Background / History

Nagiko is a disciple of Venerable Yuezun, a Void Realm Dao Lord of the Azurefall Profound Gate. Although her own master is Yuezun, she seeks to inherit the Yang Earth Great Dao authority held by the aging Venerable Chongwu. This places her in competition with Chongwu’s intended successor, Perfected One Qinghua. Both have mastered projections of Kunyu Ridge, but Nagiko is described as the more talented cultivator of the two 441 580.

Her assignment to River City was connected to the Fox Demon sealed beneath the Fox-Pressing Pagoda. As the seal approached its three-hundred-year mark, she expected the demon’s final resistance to become especially dangerous. Her work there also served her pursuit of Chongwu’s succession 65 441.

Within her sect, Nagiko had a reputation for laziness, impulsiveness, and disinterest in administration. She accepted the River City assignment because of the inheritance opportunity. Concern that she might mishandle broader responsibilities was the reason she received only a satellite-city deputy directorship 498.

Despite that modest title, she possessed the highest cultivation in both the City Seven branch and River City’s Bureau headquarters. Her strength and sect backing gave her influence far beyond her nominal position, including access to powerful reinforcements and training resources unavailable to local cultivators 65 342.

Appearance

  • Appears to be in her thirties, with loose black hair, fair skin, elegant features, and a tall, slender figure 2.
  • Wears a black skirt suit during her first visit to Yue Wen’s office 2.
  • Attends the Treasure Forest auction in a black evening gown 65.
  • Can alter her appearance and figure sufficiently to pass as a corpse puppet, restoring her original form when the disguise is no longer needed 238 242.

Personality

Nagiko combines an aloof public manner with conspicuously informal habits. Yue Wen first finds her occupying his sofa and eating lamb skewers, kidneys, and garlic; she resumes her cool expression only after finishing the food. Among fellow cultivators, her bad temper is well known enough that observers hesitate to openly question her praise of Yue Wen 2 471.

She is fiercely protective of promising juniors, but her support is not indiscriminate. She postpones formally recruiting Yue Wen because she worries that guaranteed admission to a great sect might weaken his drive. Later, she warns him about the dangers of fame, recruitment politics, and personal misconduct 266 451 543.

Her confidence in Yue Wen grows into a willingness to support his unconventional methods. Although initially uncomfortable with sponsor-covered tournament clothing, she accepts his argument and allows the team to retain all sponsorship income. She also recognizes that his influence helps the people around him become stronger 341 488.

Nagiko is competitive and enjoys provoking rivals into wagers. Her bets escalate from valuable treasures to the right to pursue a Great Dao inheritance. That final gamble rests on her trust in Yue Wen’s confidence rather than knowledge of his actual tactics 549 580 581.

Abilities & Skills

Yang Earth Great Dao — Kunyu Ridge

Nagiko’s principal Great Dao projection suppresses supernatural powers and exerts overwhelming pressure 322 330.

  • Spell suppression: Under Kunyu Ridge’s suppression, opposing supernatural arts can be extinguished before taking effect 240 322.
  • Physical restraint: Can flatten groups of cultivators or selectively force intruders to their knees 330 348.
  • Combined assault: Uses suppression to prevent an opponent from countering before following with sword lightning 330.
  • Temporary power transfer: Lends Yue Wen her projection’s power during the confrontation with Fan Baiyan’s group. His low cultivation limits how much he can wield 241.
  • Sound isolation: Effortlessly creates an invisible restriction that prevents others from overhearing a private conversation 272.
  • Limits: Another Dao Realm cultivator can attempt to resist by deploying their own Great Dao projection, as Zhao Shizhe does 330.

Divine Sword Thunder-Controlling Art

Also called the Divine Sword Thunder Command Art, this Azurefall Profound Gate secret art channels heavenly thunder through sword techniques 295 330.

  • Nagiko’s casting blankets half of City Seven beneath oppressive storm clouds while concentrating the lightning on a single target 330.
  • She uses it with Heavenly Ridge after first suppressing Zhao Shizhe with Kunyu Ridge 330.
  • She transmits its visualization directly into Yue Wen’s mind by touching his brow 295.

Incarnations and Doppelgangers

Nagiko commonly remains in seclusion while sending incarnations into the world 2.

  • Hair anchor: Her first visiting incarnation disappears in pale smoke, leaving a strand of black hair behind 2.
  • Jade Doll anchor: A specially refined doll stores substantially more spiritual energy than a hair and briefly supports combat strength approaching her true body’s 71.
  • Remote protection: Assigns a doppelganger to guard Yue Wen, allowing her true body to respond immediately if he is attacked 345.
  • Independent combat: One doppelganger subdues Elder Xu and the Six Pythons of Gray Mountain 348.
  • Limits: Her Jade Doll incarnation fails to detain Wang Miaomiao; their brief clash is not presented as Nagiko’s victory 71.

Seals, Instruction, and Cultivation Knowledge

  • Reproduces the Azure Dragon Seal’s visualization diagram for others to learn, despite being unable to activate the seal herself 367 368.
  • Identifies Zhao Xing’er’s innate martial sacred physique and explains the limits of its anger-driven growth 266.
  • Explains Great Dao resonance and its ability to let coordinated cultivators fight across realms 332.
  • Recognizes Yue Wen’s Three-Eyed Divine Dragon as a unique Supreme Dharma Form blessed by three Great Daos 450.

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Heavenly Ridge — A broad-bladed azure flying sword engraved with mountain reliefs in gold-green immortal metal 330.
  • Jade Doll Incarnation Anchor — Concealed inside a counterfeit Snake Mountain Bronze Cauldron as part of an attempt to trace the Meow-Meow Cult’s lair 71.
  • World-Passing Pearl — Obtained from her sect to take the four City Heroes into the Spell-Derivation Secret Realm for intensive training 453.
  • Flying boat — Used to collect Yue Wen from the East Sea and transport him to the Azurefall Realm 647.
  • Cultivation resources distributed to Yue Wen — Includes the Earth Mother Azure Heart Jade, a share of Treasure Soil, supreme-grade Dharma Form materials, and a Jade Marrow Dragonheart Lotus seed 370 442 444 488.

Relationships

  • Yue Wen — Initially a recruitment target who refuses both Bureau employment and an early registered-disciple offer. She becomes his protector, teacher, and principal source of institutional support. Her plan to make him her first personal disciple is overtaken by his changing sect seniority; after the Xuanmen Patriarch accepts him, she acknowledges him as her granduncle-master 2 266 471 543 612 647.
  • Lan Zhi — Her disciple and a Bureau employee. Nagiko notices Lan Zhi’s growing admiration for Yue Wen and is initially pained by the habits she learns from him 341 350 561.
  • Fang Qingcang — Her disciple; accompanies Lan Zhi behind Nagiko while she watches the tournament 481.
  • Venerable Yuezun — Her master and a powerful source of sect backing 441.
  • Venerable Chongwu — The Yang Earth Dao Lord whose authority she hopes to inherit. He allows her and Qinghua to compete for succession 441 580.
  • Perfected One Qinghua — Senior sect brother and succession rival. Their rivalry extends to disciples, tournament results, and increasingly valuable wagers 543 549 580.
  • Perfected One Tongguang — Fellow disciple of Yuezun and operational partner; joins Nagiko in posing as Yue Wen’s corpse puppet 238 241 498.
  • Perfected One Feiguang — Senior sister who assists the hunt for the surviving Fox Demon Lady through divination 498.
  • Shi Miaozhen — Feiguang’s disciple and Nagiko’s direct martial niece. Nagiko watched her grow up and follows her cultivation progress closely 505.
  • Huo Yanshan — Temporary exploration partner and competing claimant to the Azure Dragon Burial Ground. Nagiko later forces him out without allowing him to take its Treasure Soil 367 440 441.
  • Ao Weisheng — Dragonkin envoy with whom she disputes ownership of the Azure Dragon Burial Ground. She rejects his entitlement and wagers on River City’s performance against him 481 489.

Story Role / Major Arcs

Recruitment and Early Investigations

  • First approach: Informs Yue Wen that his cultivation-office license was rejected because Bureau regulations require two cultivators. She offers employment and access to classified information about his missing parents, but he refuses 2.
  • Auction operation: Hides her Jade Doll inside a false cauldron to track the Meow-Meow Cult. Wang Miaomiao discovers the trap and escapes after fighting her incarnation 71.
  • Secret Realm transfer: Receives the Fox Demon Lady’s Secret Realm token when Yue Wen hands the realm over to the state rather than retain a dangerous prize 231.
  • Undercover intervention: Disguises herself as a corpse puppet alongside Tongguang, then incapacitates Golden Spear Lang and helps Yue Wen confront the assembled cultivators 238 240 241.
  • Parents’ case: Eventually shares that Yue Wen’s parents were researching the “Fall of the True Dragon” and that the Demon Race opened the spatial rift responsible for their disappearance 272.

Tournament Reform and the Hu Family Conflict

  • Nightmare Town controversy: Her redesigned tournament format comes under attack after Yue Wen gains an extraordinary advantage. She negotiates a penalty placing him last in exchange for securing his Blazing Sun Fist and teaching him her sword-lightning art 295.
  • Counterplay through rankings: Accepts the last-place arrangement expecting Yue Wen to fight through the bracket and defeat Hu Yunting; Li Flying Rosy Clouds’ emergence complicates that expectation 312.
  • Moon-Gazing Tower incident: Responds immediately to Yue Wen’s summons and attacks Zhao Shizhe before learning he is Zhao Xing’er’s father conducting a test. The misunderstanding is subsequently settled 330.
  • Protection and interrogation: Guards Yue Wen’s office through a doppelganger, arrests the demonic cultivators who intrude, and agrees with Yue Wen to attribute Wen Yan’s activities to the Hu Family. Her subsequent interrogation uncovers Immortal Lord Biyue’s search for Daoist Ye’s corpse 345 348 350.

Azure Dragon Burial Ground

  • Joint expedition: Cooperates with Huo Yanshan and takes the younger cultivators to Hidden Dragon Pool for practical experience 367 368 370.
  • Treasure Soil claim: Claims the donated realm for River City’s Bureau and its partners. Recognizing the soil’s value and Huo Yanshan’s weakened condition, she forces him to leave empty-handed 440 441.
  • Support for Yue Wen: Gathers all five requested supreme-grade Dharma Form materials within three days and gives him a share of the soil. She later identifies the resulting Supreme Dharma Form 442 444 450.
  • Renewed fox-demon hunt: Remains in River City after learning that the Fox Demon Lady survived, bringing Feiguang in to help locate her 488 498.

Ascendant Dragon Assembly and Later Support

  • Team preparation: Opens access to the Spell-Derivation Secret Realm, oversees training, and approves category-exclusive sponsorships without taking any revenue for herself or the Bureau 453 488.
  • Recruitment defense: Publicly celebrates Yue Wen’s success and instructs rival sects and Dragon Hall recruiters to approach her rather than pressure him directly 543 545.
  • Succession wager: Proposes staking the Yang Earth succession contest on Yue Wen taking first place in the Dragon Gate Tournament, trusting that his confidence reflects a winning plan 580 581.
  • Seniority reversal: At the victory banquet, Yue Wen’s acceptance by the Xuanmen Patriarch makes him the sect’s Grand Martial Uncle. Nagiko jokingly offers to acknowledge him as her adoptive father 612.
  • Continued assistance: Offers him both sect and Bureau intelligence on the Four Seas Dragon Palace, then personally transports him to arrange a trap for a suspected Dragon Hall spy 620 647.
