When he emerged from the secluded chamber, Allen was leaning against the wall, resting with his eyes closed.
Sensing that Roger had finished his secluded training, he immediately opened his eyes. "Brother, you cultivate way too fast! You reached Midgod in such a short time. That's incredible!"
"Haha, I just got lucky."
He had been stuck at that bottleneck for almost ten years. Had the Jade Disc Fragment not undergone a slight qualitative change that greatly enhanced his comprehension, there was no telling how much longer Roger would have remained stuck.
To be honest, Roger wasn't very satisfied with his previous cultivation speed.
"You're too modest, brother," Allen said with a smile. "Now you're one of the strongest people within several million miles. Hehe."
"..."
Roger really couldn't argue with Allen's words.
From what he had learned over the years,
at least within the circles he could access, a Midgod truly counted as a powerhouse...
Of course,
Highgods existed too.
But they were almost legendary figures, far beyond the reach of a tribe on the Fire Rhino Tribe's level.
Judging by that, he might really have arrived very early in the timeline-so early that even Highgods were rare.
That
actually made Roger very happy.
It meant he would have a chance to compete for a Sovereign Spark!
According to the original story, the Sovereign Sparks would descend roughly a trillion years after the world's creation.
By then,
Orloff and Wette had both reached Paragon.
But the Netherworld's Sovereign of Death still hadn't reached Paragon even by the time of the original story.
That also meant
if Roger cultivated fast enough to become a Death Paragon before the Sovereign Sparks descended,
his chances of obtaining a Sovereign Spark would be extremely high!
He might even seize that High-level Sovereign Spark and become the new Sovereign of Death!
At that thought,
Roger felt a surge of urgency.
He didn't know how long it had been since the world's creation,
or how much time remained before the Sovereign Sparks descended.
With no other option, Roger could only cultivate with everything he had and use every means available to strengthen himself.
If he missed this opportunity, becoming a Sovereign would be far, far harder.
And most importantly,
in the Coiling Dragon World, anyone who wasn't a Sovereign was ultimately just an ant.
Only by entering the ranks of the Sovereigns-and possessing power on the level of a ruling Sovereign-could he consider himself even remotely safe.
After all, those two monsters, Orloff and Wette, still stood ahead of him.
Orloff went without saying. As the benevolent personality of a Bula, he was obsessed with research and paid little attention to worldly affairs. His evil personality, Augusta, wasn't too much of a problem either, provided Roger didn't go looking for trouble with him.
Wette was a different matter.
Born as the super divine beast Wukun, he had mastered the Edicts of Destruction to the Paragon level early on. Later, he even completed an Overgod Mission and obtained an Attack Overgod Artifact. His achievements in research were also extraordinary, allowing him to develop numerous ultimate techniques.
One could say
that if not for the anomaly that was Orloff, Wette would have been the pinnacle of combat power in the Coiling Dragon World.
It was doubtful whether an ordinary ruling Sovereign could withstand even one of his attacks.
Knowing all this, Roger naturally felt an intense sense of urgency.
Once I reach Highgod, I must go out and explore properly, even visit other planes, and figure out where I am in the timeline.
Roger silently made up his mind.
He certainly couldn't stay forever in a tiny place like the Fire Rhino Tribe.
Thoughts raced through his mind.
Although he had considered a great deal, Roger's soul was stronger than an ordinary Highgod's, so less than a second had passed.
He went into the courtyard with Allen, brought out some fine wine, and drank with him.
The pressure of survival had now eased considerably for both of them, so they deserved to relax a little.
After they had finished two bottles of wine, the other Lowgods living nearby spotted Roger from a distance and eagerly flew over.
They landed in the courtyard, only to find that they couldn't sense Roger's aura.
Colette, the first Lowgod to arrive, immediately realized that Roger had broken through to Midgod!
"Lord Roger, congratulations!" Colette called out respectfully at once.
"Congratulations on your breakthrough, Lord Roger!"
"Congratulations on your breakthrough, Lord Roger!"
The expressions of the other Lowgods arriving after him changed, and they too called out their congratulations.
"Haha, there's no need to stand on ceremony. Just treat me the same as always." Roger smiled and waved a hand. "Come over and have a drink."
"Hehe, how could we refuse an invitation from you, Brother Roger?" Colette exchanged glances with the two Lowgods beside him and replied with a smile.
And so,
as time passed, more and more Lowgods returned, and the crowd celebrating at Roger's place continued to grow.
Finally,
when night fell,
Hagson, who had been busy working outside the tribe, arrived.
"Haha, I heard about Brother Roger's breakthrough before I even got back. What wonderful news!"
Hagson's hearty voice rang out, and everyone present rose to welcome him.
Roger was no exception.
Regardless of their respective strength, Hagson was still the tribe's leader in name, and Roger had to show him some respect in public.
Once he found the right opportunity to reveal his strength, things would naturally be different.
"No need to be so polite, everyone. Stay seated, stay seated."
Hagson descended into the courtyard, his body seeming to blend into the wind. It instantly solidified, and he walked over and casually sat on a stone stool beside Roger.
"I've been leading teams outside with the leaders of the Black Wolf Tribe and the Night Wind Tribe to capture Sanctuary beings, so I couldn't return right away. I hope you won't mind, Brother Roger."
Hagson addressed Roger as soon as he sat down.
"Your business comes first, Brother Hagson. A celebration can wait."
"Haha, thank you for understanding, Brother Roger. A toast to you!" Hagson picked up a wine bottle from the stone table and boldly tore off its top.
"And a toast to you too, Brother Hagson. Thank you for all your hard work over the years."
Roger picked up his own bottle and replied with a smile.
"Haha, it's only what I should do."
After the celebration ended,
and the other Lowgods, including Allen, had all left,
Hagson called Roger over to a secluded spot.
"Brother Roger, these are the Sanctuary Souls I acquired recently."
Hagson handed him an Interspatial Ring. "For some reason, the Black Bat Tribe has also started capturing Sanctuary beings like mad lately. Over the past year, even after doing everything I could, I only managed to get twenty crystal balls."
"Twenty..." Roger accepted the Interspatial Ring. "That really is much less than usual. Thank you for your hard work, Brother Hagson."
"Ah, it's no trouble. How could getting stronger be a hardship? It's just that the Black Bat Tribe remains a threat. Now that you've reached Midgod too, Brother Roger, we can put our plan into motion."
A sharp glint flashed through Hagson's eyes. "How long will you need to fully consolidate your strength, Brother Roger?"
"Give me half a year."
"Half a year... all right!"
Hagson considered it for a moment, then agreed. "Spend these six months getting used to your strength, Brother Roger. I'll go form an alliance with the Black Wolf Tribe and the Night Wind Tribe. Then we'll catch the Black Bat Tribe off guard!"
"All right. Sorry for the trouble, Brother Hagson."
Roger didn't decline.
"By the way, Brother Roger, which aspect did you break through in to reach Midgod this time?" Hagson suddenly asked.
Before you continue
