| Feature | Value |
|---|---|
| Name | Highgod |
| Original Name | 上位神 |
| Classification | Deity cultivation rank 7 |
| Position in Cultivation | Above Midgod; reaching Highgod does not mean fully comprehending a law or edict 7 47 |

Power Progression
Roger’s Death Edict cultivation demonstrates both the requirements for reaching Highgod and the substantial advancement possible afterward. Five-Star Fiend, Six-Star Fiend, Seven-Star Demon, and Asura describe his subsequent strength or comprehension benchmarks, rather than additional Lowgod–Midgod–Highgod ranks 33 34 41.
| Stage / Realm / Level | Chapter | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Lowgod of Death | 4 5 | Mastered the Soul Attack branch and chose External Godhood, creating a Death Divine Clone. |
| Midgod of Death | 14 | Fully comprehended Soul Refining, completing his second branch. His Godhead transformed, divine power became ten times purer, and his soul became ten times stronger. |
| Highgod of Death | 31 | Mastered Soul Space, completing all six first-layer branches. The Laws of Heaven and Earth transformed his Godhead and soul. |
| Five-Star Fiend–equivalent comprehension | 33 | After more than a century, comprehended the fusion of Soul Attack with each of the other five branches. |
| Six-Star Fiend–equivalent comprehension | 34 | Reached this benchmark while continuing to develop the Death Edict around Soul Attack as his core. |
| Seven-Star Demon level | 41 | Reached this level after another transformation of the Jade Disc greatly improved his comprehension. |
| Asura level | 41 | Advanced after another three thousand years of cultivation. |
| Death Paragon | 47 | Fully comprehended the Death Edict. Another descent of the heavenly laws transformed his Godhead and soul and granted Willpower. |
Attaining Highgod
Independent Cultivation
- Death Edict: Charles’s notes state that mastering one first-layer branch produces a Lowgod, two produce a Midgod, and all six produce a Highgod. The branches are Soul Refining, Soul Attack, Soul Defense, Soul Control, Soul Space, and Material 7.
- Elemental laws: Roger works toward Highgod by comprehending all nine Wind profound mysteries or all six Water profound mysteries. Allen’s Earth cultivation likewise requires mastery of six profound mysteries 34 35 43.
- Completion is not fusion: Mastering individual profound mysteries and fusing them are distinct pursuits. Roger deliberately seeks points of compatibility before completing his elemental Highgod breakthroughs 31 34.
- Soul fragments can assist cultivation: Roger gives Allen fragments containing Earth Law comprehension at its limit. Allen must still break through the remaining bottlenecks himself, preserving his status as an independently cultivated Highgod 43 45.
Refining a High Godhead
- Allen’s contracted magical beast reaches Highgod by refining a High Godhead 44.
- Godheads taken from slain Highgods are distributed to loyal subordinates, increasing the Highgod forces of Netherlo City and the Undead Sacred Mountain patrols 45.
- Roger regards Godhead refinement as severely restricting future growth, describing further advancement after refinement as almost impossible 21.
Abilities & Limits
Highgod Divine Power
Highgod power is described as more than ten times purer than Midgod divine power 34.
- Newly advanced Highgods still need to accumulate divine power and consolidate their strength 34 35.
- Roger’s Water Clone absorbs large quantities of water-element Highgod power after its breakthrough before assuming responsibility for guarding Netherlo City 35.
- Access to Highgod power does not provide access to Sovereign’s Might. Roger can sense the latter deeper in the divine-power ocean but cannot draw it directly 34.
Soul Strength and Divine Sense
Soul strength varies substantially within the rank; cultivation resources, racial traits, soul mutation, and Roger’s Jade Disc create major exceptions to ordinary limits 13 31 44.
| Example | Documented Capability |
|---|---|
| Ordinary Highgod | Divine sense covers a radius of approximately 1,000 meters in Roger’s early comparison; a later passage describes the baseline as one li 15 47. |
| Roger immediately after his Death Highgod breakthrough | Divine sense reaches 8,000 meters 31. |
| Roger after further soul strengthening | Consumes more than five hundred Soul Gold Beads and reaches a 10,000-meter radius 31. |
| Bell | As a Highgod soul mutant, possesses a soul naturally ten times stronger than others at his level 44. |
Combat Strength
Highgod is not a uniform measure of combat ability.
- Further comprehension and fusion produce enormous differences between Highgods. Charles considers reaching the rank merely completing the Death Edict’s first “layer” 7.
- Even an ordinary divine beast is described as ten times stronger than others at the same level; a Highgod divine beast is therefore at least comparable to a Five-Star Fiend 45.
- Lower-ranked exceptional beings can threaten ordinary Highgods. Roger believes his Midgod Soul Annihilation Blade might kill one, although he has not yet tested that claim 15.
- The Four Divine Beasts remain Midgods when Roger finds them, but their innate abilities can already kill ordinary Highgods 49.

Historical and Political Significance
In the early Netherworld, Highgods are nearly legendary to tribes such as the Fire Rhino Tribe. Midgods can establish tribes, while Highgods are considered qualified to found cities. Many Highgods instead live as ascetics, tempering themselves through dangerous journeys 16 32.
Roger’s Death Highgod breakthrough enables the founding of Netherlo City. His Water Clone later remains behind as its Highgod guardian while he explores the Netherworld with Mia 32 35.
Highgods become increasingly common as the world develops. Patrols encounter more unfamiliar Highgods, and captured Godheads help expand Netherlo City’s forces. This rising concentration of powerful beings also makes personal Highgod strength important to Allen’s authority as deputy city lord 42 44 45.
