Competition in Jade Tiger City had generally been somewhat tougher than in River City. They had split up this way to give all four brothers a chance to qualify.
They had never expected the competition in River City to suddenly jump to hellish difficulty this year.
Xiao Chubei and Xiao Chuxi had originally hoped to capitalize on the weakness of Jiangcheng City's cultivators. Who knew that after arriving, they would be beaten by one River City cultivator after another, becoming the easy pickings themselves?
They were like two greedy dogs that had run over at the smell of ribs, only to be caught, made into meat broth, and served at the table.
Xiao Chudong and Xiao Zuo, who had gone to Jade Tiger City, had fared well. Supporting each other, the brothers had fought their way through every round and ultimately both secured City Hero spots as independent cultivators.
After they secured their spots, Jade Tiger City had presumably invested in them as well, allowing both brothers to advance in cultivation after the competition. Xiao Chudong was now in the Late Astral Realm, while Xiao Zuo had reached the Peak Astral Realm and was preparing for Dharma Form Condensation.
He simply wasn't fully prepared yet, and the Ascendant Dragon Assembly was about to begin. It looked quite likely that he wouldn't make it in time.
The two young women at the table were Jade Tiger City's other two City Heroes, from its foremost Immortal Sect, the Tiger Island Sect.
The one
