Hu Jiuyi was still wearing his ragged work clothes, sitting casually on the agency's sofa. A few fresh scars marked his angular face.
For someone of his strength to suffer so many injuries showed just how dangerous venturing into the Wasteland Zone was.
Big White circled happily around him, looking delighted.
When Hu Jiuyi picked up a bag of snacks, its eyes lit up; when he picked up the premium spirit beast jerky he had brought back for it from the Wasteland Zone, its head drooped at once.
"Howling Sky really does seem to prefer junk food?" Hu Jiuyi finally accepted this fact.
Yue Wen nodded. "Maybe its diet used to be too clean, and it never tasted anything like this."
"But even dogs won't eat Luosifen-flavored chips," Hu Jiuyi added.
"Hey, you!" Zhao Xing'er's eyebrows shot up, and she was about to argue with him again.
"Xing'er, go make a spreadsheet of this month's income-I'll chat with Senior-" Yue Wen caught her around the waist and pulled her away.
"Our little bit of income needs a spreadsheet? You could get a kid in their last year of kindergarten to add it up," Zhao Xing'er said, puzzled.
Only after placating Zhao Xing'er did Yue Wen return to Hu Jiuyi and start over with the pleasantries. "Have you just returned from the Wasteland Zone, Senior?"
"Don't even mention it." Hu Jiuyi looked indignant. "Two companions and I explored a secret realm and escaped after all sorts of hardships. A powerful evil spirit from inside chased us all the way back to the grand formation. Then we discovered the City-Guarding Grand Formation had been activated, and nobody could get in without a secret authorization from the Supernatural Affairs Bureau. The three of us spent another two days running circles around the formation.
