Ai Li frowned slightly.
"Was I stupid before?"
Xu Le thought about it. As far as Ai Li's intelligence went, she seemed to have always been outstanding...
Perhaps limitations in her perspective and knowledge kept Ai Li from responding precisely to matters of the mystical, but her judgment of ordinary things was usually extremely sharp.

She drove slowly, almost as though she were taking Xu Le out for a leisurely drive. A girl taking a guy out for a drive was pretty absurd, but this was not the first time for Ai Li and Xu Le.
After all, she had often driven Xu Le home before.
Xu Le kept his chin propped in his hand, his arm resting on the window as he thought. In the past, Ai Li probably would not have disturbed him.
But tonight's events still prompted her to speak.
"I agree with Councilor Moen. I keep feeling you have some other goal, Xu Le."
Xu Le came back to his senses, knowing she meant his earlier proposal to promote free energy for everyone. He had never really had anyone to discuss his thoughts and proposed policies with.
