would not always interrupt others when they were showing off or sharing their own experiences.
"By the Storm above, pirates like this are so rare! I can finally recount my experience in my heart!" Stilwell, the pirate who had just put down his beer mug, sincerely praised the Deity in his heart as he asked Anthony, "Interested in joining our fleet?"
Anthony smiled and replied, "I don't think I'm good enough to be one of you."
"Ha ha." Pirate Stilwell laughed triumphantly.
Anthony glanced around, then deliberately lowered his voice and asked, "Have you heard about that unknown adventurer?"
Stilwell's smile vanished instantly.
"I've heard that there are countless pirate captains here, yet not a single one of them has gone to teach that adventurer a lesson!"
"What are they waiting for? This is a chance to make their names even more famous, and maybe even become the tenth Pirate Admiral!"
In his angry outburst, Stilwell made no mention of his own ability to challenge the arrogant adventurer.
Suddenly, he heard a commotion erupt from somewhere in the Bar lobby.
"What happened?" Stilwell picked up his beer glass and mumbled as he walked toward the table.
After a while, he returned to the bar and excitedly told Anthony, "' Deep Sea Admiral ' has arrived in Barnamore!"
"The ' Deep Sea Admiral ' is here?" Anthony, his face beaming with surprise.
"Yeah, someone taught that bastard a lesson!" Stilwell sat back down on the Bar Stool and continued his long-winded explanation. "That was Pirate Admiral, you know! Every Pirate Admiral earned their title through real battles, not just bragging. They could tie all the adventurers here together and wipe them out!"
After Stilwell finished speaking, Anthony chimed in, "I'm already looking forward to it."
Stilwell picked up his beer glass again and took a sip.
He boasted, "Actually, I'd been wondering before if it would be the ' Deep Sea Admiral ' who would end the shame of those so-called famous Great Pirate."
"Why do you say that?" Anthony asked curiously.
Stilwell glanced at him:
"You do not know?"
Anthony smiled and explained, "Although I am Intis, our Boss spends most of his time intercepting ships in the Berserk Sea and rarely ventures into the Depths of the Sea of Fog."
"I see." Stilwell indicated his understanding, lowering his voice, "We all suspect that the ' Deep Sea Admiral ' comes to Banaam Harbor every year to go to that legendary treasure."
"Treasure? ' The Lost Newins '?" Anthony acted like a real pirate.
"The Lost Newins" is one of the six most famous treasure legends in the Five Seas. It is said to be located at the bottom of a certain Sea Area of Sea of Fog. It is said that there was once a Civilization belonging to intelligent beings, but it seems to have been destroyed long ago. Strange objects often appear in the corresponding Sea Area, all of which point to Newins from ancient times.
"Yes." Stilwell nodded emphatically. "Think about it, the flagship of the ' Deep Sea Admiral ' was found in some ruins and named ' Newins.' Anyone would suspect that the ruins are the ' Lost Newins '! Moreover, the Sea Area where the legendary Newins sank is not far from here."
