Distinction from the Demon Race

• Animal-derived monsters should not be conflated with the Demon Race discussed in connection with the Demon Emperor Hide. That race is described as exceptionally intelligent, skilled at human disguise, and capable of recruiting humans through demonic blood 28.

• Ferocity does not necessarily imply an indiscriminate desire to attack humans. Big Muntjac initially intends to pass Ji Yang without fighting, while Yue Wen explicitly distinguishes harmless beasts from the bloodthirsty specimens selected for the livestream 40 42.

Demon Beast Tides

• Beasts periodically gather into tides and repeatedly charge human cities’ defensive barriers 39.
• Exceptionally large tides can open temporary cracks, allowing some beasts into the city before the formation is repaired. Most partially transformed beasts living in cities entered this way 39.
